[QUOTE="AncientDozer"] What, to think that complexity and processing power somehow a major factor in fun is naive? I mean, nevermind that your argument is so, so "compelling".
Explain to me then why Mine Craft and Terraria are so terribly popular. What is the explanation for Mafia Wars and Farmville? Castle Crashers! Any Indie or Arcade game that's on live or the stuff they do with PSN. Some are a fair bit more complex than others with better graphics but a lot are not at all on the same "level" as "big titles" and yet they do exceptional.
Limbo, one of my favorite games, while artistically beautiful, is hardly a "graphics king" by any definition and it's about as complex as using one button for everything.
Unless you're agreeing with me. In which case. Yes, quite.

'complexity and process power' (i'm assuming that means processing power) is a major part of fun. denying so would mean casting off any improvements that may come about from it - such as complexity of the game environment itself (size of maps, physicalised objects, number of players, etc.)
It's not a major part of fun. Why would you believe that?Tic tac toe is still fun even in the day of omega virus, an electronic boardgame, and battleship. Yet it's so simple in the face of these increasingly complex games.
Power of a PC (or anything with power), while nice, is not inherent for fun. It allows for development, yes, but it is not absolutely necessary. Because even as we get games like crysis, we're still enjoying games like Touhou or Mine Sweeper. Hell, people still play Ragnarok Online even though games like World of Warcraft and Rifts eclipse it.
All the things you mentioned aren't necessary or important and can just as easily be a detriment . Player count? So what. Gears of War 4 on 4 is amazing. Battlefield Bad Company' 12 on 12 worked brilliantly. I had more fun with that than I did with however many people played in Counter Strike simply because it wasn't a cluster dump.
it's a major part of fun. you can do more if you have more power. why you keep denying this i don't know
either way pcs can do the same thing consoles can. in case this hasn't sunken in yet, there's a reason why pcs have the choice of the full 64 player count. if it's not your cup of tea that's fine, but it's an absolute advantage the pc has over consoles
