All I hope is that this kind of thing doesn't catch on by the time Bayonetta 2 is out.

Even if Gamespot scored it 0, i would still get this awesome dungeon crawler for the Vita, cannot wait for Europe release
While I'm not offended by the art-styl personally, and don't necessarily mind some sex appeal in my entertainment media, I do find it stupid when devs go overboard and make the sex appeal so blatantly obvious like Dragon's Crown did, as if they were trying as hard as possible to make the game as sexual as possible to try and increase sales from young teenagers going through puberty.
Maybe some critics are going overboard in their criticism, and I don't think such art-styles should be censored, but TBH, I do see how some people might not exactly be able to appreciate something like Dragon Crown's art.
[QUOTE="LustForSoul"][QUOTE="Blabadon"]Who's buying it?DrTrafalgarLawIt's one of the extremely rare non-ported/non-HDRemake Vita games, so I might have to get it. Price? Overpriced unfortunately.
it's not because of that, it's the inspiration material. there's a very clear source of inspiration, but because Frank Frazetta's works were often more explicit, i'll refer from posting pics here. you might know him from the time he drew the art of a certain barbarian. While I'm not offended by the art-styl personally, and don't necessarily mind some sex appeal in my entertainment media, I do find it stupid when devs go overboard and make the sex appeal so blatantly obvious like Dragon's Crown did, as if they were trying as hard as possible to make the game as sexual as possible to try and increase sales from young teenagers going through puberty.

it's lewd, yes, but intentionally so, and that's not a bad thing, and DEFINITELY not to cater to teenagers. if lewd was a bad thing, we'd have quite a few famous renaissance paintings to deal with.
aaw come on, her running animation is adorable. look at that face, and how she holds her oversized hat to keep it from flying off.bouncy
Game actually looks solid.

on a side note, it would be much weirder if they didn't bounce. but i guess big breasts are satan now.
It's not just big boobs, look how much ankle they show as well. LustForSoul
[QUOTE="Lionheart08"]lolVideoGameJounalismfoxhound_foxIt's the new fad to be PC feminist.
My thing is, I'm not even upset over them taking note of the ridiculousness. I just find it odd that journalist only now seem to care about taking a stand to the "niche titles" and not big budget video games.
Where was this outrage when Miranda's ass was magnetically drawn to the screen in Mass Effect 2? What about Cole-Trains over the top characterization in Gears of War?Â
I bet if Atlus had bought ad space, this wouldn't even be an issue. :P
They put that in the bad section? WTF! ugh people like this make me freaking sick. If I could slap this reviewer I would cause putting that as a negative is proboly the stupidist things iv heard and deserves a good slap to the face. Im sorry but reviewers like this piss me off to no end.

Funny thing is bayonetta 1 got zero slack for the sexyness but now all of a sudden its wrong. Is he trying to impress some females or something complainging about the design.

Big boobs are considered offensive now?
If only the developers had the foresight to dress the female characters in this game with full-body hijabs. Then it would surely get a 10/10 here. princeofshapeirI spit water in laughter.
The feedbackula for this game is going to be wonderful since I know most of the comments would be about this reviwers fear of big boobs.
[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]Yesssss, I can't wait for that i just hope they highlight at least one comment pointing out that sexualization of characers was not an issue to anyone except in this game. and at least this game was consistent and threw over-sexualization both ways. The feedbackula for this game is going to be wonderful since I know most of the comments would be about this reviwers fear of big boobs.

Like I said in the other thread, this political correctness needs to die. clyde46Or at least be applied equally. Reviewers are quick to point out these "negative" things in niche Japanese titles, but oddly enough they tend to flat-out overlook them in blockbuster games like GTA and Mass Effect.

I know that technically, reviews are supposed to be boiled down for everyone, namely casuals who are the largest group of customers for anything, but to be perfectly honest a game like that is made for a specific group of people who either like or don't mind that kind of Japanese quirkiness.[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] or any game that isn't dragon's crown, really. i can think of numerous examples of games that portrayed women (and only women) with ridiculous proportions, but dragon's crown (the game that has everyone with unrealistic proportions regardless of gender) is the only game that gets called out for it in the reviews. it's come to a point where it's media bullying.BrunoBRS
Those comments that are in reference are during a very early portion of the game, which makes me wonder if she actually played the game, or just read a highlighted list from one of her assistants? I'm getting off-topic here, so I'll shut up now.

this is very true.
Kind of a stupid complaint, but it's his opinion. It's not like no one saw this backlash coming pre-release.

I was unaware about the inspiration when making that post, so I guess the art-style isn't as silly as I did originally.Â
Still find the sorceress' massive melons ridiculous though, whether they were inspired by frank Frazetta or not.
Whats offensive about boobs, everyone loves boobs don't they?
Does this mean the bigger boobs are the more offensive they are?
Thats strange cos the bigger boobs are the more appealing I find them.:)
