Quality and enjoyment are derived from how one product comapres with its competition - No.  Quality and enjoyment are (partly but not wholey as there are many factors involved) derived from how the product suits the needs, wants and expectations of the purchaser. This is true because quality and enjoyment are not static quantities but perceptions individual to the assessor.  There are many examples of this, including the same products in different colours.  What you refer to is cognitive dissonance brought about by the perceived lack of value when a consumer sees a similar, yet unequivocally better, product available to them at the same or lesser cost than the one they purchased. In this instance there is no clearly defined product that is better than the other, both are unreleased and both have different features at different costs - your perception of this is irrelevant.

A 50/100 raw score on a standardized test may seem bad to you, but if that 50/100 was the highest score, then everyone would think it's awesome - No.  This completely depends on the sample size for the test.  If only one person had been tested then then the highest score is irrelevant, it is the only score.

This is why I said that it wouldn't matter if great studios like rockstar and naughty dog got shut down, because the best games in the industry would then be CoD, meaning that CoD would be pinnacle of 'quality games'. Overall enjoyment would stay the same, as there is nothing to compared CoD to - No.  If a restaurant serves two types of disgusting faeces and all other restaurants do exactly the same then people will simply not visit restaurants rather than all agree that the faeces is the pinnacle of dining. Overall enjoyment of restaurants will decrease, not remain the same.  This is because there is ALWAYS something else to compare it to (eating in for example).  If games were all shallow and boring then they would be compared to other forms of entertainment which are not.  People would simply choose to do something other than play mediocre games that are not as stimulating as other pursuits they could follow.  You try to use an example where nobody has any other frame of reference, but we do and thus your argument is a logical fallacy.

Actually copy out the lines and then reply to them.  I simply pointed out that quality and enjoyment of a product is not just linked to other products in the market.  That is far too simple a statement that doesn't look at the wider picture.  I gave you the example of retro games and all you could do was say ":lol: you so dumb".  I made no statement about mass market appeal or anything of the sort.

You then talked about standardized tests and I made the point that it meant nothing and provided an example of why it meant nothing.
