ugh, and certain cows were adamant the screens of TLOU with no aliasing whatsoever were plausible on current console hardware. But yeah the ridiculous praising of dynamic AI and multiple paths through levels (omg!) in this game is already getting tiresome. But then Naughty Dog does seem good at attracting the hyperbole reactions.
[QUOTE="loosingENDS"]I dont see Last of Us comparing to Gears 3 at all, the difference is night and day Last of Us looks like a PS1 game comparing to Gears 3tormentosMe neither thank god for that.. PS1 that is allot i would say Sega CD.
TLOU doesn't look that bad, you're just being silly now.
Tell me,where did I say anything about TLoU being inferior to Halo 4 visually?I don't care about graphics in either of those games,I play on the PC,and compared to most modern PC titles, this looks bad to mediocre...Funny because this game has something i have not seen in PC games,is call attention to realism... It was explain in several articles about this game,is how ND is making the characters fell like real, from how they run and how they have to touch a wall to not fall and stuff like that, that is something i saw also on Uncharted 3 sand stage the physics how the sand reacted to drake steps, how the water get him wet. From what i have read and see in videos this game is not your normal shot and run game,is going after a more realistic feel, something you just don't get by injecting millions of polygons.I'm just saying that it feels like most cows don't care about AI,or gameplay here, they just care about technical graphics, since they can use them as an "ownage" against lems and 360 titles...And your posts so far help to prove my point, like the one above...Rocker6

Graphics look pretty good considering what they are aiming for with this game.delta3074
They look terrible and games like Gears 3 and Halo 4 have 100x bigger levels and more open world by miles and look generations better
PS3 GPU and seprate RAM is a disaster as it seems, 360 seems like outputting double ot triple the graphics power right now

It's obvious that naughty dog are aiming for a game with bigger scale,Graphical sacrifices usually have to be made with scale, like i said, for what they are aiming for the graphics look pretty good, they look good to me anyway, Not as good as gears 3 at the moment but there is plenty of time to add post processing effects and as far as gameplay goes with the multiple routes and impressive AI this looks far more interesting to me than gears, i may have to hijack the wifes Ps3 when this comes out.[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="Rocker6"]Tell me,where did I say anything about TLoU being inferior to Halo 4 visually?I don't care about graphics in either of those games,I play on the PC,and compared to most modern PC titles, this looks bad to mediocre...Funny because this game has something i have not seen in PC games,is call attention to realism... [QUOTE="Sushiglutton"] Herms only focusing on graphics while the topic was about the AI (and smartly so as there's no game on PC with an AI like this, but there are plenty of games with better graphics).Rocker6
"dynamic AI, where characters move, talk and act in a highly contextual manner."
You make it sound as if character interaction is a new invention by naughty dog. I mean hell, TacOps (a mod for unreal) had hostiages that were terrified of the terrorist. But, if a gun lay on the ground near them, they wouldn't shy away from picking it up and shooting at the terrorists (or in some cases the rescuers if the hostage took one to many 'freindly fire' rounds  )
There is a lot of PR talk about TLoU's AI and dynamics, that's for sure, but there still is some nice interaction among protagonists, from what we've seen on E3...
I just wonder if it'll manage to work properly, and stay natural and consistent during the entire game experience...
Without a doubt that E3 video looked fluid and great, DF pretty much redid the video again in the link. So that gets me thinking and what your wondering about is exactly what I'm worried about.[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="loosingENDS"]It's obvious that naughty dog are aiming for a game with bigger scale,Graphical sacrifices usually have to be made with scale, like i said, for what they are aiming for the graphics look pretty good, they look good to me anyway, Not as good as gears 3 at the moment but there is plenty of time to add post processing effects and as far as gameplay goes with the multiple routes and impressive AI this looks far more interesting to me than gears, i may have to hijack the wifes Ps3 when this comes out. 200 times bigger and better Halo 4 is,i tell you the POS3 is a crappy console...uhgg Oh, goody! Fanboy b*tch slapfight! Nice to see two idiots like you and Loosey hitting it off.Uncharted 3 had one of the most impressive background streaming systems we've seen in a console title - a piece of tech that pushed the console so hard that the developer actually ran into problems with compatibility on earlier machines, only resolved in the final days before the game shipped. The Last of Us utilises this tech in a similar manner: eliminating level loading and streaming in assets - like voice work and animation - as they are needed
It's the best solution for the most realistic effect - procedurally generated motion is the natural evolution, as we've seen from first-gen efforts like FIFA's Impact Engine, but Naughty Dog's solution produces the more convincing effect. As a result, there's a genuine sense that these are living, breathing characters, interacting incidentally with their surroundings in a believable manner. The emphasis on realism extends to combat: whether you're taking damage or dishing it out, the location-based animation is brutally realistic to the point where the effect can be genuinely disconcerting. Brutal, visceral, unsettling. Death has consequences in The Last of Us. Here, Joel creates a Molotov cocktail with bandages and alcohol, burning a foe to death - an action that Ellie seems to have serious issues with.
All of which leads us towards the element that interests us most: the moral choices facing the player and how this adjusts the gameplay. In the walkthrough we witness Joel using the new inventory system to fashion a Molotov cocktail, brutally burning one of the Hunters to death. The alcohol and bandages used to create the weapon can be used for medicinal purposes, so there's clearly a strong resource-management component to the game. But more interesting than that is Ellie's disgusted response - in her eyes, Joel has crossed a line. We're curious just how far Naughty Dog will go here: whether Ellie develops as a character based on the experiences she is exposed to by the player, or if she progresses on a simpler, more linear path, with a set series of contextual responses to specific scenarios. The choices the developer makes here could have a fundamental effect on how players choose to tackle the game. The Last of Us - but all the signs look good, and the freeform, almost dynamic narrative perhaps offers us a first look at the kind of storytelling and gameplay we expect to feature prominently in top-tier next-gen titles. "Naughty Dog explored CPU-driven 'helper' AI in the Uncharted games, but in Ellie it has created its most interactive, fully realised character to date."
Once again this game is on another level,is not your usual resident evil survival crap,or anything of that sort this game is aiming much higher.tormentos
Pretty much. Is just that people around here are so used to bullshots that when they see direct-feed screens they think no game actually looks like that. But the best part is:
"The advantage with this "lighter touch" approach to the post-process is that pixel-crawl is all but eliminated, and there is doubtless a large resource saving in comparison with Sony's established MLAA technology. In truth, the Uncharted tech remains state-of-the-art to the point where further enhancements in terms of model detail or texture quality are not really required to achieve the firm's artistic vision."
So basically LOU has some the most advanced AA and lighting on consoles. And I bet this game will take all the graphic awards of 2013 just like Uncharted 3 did last year.
