Welcome the real world.
I suppose when you buy a PSP (which was sold at a loss I believe) and wonder why the games line up isn't very good, perhaps you'd then realise the money that comes from charging a profit per unit can actually be used to, ya know MAKE games.
Sony is stupid for taking a loss. Any other business would have a total make over of a product division losing so much money.
You think if Sony had charged even more profit for a PSP we'd have gotten better 1st party games then copy and paste PS2 games? Not 4 Socoms, Countless Ratchets, and an ungodly amount of Buzz related games. Maybe more Patapon-esque games? More unique titles?
Why is it so bad to charge a profit? Is everyone on the internet under the impression that thats not how the real world works? Sony is taking a huge gamble that ultimately can effect the Vita buyer because if consumers don't buy as much software as they hope they won't have enough $ to make the games you guys want, especially since there will be no profit from the hardware itself.
Also, I'd like to point out you're paying $250 for a Vita in 2011 that has no internal storage. You have to buy a Sony designed memory card, which will have higher prices than the widely accepted SD card standard (which btw Nintendo uses, and gives you a free 2GB card as well as the 2GB inside the 3DS itself) to use anything on the device. Meaning be prepared to pay $40 for a 4GB Sony Memory Card when 4GB SD cards are $6. I'm pretty sure they cut out the storage for the Vita, which isn't to cut costs, it's to add costs to the consumer because they are using that to force their memory card on you.
Sony is pushing their other products on you and charging a lot as well. Just like they did with BluRay, UMD, Memory Stick Duo, etc.
Additionally, if X game console is $250 and has much more A/AA/AAA games than Y console which is also $250, inevitably no matter what other factors X console is going to be a better value.
no but i did finally get to hold one at gamestop this weekend. I was very impressed with the 3D. It made me want one. it was funny though cuz i told my wife to come check it out and she looked at it for about 2 sec. and was like Meh...it kinda hurts my eyes. Then she said it seems nice but didn't add anything. I cracked up and told her that was one of the knocks on 3D. That it didn't change game play. As we walked out she said your a playstation guy with your PSP and all. Then she said the wii was about as far as i should take it. HA! cracked me up again.
In all seriousness, the 3DS seems like an awsome system. I'll be holding off for the PSV but that doesn't take anything away from the 3DS.
joystick or tumb nub felt great. slider seemed very responsive and the 3DS for streetfighter was cool to me. the top screen into was very cool with great grafics.

Nintendo is aiming at 60 fps (3D enabled) and 8 player online. That's probably the reason for the not-so-mind-blowing-graphics.
Either way the game does look a lot better than the DS version.Hell yeah it does It pretty much looks the same as the Wii version but a bit smoother, plus with 3D on I'm sure it'll look even better.[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]No but sony convinced me that nintendo is price gouging its customers.Tony-BaxterHow? Already had one, but it did make me really excited for the future. Mario 3DS looks unbelievable! And words cannot describe how giddy i am that Paper Mario is back. I watched all of the trailers in 3d on the 3ds and they really looked awesome. Much better then the videos played at the conference - of course, as they were blown up and not in 3d. I found Luigi's Mansion 2 to be quite the gorgeous looking game. Never played the original, so i'm very interested to see what the series is about.
I was glad that they announced Links Awakening would be availible that day as well. I had been really looking forward to it since it was rumored it would be a launch title for the eshop, yet in the weeks leading up to the eshop it was absent. It's a simple thing to be excited for, but i had never played it before and having it up on the eshop gave me the push to rectify that!
I do wish they had've shown off some more 3rd party stuff. And still no news on the Mother series :(

If it uses the same memory cards as the PSP you can get a 4GB one for eight dollars on amazon.comIs he REALLY bringing up Nintendo gives you a 2gb SD card out of the box? lol that size is a joke...the first thing I did was buy a 16gb card. Sony isnt dumb, they will make sure their cards are affordable. I cant think of one thing that Sony has overcharged for me...I mean they even let me buy my own Harddrive (any brand I want) and put it in my PS3...
There is no denying the fact that Nintendo gives you cheaper quality hardware...you can FEEL the cheapness. I love my 3ds but I have noticed how BAD the screen quality is ever since they released the Nintendo web browser...I cant even browse gamespot forums without SQUINTING and noticing every single pixel on the screen. My Iphone or PSP browser blows the thing out of the water and thats OLD hardware (psp).
Sony can afford to take a loss on hardware since they sell tons of other things to makeup for it (TV's, computers, radios, subwoofers etc) Its great for us gamers because we get more for our hard earned money...You can complain all you want about games but Sony has proven to dish out quality AAA titles on both the PS3 and PSP and there's no denying that...and now we've seen a list of upcoming PS Vita games...
There's a reason why its creating so much buzz on every single forum and all the media outlets. NEWS FLASH, you are in the minority.
Oh back on topic, I didnt need convincing to buy a 3ds...I bought one day 1 and cant wait for OOT this sunday.
It baffles me that people bash Sony for selling VITA at a loss and praise nintendo for selling a cheap system for way more than it's worth. Why isn't it obvious that Sony wants you to invest in their games and Nintendo wants to cash out as much as possible in the short term?
Maybe if i had stock in nintendo i'd be happy about the wii or DS's success but the more we praise this, the more nintendo will leave its original core behind.
Seeing it against the VITA is straight up laughable and I'd be furious if I bought one at launch.

There is so much wrong in this post. First off sony is a multi billion dollar company i am not,so why should i care that they take a loss in the hardware department because they want me to buy their product and save some money in the process,if beyond me how people defend companies profits like if they were investors for that company, why should i care if they loose money giving a me a good price.? If anything i should be happy, since when getting a Ferrari for the price of a BMW is a bad thing.? And why.? Also are you for real.? A nintendo fan accusing sony of making nothing but PS2 games on PSP,Nintendo has been making the same crap since the early 80's the PS wasn't even born.In fact by the time the PS1 arrived in 1994,Link had save Hyrule a couple of times, and Mario had rescue the princes eve more times. I don't think sony will charge $40 dollars for a 4GB card, you can buy a 8GB memory stick from sony like for $28 dollars,a far cry from 4GB and from $40 dollars. The 3DS isn't hot is not selling DS like, and the games now are mediocre,3D effect causes sickness and headaches, and Nintendo's own people tell you it should not be play in 3D by kids under 7 this was confirmed by Reggie him self,is the standard for 3D movies as well and PS3 games, kids under 7 don't have the muscles of their eyes develop yet. There is a ton of kids under 7 who own a DS,which should not play the 3DS.I was always gonna get one for MGS 3D but Mario looked amazing and I can't wait for Luigi's Mansion 2, I loved the first. Vita definitely has better tech but 3DS has more games I want. That's not surprising though since 3DS has been out for a few months and Vita might not be out here till next March.

I already have a 3DS with me and I'm loving it. But it would be interesting if Nintendo sold at a loss like sony does. If the 3DS was at 100-150 bucks t launch a LOT more people (kids and teens) would buy them, and I'm pretty sure they could recover with 1st party software alone.

here is the reasons I don't want one.
1. Cost too much (Wi-Fi only version of Vita is same price).
2. 3D has too many issues like having to hold at a certain distance, headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, ect.
3. No games that interest me.
4. Nintendo takes FOREVER to drop prices on both their hardware and software.
5. Isn't much better than the PSP.
6. Won't play GBA games.
7. No movie playback.
8. Online isn't much better than the DS online and we all know how bad that sucks.
9. Only 1 analog stick.
The 3DS is getting Movie playback soon were you can watch 3D movies. They are also getting Netflix so you can watch Netflix on the go if you don't have a laptop with you. There was nothing they could do to get me to want one.

God watching movies on the 3DS is going to suck. The screen is just way too small for that. But I guess that's better than nothing for those that could only get one of the two new handhelds and decided on the 3DS.
