When it could be seen as cheating it is normally a blacning problem. Such as one side having a unit that could be made faster than it could be counted. But other times it is just people whining that they did not build up their defensives or not scouting the enemy base to see the rush coming.
When people rush in base building RTS games it's embarasing whether they win or not. I mean what are they doing? I have a defensive advantage, you have the same ratio of forces, who's more likely to win here? But no, generally it's not cheating unless it can be abused with fast moving units, but for that to be the case they need to be way way overpowered, and that's a design flaw. I just can't stand it when people rush at the very start of a game though, it's a broken strategy and it's a waste of a game/match.
Note: When I'm talking about rushing I mean like at the very beggining, an actual proper rush that has been well planed can be used tactically and is often required for victory.
When it could be seen as cheating it is normally a balancing problem. Such as one side having a unit that could be made faster than it could be counted. But other times it is just people whining that they did not build up their defensives or not scouting the enemy base to see the rush coming.

This. Pretty much sums it all.
I don't know, but that seems pretty stupid.dont some rts tournaments have a no rush rule

No. If there is an unbalanced unit or unfair tactic (*cough* Arbiter Rush in Halo Wars *cough*), I don't think it is cool to abuse it.II-FBIsniper-IIwell you just hit the nail on the head, thats what iam talking about. I used to playempire earth and starcraft ans never had a problem but thats a long time ago

i remember seeing one a few years ago, which had a no rush rule, but i havent realy played a rts game in a few years dont know why they are cool games.
 would you rather every game be 2-4 hours long?
i'm only stating that because everything else has already been sumed up in the thread

4 hour long RTS match = Epic. Not very convient, but amazing none the less.
well yes i agree, win or lose after the match is over my reaction is usually something like "Woah..." but if every match was like that? no thankkk youuuu, it would just be too much

yeah i like matches to be very long after you win you feal like you won and even if you lose you go out knowing you had a good fight.not at all its in the game for a reason and if the developers wanted to take it out they would just put a fifteen minute timer or something in the game before you could make an attack

I think the Germans were also using hacks, no way they could of build so much in such little time.

You know who was really hacking?
America.
How the **** do you get from a Great Depression and not having enough guns for your 500,000 soldier army to having freaking nukes?
Freakin' sploitin', that's how.

That was pure skill, FDR was so leet, he got madz skillz. :P
But seriously Rushing is only a part of the game, Unless there are blancing problems with the units, losing to a rush is your own fault. Scout the enemy base, and know if the enemy is sending a rush at you.

I don't think any Japanese where brough up on Warcrimes from attacking Pearl. I may be wrong. Surpriseattacking Pearl Harbor is fairly small compared to the other warcrimes committed by the Japanese.

No. Rushing is one strategy. If your enemy does not bolster defenses early, that is his weak spot, and you exploit it. If he defended well and you rush, you expose yourself and he loses the advantage. Its the purpose of RTS.

Wow, really? If you can't stop the Arbiter that's your fault. I've done it plenty of times and even when I use Arbiter, the good players know how to stop it.
I hate when people cry about cheating. It's your lack of skill. If you're going to cry, cry about something that is not balanced. Almost everything in every game can be countered, people just have this stupid honor code so they instead just cry about it.

A well upgraded MAC is wonderful against Covie leaders or Scarabs. ODST and MAC upgrades FTW!Please Log In to post.
