Everyone Realizes That A $400 PS3 Is Game Over For M$ Right?

MS has a rumored new Core bundle coming and all 360 SKUs are cheaper than the speculated new PS3.

It all comes down to 2 things. Halo plus price cut is moving consoles; and it all depends on what the 'new' PS3 doesnt have.

if sony announces a $400 ps3 within the next few weeks 360 will be finished. ps3 is alreeady outselling 360 in japan and if another cheaper sku is announce the same will happen in europe and north america as well. we already have some great games like hevenly sword and resistance with more to folllow this coming holiday.-Renegade

So far, EVERY ps3 outselling the 360 prediction has fallen flat for the last year..

i don't see why this is any different...

NA has already moved to the 360 and EU is doing... leaving japan..which is devoutly Wii oriented...

Why would people buy a PS3 now? What games will they be playing? Liar and Heavenly sword? LOL

I'll go back to playing Halo3, Bioshock, Gear, Madden 08, and Forza. Later cows

The same price drop in europe would finish the race there and maybe even persuade the crowd in the UK. however, to win America and japan, games are still required.

PS3 at $399 plus MGS4 and GT5 may well make a big impact.

I don't know because microsoft spent a lot of money on their halo3 marketing and their system is still 50 dollars cheaper.

I don't know that. You need games. You listed HS (a great game but really a rental) and resistance (OK, nothing out of this world and a launch title to boot). Looks at current ps3 sales in Japan , compares it to the Wii, and compares the ps3's American sales to it's competitors

Please to note: The $100 price-cut moved a million units faster in a few months than the individual console was able to in 6 months.

Think about what a $200 price-cut would achieve--Especially would it would even out with the competitors.

Casuals love it and all of the big money tournaments are using the 360 version. That is why sales of Madden on 360 destroyed all other console sales for Madden.

when this new ps3 comes out supposdly oct. 30th there will be plenty of games for anyone to pick up. heavenly sword, resistance, warhawk, motorstorm, ninja gaiden, folklore, the eye of judgement, guitar hero 3, and RATCHET AND CLANK. then the following week with call of duty 4 and blacksite area 51 and all the big holiday release just around the corner.

I'd be pretty shocked if Sony cut the price of the PS3 twice less than 12 months after launch. Weren't they losing enough money already?

Even if they did that, a $400 PS3 wouldn't guarantee victory. There still aren't many compelling reasons to purchase the console at this time. I could see a price cut at some point in 2008, but a price cut now would be rather surprising.

Microsoft is too stringent to repeat history twice--Especially after suffering billion dollar loss in a single quarter; they may be ungodly rich, but they haven't even bothered to respond to Sony's free online network after their own customers have suggested it en masse.

With the ability to play Halo 3, a superior GTA 4 (cause of downloadable content), Madden 08 I think it is safe to say 360 is fine.mastarifla

well it was still higher then the highest priced 360.. if they announce this why would anyone not get a ps3? it will have better games plus you get a free blu ray player.

If Sony doesn't announce a $400 PS3 for this Holiday, i'll be buying my own Xbox 360. The only game i'll probably regret not being able to play is Socom, but im not spending $500+ for Socom when the rest of the games really don't interest me.

It would be better if they released some info on The Getaway (I liked it on the PS2) Eight Days and WarDevil.

ms has alredy dropped the price this year they won't do it again. sony only clearanced out the 60gb model there was no real price drop.

1. i've played a LOT of xbox live and have never heard anyone whine about the price.

2. why does it cost $10 to play Tekken on PSN if it's "free"..? at that rate they'll eclipse xbl fees with only 4 more games...;)
