[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]Why would you walk into a store and pay full price for something you can get for $13 cheaper which includes shipping? And $3.91 is the cost to me per month when you break it down. I break down all yearly costs into 12 month segments to compare apples and apples. tormentosBecause there are million of people on this world who don't have a credit or debit card, people who are new, people who don't own a PC,people who don't trust online shopping you name it,the fact is the biggest chain of stores gamestop sell it for $60 online or offline so i a sure the ones who bough XBL in a deal are a minority. You are breaking the cost on something which can't be break that way,in fact XBL sell you 1 month but it will not cost you $3.91 it will cost you $10,you just break it that way to help your argument i can do that. The PS3 wasn't expensive at launch it was $600 it was just $1 dollar a year to play, because i break the cost into 600 years cycles.I have no idea how old you are, but I'm 31 and have something called a budget. If I can save $13 by spending three minutes on the internet shopping I do it. And I break down all expenses to 12 month segments for budgeting purposes.
After all is said and done Xbox Live costs me $3.91 per month. That's nothing.

Some people pay full price and don't realise the savings. A simple search on the internet can save you a bunch.
No. Absolutely not worth the money. But your hands are tied if you want to play the likes of Halo, Gears of War, Forza or any other game on-line. Unfortunately, i still want to play those games on-line...i have not found enough PS3 games that play well enough on-line to make me give up Live and the 360 forever. But i am close.

No. I dont use any of the features they've added. I just want the simple ability to be able to participate in online matches. That simple ability should be free.
PSN gives you this for free & gives you the option of paying for extra features. This is what XBL should be doing but instead im paying for all these features i dont want or use. They force you to buy everything or nothing. That is complete nonsense
Why am i paying to access a component of a game i already purchased. Im already paying for internet access to my house every month. Also PSN has 90% of what XBL does & its free. We're paying $60 a yr for party chat. I dont even use online enough to get my moneys worth.
Bottom line is only mentally handicapped people will defend being charged for online. Everybody in the gaming industry knows XBL [at least the ability to participate in online matches] should be free. PERIOD.

Really? I mean, really?
No, I hardly use any of the features available for it like ESPN, Twitter, Netflix, Hulu Plus. The deals of the week aren't all that great. All I payed for was to play games online and its exactly the same experience as it is on the free PSN and free Steam...
Plus the fact that you pay your internet bill, i find it pointless to have another bill just to use it on xbl....kris9031998Exactly why I wont ever pay for it.
Except it's $60/year. you would really have to go out of your way to pay that much, theres so many promos for the service Im paying ~$40 a year plus they gave me a bunch of microsoft points for renewing. I'll try to catch these promos. I remember when XBL was $50 a year, I would get the cards off of eBay for $35-40.[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="Miketheman83"]40$ a year is nothingIZoMBiEI
[QUOTE="mems_1224"]or if you're smart and shop around its about $30-40 8)tormentosThat is a deal if you smart and shop around you can get a 360 and PS3 under the normal price tag, that doesn't mean the majority get it that way or close. so what? if they're too dumb to shop around its not my problem
no need for insults. if you dont like the service then dont use it. dont act like you're better than the people who do pay for it, thats just patheticNo. I dont use any of the features they've added. Many don't even own a card to buy online, many don't own a PC so now every person on this planet who owns a 360 also owns a PC.? Please you break the cost of live that way to make it look cheap,is $60 dollars period that is the retail price, you can find 360 under $299 that doesn't mean that is the retail price, again gamestop online and offline sell it for $60 and if the biggest chain of store selling games and anything related. Live for a single month is $10 dollars not $3.91,like i already told you i can do that with anything.

If you find a deal ok,but every one doesn't have to buy things your way, even better the same people you flame for not saving on deal, are the same that save money by not buying XBL,and playing free on PSN,so savings count online when they are on the xbox 360 favor i see.

You don't need a gaming pc to make purchases on the internet and not alot of parents with functioning brains are going to buy the internet purely so their children can play games online. The amount of people purchasing an internet service purely to play on xbox live are an extreme minority. It shouldn't even be a consideration for the argument.I wish it wasn't that high but I do use last.fm, Netflix, Hulu and other services so I am okay with it. But if you just play single player all day and nothing else then no you will be better off without it. I know PSN has some of the same services but really the menus and whatnot stink. :PMistressMinakoNever had to pay extra to use netflix on my ps3 and its the only device I'm aware of with both 1080p support and 5.1 support for movies and pretty sure all the netflix enabled bluray players,t.vs, and mobile devices are the same you pay nothing extra to use there video streaming apps.
lol love the poll where half the no users dont even have xbox live and never did.
and yes most of the time I find it worth the money...Most of the time.

To clear any confusion. And yes, I said it wasn't worth it. Got my 360 christmas 2010. thanks cousin!!:D
Of course it's worth it.
Too many people exaggerate and say that it's $60 a year. And it is if you buy the prepaid card. But, brah, MS has deals like every week on there for cheaper prices. I get to keep in touch and play with my friends. I get to play my favorite games online. It's all good.
If it was free would I like it more? Absolutely. But for the price it goes for I'm not exactly breaking the bank.
im on xbl every day ive been working a job since 16 paying for it the games on my own and people older and have better jobs then me still complain it's to expensive. xbl is worth every penny i put into it. the arcades are fantastic!.

XBL is 60 dollars. However, the point is makinga good saving on that is not difficult. A lot of people these days shop on the internet and that means they can take advantage of online prices.
I just bought a 3 month XBL card from ebay. I paid 12.99 in GBP. Keep in mind it's 6.00 for 1 month on the 360 dashboard, so this is a good saving.
Seeing the mileage I've gotten from using it, it's definately worth it.moose_knucklerIt's really about the value you get from it. Sure XBL should be free but it's not and if you're hardcore enough to game online all the time, then you'll be getting your moneys worth with the hours you'll sink into the game. Paying MS money might feel like greed on their end but I'm sure the money helps keep our service in good form.
I dont think its worth the $60 MS want from you every year. But I do like playing on my 360 online seeing as most of my friends have 360's as well. I get my 12 month cards from amazon though I pay much less there.
