I'll believe it when I see a visible difference. A lot of jargon is not going to make me upgrade. clyde46Pretty much this. Diret X 10.1 didn't really do anything worth noting and 11.1 hasn't really done anything yet either. I'm not going to pay for a new operating system to get at the very most a 5% increase in visuals.......

DirectX and OpenGL won't magically make hardware do what its physically incapable of. They are just software APIs so developers don't have to program to each different graphics driver. These new versions of each just improve the software pipeline to increase preformance, preform miracles. Now that being said, a native DX11 game will preform better (at the same visual level) as a native DX9 game. DX9 is horribly outdated, which is why valve got old source games to run better on opengl
Developers can also target a framerate and let the gpu dynamically scales the 3d graphics to try to meet that criteria (basically dynamic resolution changing is now fully supported by the api)
Didn't Rage already do this on 360 and PS3?
Also, PS4 and Wii U don't even use Directx, so it's a moot point. Sony's API might even be better than DX11.2, it might be worse, who knows?

LOL, didn't you know NVIDIA has thier own DX10.1 like extensions?

lol, you have to do some reading about technology if you want to speak ron's language... forwarding piles of information without any real argument behind them isn't a language, its nonsense[QUOTE="superclocked"][QUOTE="silversix_"]Why do you always bring out benchmarks/1 million examples/links to everything? He's one of the dumbest posters on here, instead of using the information he needs to make a point, he piles in excessive information without any real point, and hopes we can read minds.
What's your problem?
I can revert down to your level and just post unsupported claims.
Hey bro, please tell me what game that is in your sig. Or if anyone else knows, could you please enlighten me?Welp I'm getting a HTPC anyway, I'm gonna shift all my games to that so I can use my current PC for game development and video editing

DX features are kept in check so MS can sell new windows with newer DX instructions, nothing more.
Its sad to see people making threads to brag about it.
[QUOTE="parkurtommo"]Paying money to get a new OS that is useless for a non-touch interface
And no I'm not suggesting you should use other means to get Windows 8, I'm saying that it's a waste of money and no one should get it, unless they have a cintiq tablet PC or some shit like that.
Inconsistancy
Windows 8 is the most clunky OS to use with a mouse or touchpad.PonchoTaco
I'd wager that neither of you have actually used it, you should probably hold your judgement 'til then.
If you 'really' have a hard on for the start menu, like it's the only thing that gets your dick up in life, you can get a program to bring it back. You don't need to use it, there is a fully functioning desktop, however Metro's actually perfectly fine as a start menu.
I really hate having to jump back and forth from desktop to tablet UI, seems completely pointless. and I almost never use search features, only when I absolutley can't find something.[QUOTE="AlexKidd5000"]Would rather see OpenGL get more wide spread use.ZoomZoom2490

Yup. Which is why I want OpenGL to start taking away some of that sweet marketshare from DirectX. I'm not going to change to an OS I don't like just to play the latest games.This. Any dev that wants to develop exclusively for windows 8 will just have to survive without me buying their games.Still not downgraing to Windows 8

You're funny only you're not. Suffering with windows 8. Lol.
Win 8 is no different than win 7 from a usability perspective especially if you use the Win button on your keyboard then type in the name of the app you want to open. If you like to take the slow way of grabbing your mouse then going to the start menu then selecting your app, then yes it is a lil different (but win8 is after). Instead of opening a heirarchy of start menus folders, all your programs are flat.
lhughey
Regarding Windows 8, this is why the start menu > start screen for functionality and productivity.

We just recently started upgrading to Windows 7 as well. And we still use Internet Explorer 8 and Visual Studio 2008 Professional and our computers still have sub-2GHz dual core processors and 2GB of RAM. Some businesses are just very slow to change.
It probably doesn't help that most of the office workers will actually complain about being upgraded.
I actually use Office 98 on the laptop I take data with. I don't really mind though because that's literally all we do with it.Hey bro, please tell me what game that is in your sig. Or if anyone else knows, could you please enlighten me?[QUOTE="NoodleFighter"]

All GeForce 8 supports vendor specific DX10.1 like extensions and this is one of the reasons why Geforce 8 smashed Radeon HD 2x00 series.
