[QUOTE="Blabadon"]Who's buying it?TheEroicaday 1... big knockers ftw. Im gonna objectify the eff out of those women while I play... hellz yeah@! Strapping one on?
This doesn't look next-gen to me or have good graphics, look like sega almost. Thats probably why it got such a poor score if u think about it
it's not because of that, it's the inspiration material. there's a very clear source of inspiration, but because Frank Frazetta's works were often more explicit, i'll refer from posting pics here. you might know him from the time he drew the art of a certain barbarian.[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]

While I'm not offended by the art-styl personally, and don't necessarily mind some sex appeal in my entertainment media, I do find it stupid when devs go overboard and make the sex appeal so blatantly obvious like Dragon's Crown did, as if they were trying as hard as possible to make the game as sexual as possible to try and increase sales from young teenagers going through puberty.
Maybe some critics are going overboard in their criticism, and I don't think such art-styles should be censored, but TBH, I do see how some people might not exactly be able to appreciate something like Dragon Crown's art.

it's lewd, yes, but intentionally so, and that's not a bad thing, and DEFINITELY not to cater to teenagers. if lewd was a bad thing, we'd have quite a few famous renaissance paintings to deal with.
I was unaware about the inspiration when making that post, so I guess the art-style isn't as silly as I did originally.Â
Still find the sorceress' massive melons ridiculous though, whether they were inspired by frank Frazetta or not.
they're no more ridiculous than the dwarf's wardrobe consisting of "thong with a bulge and beard". that's the point i'm trying to make, they weren't making women sexy to cater to teenagers, they were doing it to everyone regardless of gender, because it's an art style. plus, lewd women in western art is nothing new, but no one rages at this painting because "kinda chubby" went out of style:[QUOTE="DJ-Lafleur"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] it's not because of that, it's the inspiration material. there's a very clear source of inspiration, but because Frank Frazetta's works were often more explicit, i'll refer from posting pics here. you might know him from the time he drew the art of a certain barbarian.

It's not like no one saw this backlash coming pre-release.

like i mentioned before, kamitami was inspired by a lot of western artwork, especially frank frazetta (of conan fame). the art style is a celebration of the body, regardless of gender, and it's not meant to be pornographic. lewd, yes, and intentionally so, but that goes both ways. also like i mentioned in this thread, lewd art is nothing new, and in fact it's exposed in museums worldwide for everyone to see, and yet our internet white knights jump on this game and call the very thing that art critics not only don't have a problem with, but praise, "a betrayal to the art of the game".
Â
on a side note, the amazon is conan with boobs. but no one has a problem with conan.

I feel the opposite, the characters in that game including the males, look so overkill that it feels more like a fun thing rather than trying to get people horny. Had they wanted to make it as hot as possible, they'd fix the proprtions, I mean many like big boobs but bigger is not always better (or at least for me), the proportion to the rest of the body is very important.Â
awww yeah, you can game with Eroica and I!I plan on getting it for the PS3.

That is the problem with gaming, really good games dont get attention
This reminds me of Atlus's Code of Princess, where the lady protagonist and final boss also had a certain lack of clothing as well. :P but reviewers didnt go all politically correct on it.bbkkristianFeminism is the "it" topic in games journalism right now, so people are dog piling on it trying to grab for those web hits.

Some are mistaking sexy designs for sexism -- that's not always the case. The Dragon's Crown characters are sexy, but they're not entirely sexist. The nameless hookers, criminal gang gurrrls, lack of any positive female characters and casting of all women as objects and jokes in Grand Theft Auto is sexist, but nobody will dare touch on it in their review.
For example Dead or Alive has a bunch of sexy boxom girls, but they're also the driving heroes of the series and outweigh the boys. Sure, they're there for eye candy, but they have a role in the game and series as heroes and villains, so to call it sexist is to just be upset the designers gave the girls big boobs. They're actually some of the more fleshed out female leads in games and they're not Anita's damsels, yet boob size = sexism appearntly.

imho i think GTA is not sexist at all. i think its more of a parody, where they hype all the relevant stereotype for dramatic and comedic effect. it doesnt isolate a gender, or a group of minorities. Male, female, gays, blacks, asians, whites, obese people, biker culture, etc. they all mistreat them equally.[QUOTE="LordOfPoms"][QUOTE="strawhatlupi"] yeap they even complain that TLoU is a sexist games because the main protagonist is a male. According to Anita, in her latest video, parody is sexist so NOPE WE CANT HAVE IT.You guys need to cut the reviewer some slack.. there's no feminist or politically-correct agenda at work, he's just try to tactfully say "this game is kinda weird and pervy". Which it totally is.

So half naked women in games = pervy while half naked men in games = ok....the logic.....

Doesint make sense to be in the "bad section".
there's a big difference between "the game is kinda weird and pervy" and "these women are a betrayal to the art style and leave a stain in the game".You guys need to cut the reviewer some slack.. there's no feminist or politically-correct agenda at work, he's just try to tactfully say "this game is kinda weird and pervy". People are trying too hard to discredit the reviewer, after all the fuss and backlash to the reviews I thought the reviews were exaggerating the lewdness in this game ...until I checked out some video reviews, and I agree ...it is borderline soft-core porn material, the character designs, the animations ...the rediculous sreadeagled sexual poses ...and those were just clips from the reviews who knows what else is there ...so I can understand why some people may find it offensive and where they're coming from, personally I don't, then again I don't find porn offensive either
Who's buying it?BlabadonME!!!! Have had the vita version payed for in full for months!!!!! Can't get here soon enough!
