And guess what? The market already determined that Wii U is the first of the next gen consoles. It's fanboys that try to use circular logic to use "technical specs" to determine generations. If that were true, PS2 would have not been in the same gen as Xbox or Gamecube. Sound silly now? Systems don't have to be "exactly" in the same spec league to be in the same generation.

Bassicaly it's like saying 16bit gen ended when Jaguar launched. But of course then sheep would argue it didn't happen, because it would mean SNES actually lost 16-bit wars..lol .
The reality is...the new gen didn't start yet. All Wii U is getting is this gen games. And games are what matter in the end.
Pretty much,with these "rules" then the Mega Drive was the winner of it´s gen beating the SNES. In fact,I´m pretty sure that by the time the Saturn came out the Mega Drive was still ahead of the SNES so same deal.
