Does anyone still believe that Uncharted 2 looks better than Gears 3?

from what you've seen? So have you played it or not? Cause i have and i think its a great looking game...but uncharted still looks better...even being 2 years older..campzor

I disagree. I own both games. I even posted proof in the gears 3 topic.

Gears of war 3 does use A.A, it wasn't using it in the beta. Now it's using FXAA. (Proof below)

Gears of war 3 doesn't have major frame drops, not near the issue of Crysis 2. Which were actually noticeable. With Gears, the only frame drop you'd recieve where when a large particle effect occurs directly infront of your camera. And it'd drop to about 28-26 max from my testing. Which once more, isn't noticeable and goes away in about seconds. Uncharted 2 strays from this because it doesn't handle nearly the technical feats Gears of war 3 does. And is much more linear and scripted.

And tearing wise, there's much less then the beta. But the reason Uncharted 2/3 doesn't have it is because of triple buffering, which ironically caues input lag. Fortenantly both are literally unnoticeable since they stand in such small amounts.

I own a PS3/X-box 360. Have played through both campaigns. And I have to say Gears of war 3 looks miles better then Uncharted 2. I can't say for Uncharted 3 because I've yet to play it.

Compare the lighting and shadows of Uncharted 2 in Shambhala to anything from Acts 1-3 of Gears 3...

Notice that shadows are more convincing. Like in God of War 3.

Don't forget there's more grass being rendered on screen. Something that's supposed to be there in Shambhala.

There is some people in here who have clearly not played Gears 3 and is playing the bias train, it is SW afterall.

Not without its flaws (like all games) Gears 3 right now is the best, or among the very best consoles have to offer.

Ehhh, Gears 3 looks fantastic. I do think it looks better than uncharted 2, but when uncharted 3 comes out I feel it won't anymore. I just feel like gears 3 didn't have as huge a leap as gears 1 to 2 had.

I am on chapter 3 in act 1..so i obviously havent seen the bulk of the campaign but the first lot on the ship i havnt seen anything that made me go wow. Maybe the levianth but thats about it.

Textures and polygons wise, they look about the same. But one is that one is beautiful, colorful and has a better framerate, and the other has brown, grey and blur and jaggies.

Geow3 looks great but i dont think its superior visually to UC2... It does excel in certain areas such as shadows but if i have to compare the game's visual while playing it i honestly dont think its better than UC2.. I still think UC2 is visually the best looking console title.. Geow3 however is up there in terms of visuals and surely its the best looking 360 title i played so far..

Uncharted & geow series are my fav new ips this gen and loved all the games... currently having a blast playing Geow3 and looking forward to UC3, I dont really care if others dont share my opinions cause you cant expect everyone to agree, specially those fanboys who own 1 console and thus believe they need to defend everything related to their beloved console :)

Or you can just pop in Uncharted 2 ina PS3 and compare. From what I've seen after playing Gears 3 campaign for a good 2 hours... Only the UC3 beta looks comparable now.

Well these are my observations from switching back and forth with Uncharted 2 on it's best looking levels. I put Shambhala and Tibet over Borneo in visuals.

And that tomb where you go into that Giant Statue's mouth.

Owning more than 1 console is a plus.

Gears 3 >> UC2 and 3 and Killzone..

I think it's because PS3 exclusives are more visually appealing and show more effort compared to multiplat efforts on the PS3.

In terms of multiplats and Xbox 360 exclusives they all look generally good.

Let's not forget that Gears kicked off the next gen graphics craze in the first place. Gears & great graphics are to be expected. As well as any new Uncharted game. Look at Uncharted on Vita for example.

Gears 2 graphics weren't really the problem, despite not aging well compared to Uncharted 2... It was the gameplay on the MP side that was an utter disappointment. If you noticeat the reviews... The game is praised more for it's gameplay than it's graphics which is a bit shocking compared to the first Gears of War.

I love how when 360 gets a game that IS graphically superior to their beloved Uncharted 2, they claim BIAS BIAS all over the place. Fact is, Epic made Gears 3 better looking both technically and asthetically than Uncharted 2. That doesn't make Uncharted 2 an ugly game.

As somebody who owns both systems and has played both games, I'll say that if it does look better, it's not by a big enough margin to brag about. It does prove that both systems are comparable power-wise though.

And I still think that Crysis 2 looks better.

haven't played Gears 3 yet from what i hear it has a good story this time so will see later. having played Gears 1&2, i have to say i was very disappointed by the game, btw i am only judging the single player could care less about the on-line campain. story in both games made no sense to me and both games did not look good at all compared to the Uncharted series.

And God of War 3 is not even close to being the best looking PS3 game. It's entirely overrated in terms of graphics. The textures are average, much of the lighting is baked, and the camera is fixed--you are basically playing on a wide ledge most of the game. Not even close to the best looking game on consoles. Killzone 3, Gears 3 and Uncharted 2 are all much more advanced in terms of what they are actually processing.

I agree, I liked the game over all. But the graphics were nothing suprising.

The only thing God of War 3 has an advantage is high quality MLAA. And MLAA has since appeared on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the game Costume Quest. The reason WE WON'Tsee that kind of AA quality in Gears 3 or Uncharted 3 is because both of these games are more technically demanding than what God of War 3 could ever dream to be.

You could take AA away from Uncharted 2 and Killzone 3 and it would still look better than God of War 3.

And Crysis 1 with no AA on PC beats them all.

GeoW 3 is still sickeningly brown.

It looks decent despite that though, it's probably technically better than UC2 but UC2 is nicer to look at. Then again, SuperStardust HD is nice to look at, so take your pick peeps :P

That's true. I'm still eagerly waiting to play the Uncharted 3 single player. Uncharted is one of my favorite series of the generation and the multiplayer for me is simply addictive and fun. As far as graphics, though, the Uncharted 3 beta certainly didn't look better than Gears 3...not even better than the Gears 3 beta. We'll see how much better the single player will look.
