DF: Xbox One X at Gamescom - Enhanced Games Previewed!

So basically it will be decent performance, except on CPU heavy games like World of Tanks. No big surprise there.

The information in the article is older than the game which was tested and turned out to be native 4K.

Is hard we need a little more than games will come to make an investment like this,from what it looks the games are not coming fast enough,i want one because i am planing to get a new 4k tv,but is not an easy decision with games been so sparse.

It's only $500, it's not like you're putting a down payment on a house or anything.

Eh, $500 is a pretty big amount to spend on what I presume would be the third or fourth gaming hardware he would be buying this generation.

I'm not betting anything, that article is 11 days old, GamesCom took place 3 days ago, and the game there was running at native 4K.

This is 2017, a game going gold means absolutely nothing, it just means they completed the game, it doesn't mean it's not going to receive updated development and patches via this wonderful thing called the internet...

You can't argue with a bunch of fanboys spouting a bunch of "what if" statements.. Fair enough.. But those same fanboys can't argue with stone-cold facts presented by their previous go-to lord and savior, Digital Foundry..

Cows said the majority of games will be checkerboard 4K like the PS4 Pro and when Digital Foundry looks at around 10 games from Gamescom 2017, says every game aside from Quantum Break is native 4K, and says a number of those games have visual enhancements even beyond a native 4K resolution, then there's no room for counterarguments.. You are just wrong, plain and simple.. All they can do at that point is pathetically point to the one game that missed the mark in Quantum Break.. All they can do is hide behind the monster gaming PC rigs that all cows apparently have now.. All they can do is damage control and deflect the fact that all 3rd party games don't just "slightly" look better on the Xbox One X, there are "distinct" and "clear cut" differences between the PS4 Pro versions of 3rd party games and those of the Xbox One X .. And again, this is months before the console even hits retail..

And It doesn't get any easier for cows from this point on.. Dude, this is LAUNCH support for the Xbox One X.. The games that release from here on out with only be more optimized and will only take more advantage of the hardware..

Probably an old build as they said they had the game running native 4K before they decided to go with checkerboard. Probably because they were dipping too much.

Serious question and didn't know where else to ask. Any point to this without 4k TV ? Pc is decent, but not as good as scorpio. I have a pspro too.

I don't ever recall either of them saying that the X1X won't have any 4K native games. I guess I'll let them speak for themselves.

If the game supports super sampling, then you'll get a cleaner image on a 1080p screen. Plus you'll get some enhancements like better textures, maybe better performance (60pfs) and the like. The one other thing the X1X will do over the pro is increasing performance on non patched games. It has the potential to have games hit their performance targets easier and more frequent.

@Chutebox: Yes. You get superior multiplats, and every benefit except native 4K. Even with 4K titles it downsamples on your TV, and looks better than 1080p. You'll still get faster load times, better draw distance, AA, higher frames, improved shadows, better lighting, just better performance and visuals in general.

This is actually incorrect, this system requires no support to super-sample, it forces it. That's yet another bonus it has that the Pro does not.

I'm being serious here. Every cow I've read, even the extreme ones, have admitted that the Xbox One X will have native 4K games. So what was there to call out? You're attacking strawmen again.

Just as Zero said, I personally never seen them say faux at all. Everyone knows this hardware can play 4K games if you have a 4KTV that is.

I really don't pay much attention to quadknight or, pinky so I maybe wrong but in any case, we all know it'll play 4K games.

Egh somehow I doubt it, DF said the game was only dropping into the 50's, so that would indicate a need to further optimize or lower a single setting, not completely overhaul the renderer.

Saying FauXK is a not the same as claiming the Xbox won't have any native 4K games. That's very different. Also, they clearly opted for the opposite given that they announced that the game will lower the resolution in favor of image quality and performance.

Honestly, if you game enough on PC and you already own one, just spend the money and upgrade it. You'll still have access to the Xbox Library and likely get better performance and visuals. Especially if you don't plan on upgrading to 4K any time soon.

Would just need to upgrade ram (prob not but if I wanted to match Scorpio) and my GPU. But honestly, I don't game on PC. I've used it for MMO but don't play any anymore.

Tell me about it. But on the other hand 70% of the exclusives on my PS4 Pro are games I DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT. Why should I care if Yakuza is exclusive if I don't want to play it?

I'm paying for PSN+ and I don't play any MP games on the console. Its a fvckin ghost town. On my X1S (soon to be X1X) I at least play the weekly Sea of Thieves alpha, Halo 5, Gears 4 MP.

Oh so never mind. You'd probably be better off with the X if you're looking to buy something.

Again, somehow I doubt this considering they compared the native 4K render of F1 2017 to that of a high end PC. If the game was only dipping into the 50's it doesn't make any sense to change the rendering, it makes sense to further optimize the code or dial back a single setting to correct this. Not completely rework the resolution using custom rendering methods to achieve something you're 99% already doing.
