Does a high quality processor have a direct correlation with price?
If that is the case, will you spend $600+ on the PS4/720?

As long as they aren't unreliable, sure. I know I'll be getting all the multiplats along with good exclusives and if this generation is anything to go by I'll get 6+ years out of the hardware so it's really a no brainer, unlike the wii which was pretty much on life support since 2010.
Rather update my PC than dish out over half a grand for a new piece of hardware with probably $70 games.
Would probably be less expensive too.
If they have the games I want, they are reliable and, just like the PS3, ensure me a 10 year cycle, hell yeah as I'd know I won't be forced to pay for another console in the short term.
[QUOTE="platniumgamer"]So, would you pay $600 for the 720?of course, can't wait for it. kinect 2.0 looks like it's going to great.no it does not.

In absolute terms, yes. The more money you throw at a CPU, chances are the faster it will be. In my experience, I prefer to buy the model which gives the more performance per dollar. Imagine if there were two CPUs, the former being $100, the latter $150. If the latter were only 1.1x more powerful ... well you might as well save your money because it is 1.5x more costly!Does a high quality processor have a direct correlation with price?

Spend $400+ on a console that will continue to be supported by 1st party and 3rd party studios 6-8 years into its life. Or buy a relatively cheap($200-$300) console that 3rd parties will leave to rot 2-3 years in and nintendo will seemingly stop supporting in 4-6 years. Yeah, I'll go with the former. MFDOOM1983Why buy a M$/sony console when you have a pc? The 360 was $400 for me and all I got was Halo, gears, catherine and RDR. My wii had twice as many games as my 360.

It's not so much what I would or would not spend.
I have priorities.
My PC comes first.
My phone comes second.
After these two are satisfactory then I have money to spend on consoles, laptops, tablets, and various other gadgets.
Generally no, I wouldn't spend half a grand on a console.
Might spend $300-$400 if I liked the library enough.
Even a $400 console would be cheaper than one of your graphics cards. Cranler
What are you talking about? My Dad bought a $75 graphics card at Best Buy and in return his $300 Dell could play Star Wars The Old Republic at Max settings.
$600 pc from 2005 is obsolete now. Even a top of the line pc from 2005 would be. Amd 4800+ and 7800 gtx was bleeding edge when the 360 launched. 4800+ was an $800 cpu and 7800gtx was $650 when it launched btw. That setup is below min spec on a lot of games now. Imagine how long it took for a $600 pc in 2005 to become obsolete for pc gamingFvck no. That kind of money would get me a gaming PC that would destroy those consoles.

The person I was replying to has a 7970 crossfire setup and was speaking as if a console over $300 was ridiculous. Oh and SWTOR has low minimum req by todays standards, not surprising since its graphics are terrible.Value determines price. If I feel that the hardware is worthy of the price, and if I feel the platform will be amply supported by games that interest me, then why not?
We rely these systems for a half decade and more. If a company can convince me their platform is the best compliment to my PC (for my tastes, at least) I'm not gonna fuss over a few dozen extra dollars per year.

WTF does this have to do with my reply to shadow death. You obviously still dont understand my point that its funny that someone with $900 worth of graphics cards wont spend more than $300 on a console. Low minimum req by todays standards mean low recomended req as well kid. Oh and the recommended gpu is a 4850. $75 gpu on new egg atm is a 4350 which is complete garbage. Daddy either got a super crazy deal, youre running super low rez, you have incredibly low performance standards and or youre a liar. Again, none of this has anything to do with my reply to shadow death
I have an Xbox and Gaming PC and I don't see myself buying another console unless they stop rehashing the same game experiences over and over and over and over again. I'll buy a Wii U for things like Pikmin, Mario anything (kart, galaxy, etc.), Little King story kinda stuff, and keep my PC.
Maybe i'll buy the Ouya too. I'll see what happens, i'm just tired of walking, wave of enemies, shooting, walking, another wave of enemies, shooting, walking, anoother wave of enemies, shooting. From COD to Gears to Killzone to Battlefield to Vanquish, everything seems so washed out and same-thingy.
If they are $600+ (which I doubt), I'll wait for a price drop, I don't usually like buying systems at launch anyways.
No, after the debacle that sony had at the beginning of this gen they (sony) as well as microsoft will be much more conservative in their next gen consoles.
360 and PS3 were $300 and $500 for entry models. Next-gen will probably see $299 Core and $399 Elite from each company.
When I purchase a console, the main factor is usually just 1 or 2 games that I absolutely must have at the time. It's not really a long-term decision. Wii had Zelda TP and Wii Sports. 360 was getting Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Those games were too good to pass on, so I went for it.
The price for the console isn't the big concern for me. It's all about having the patience to wait for games to come down in price, or knowing when to rent.
