I really like Nintendo and I dont want them to go 3rd party bcuz of their handhelds. The Wii U will surely get some great games but I just dont see the point of a last gen console releasing right before the PS4 & 720 which will be a leap above the Wii U. Will the industry hurt if the Wii U fails? I dont think so.
no, nintendo needs to realize that they should stop giving us outdated shitty hardware, because they are to cheap and afraid to make a proper console without some useless gimmick
Well I would hate for Nintendo to get into trouble as a company so I would like at least some amount of success. I seriously doubt it will be a huge seller though so hopefully Nintendo changes up things for the next console.

Because it isnt contributing anything to the industry.Neither did the PS3 for the longest time. Overpriced, no system selling exclusives, terrible system architecture for multiplat devs, no straightforward online component, no PSN store, no trophies, failed motion gimmick in Sixaxis, etc. Even today, as great as it is, it's hard to point out what the PS3 contributed to the industry.

I thought it was a bad thing that Nintendo doesn't succeed? Since their "hardcore" systems backfired on them, they had to go the route everyone hates (nevermind all that was said about one of those "hardcore" systems ended up pulling a 180) and it made them have success they wouldn't have likely got again. Sure, they said they'd go the "hardcore" route with Wii U, but even that ended up biting them in the ass two months before it released.

Listen, I liked the N64 (it's one of my favorite consoles by them), but that is where things were going downhill for Nintendo. There is no sugar coating that, no matter how many trends it started (analog sticks and four player controller support out of the box), and it's ironic because sheep are being called out for the sugar coating.
I'm not invested in the system(glad i returned mine), so I don't care if it lives or dies. But I do hope that Nintendo learns from their mistakes and creates an attractive next gen system that isn't just a Nintendo box. A console is only as good as the level of support it receives and it is quite evident Nintendo games alone cannot keep a system afloat.
I generally dont care, but in this case... Yes I would like if they flopped hard with the WiiU (even discontinue the Wii U).

They really should just focus on handhelds and stop pretending they can make home consoles. They already have the fan base for the handheld market, now they can support their system greatly and not have to worry about cost and limiting features as much if they just go handheld only.
I want it to fail, yes. But not because I don't like Nintendo. I like their IPs. But I want them to learn a lesson, they are a stubborn company, so only financial failure will lead to them to change their business model and hopefully get rid of some of the Execs running that ship.
Here's the thing; Nintendo could have gotten away with asking a higher price-tag on their console, if they just would justify the purchase and truly be more open to working with third party partners. To justify the price tag, they need to play ball and actually release a competent machine that would be able to offer amazing titles for another 5+ yrs.

Their handhelds may make them the most money, but without consoles, they'll end up getting killed off even faster. You can't support just one thing to make a profit, you need to spread out (especially since not everyone even LIKES handhelds), which is funny because this is what Nintendo is flanked for, not spreading out (well, this with their IP's, but it's still ironic).

Definitely! But I dun mind seeing them struggle as well. There are plenty of lessons to be learned with this console for them. They really need to reevaluate their approach in terms of hardware in the future to better entice customers and devs alike. Ninty can totally do better.
Upon them deserving to then yes why not. If they put together fabulous games and succeed from it why not? If they remain the current way they are they deserve to fail.

The PS1 and the Saturn dwarfed the N64 in terms of 3rd party support.. dunno if that's cool.
