Alright, you opened the can of worms. PDZ, PGR3, Kameo, Condemned, Oblivion (360 had it first, not counting PC), GRAW, FNR3 (same, last gen had it too but it sold well on 360), Dead Rising, Gears, Crackdown, Lost Planet, GRAW2, I know theres more but they are slipping my mind. Anyway say what you want but all of these games sold really, really well and due to those sales could be considered 'killer aps.'

We could talk about PS3 but that would be like kicking a dying man right in the nads. Just not right.

Oh and do you have any proof that they didnt sell well? All of those games sold over a million (except GRAW2, but thats brand new). It was taken from NPD and Nexgenwars, and I dont have the time or energy to go and find a link. Find it yourself and prove me wrong.

And yeah I saw your link. Wasnt one of the "HOT!!" exclusives Afrika? And another was Genji, the 'historical' Japanese war game with giant enemy crabs? Yeah thats a real killer app. Sorry you dont consider anything but Gears a killer app, maybe I dont consider anything on PS3 a killer app. So no excellent exclusive in what, 6 months?

if you need a link to know what i'm saying is true, then i'm sorry but you're in denial imo. and i didn't really want this to go off topic. i wanted it to remain on system specs but obviously, 360 fanboys have to go into games and sales to win just because the 360 was released over a year ago. compare that to the PS3's 4-5 months and try to sound right. it won't happen. by the end of this year, we'll see the true winner of 07 if you want to talk games. the PS3 will definitely have more exclusives than the 360 did. i could even say it will have more exclusives in one year than the 360 did in 2 years. ok and again, the PS3 has been out for no more than 6 months. and a lot more PS3 exclusives that definitely appear to be killer apps to me, have been announced for THIS year. and yup, the 360 got ONE real killer app in one year. if you think exclusives don't mean a thing you're wrong.

But there's nothing really big pin down for it anytime soon.(games get delay alot and such) But don't feel to bad the Wii is in the same state right now too.BTW I'm not dumb and hope Sony is not as well I know there will have to be one game to own on the system by the end of the year. here is another spec bit. I read that the cell is designed to work with any number of other cells connected in a hardware network, and all together they produce more power than any one cell. That would mean to upgrade for the next next gen, say PS4, all they would need to design is a multicell CPU. maybe 12 cell processors strung together forming a computer equal to a brand new rival chip designed at the same time. it supposed to save time and money and production. need to upgrade the product? just design it with 2X the cell chips! that is what the cell means, a "cell" being one small part of a much more powerful entity comprised of multiple cells, like a biological system. is this new to anyone? I'm not sure if it's true. I could'nt find any current sources so....Mordred19

well the whole point of this thread is to prove that the PS3 prevails in system specs. and well, it already has more exclusives announced for this year than the 360 did in a year. exclusive = only the PS3 will get it. understand? the 360 stands for Gears of War right now. the PS3 stands for the future and more, original games. you'll see soon.

Yawnnnn..... I am tired of having to wait for teh powa of teh celll!!!! If it is so powerful it should be showing it off already. The xbox looked better than the PS2 from day 1. We didn't have to wait a year for them to unlock it's power.

OK Ill give that to you. But keep in mind similar stuff has been said by other game makers, and games went multiplatform anyway. Ill chop off my own head, that ring a bell?

first DMC4 and now this? looks like exclusivity really is dying out, but not really. that only seems to be happening with BIG companies like Capcom and Square Enix. the PS3 IS still getting the games but Sony can no longer depend on these companies any longer for exclusives. Sony is working with smaller companies now. see the below links to get an idea. ;)

Yeah thats pretty much a standard practice. Kind of like when MS was working with Bungie to make Halo, then bought them. Or when Activision bought Neversoft. Or MS bought Rare. etc.

In the end if those companies Sony is working with can produce great games, itll be great. But if they cant, it wont mean anything.

You could argue MS is going a few steps further with the XNA development initiative.

i remember that. but i just don't see MGS4 going multiplat. Kojima just doesn't want the game to be running on that kind of level. he wants to get the most out of the PS3 as much as he possibly can. see what happened with DMC4? now they'll have to half-ass it, just so it could run the same code on both consoles. it won't be as pretty is it could've been if it would've been a PS3 exclusive. Kojima doesn't want that with MGS4. he wants it to look like the best MGS4 ever created, which means it'll have to be on the PS3. for spec reasons ;)

i want to see Bungie bring something new for a change. they've only brought Halo to the table. they don't have to, knowing they made for money for microsoft than any other developer has, but i'd like to see that they're capable of doing something else that's great, something more creative than just a shooter. i guess that's why i wasn't a huge fan of the xbox. not enough variety. the main things that they were known for was shoot here and shoot there. and more shooting. maybe once in a while they'll get a great RPG like Fable and KOTOR.

the graphics were better and it offered the better online service out of the two. but it didn't a huge variety of games. it was all shooter here, racer there. that was pretty much it. how many good RPG's could you count on it? KOTOR 1 and 2, Fable and Jade Empire? that's 4. lol. how many platformers? none. how many adventure games? 1. Stranger's Wrath. how many action adventure? 1. Ninja Gaiden. see? now go see the PS2's endless variety. you'll go nuts. that's my point. and so far, i haven't seen anything that impressed me beyond belief on the 360. Gears was good but it didn't deserve a 9.6. and every time i say GS favors the xbox over the playstation the thread gets locked. why? lol. go figure.

No. Better is a subjective term. The PS3 is more powerful, but not necesarily better.

Resistance definitely is one. Motorstorm and VF5 could be considered killer apps by some, as well.

None of those are KA's in my eyes. I have played better shooters than RFOM, better racers than MS, and better fighters than VF5. I own all 3 by the way.

No. Better is a subjective term. The PS3 is more powerful, but not necesarily better. 

more power means you could take the game further. doing things no other console could. the xbox never took full advantage of this. it focused on making the same shooter over and over. and that is what i mean. the PS3 is better because of the specs. the console itself. the PS3 is better. just like the xbox was better than the PS2. the console itself. i'm not talking about how much it sold and the games for it because obviously, it's still new. the 360 isn't. it's last year.

 and yep, i brought up exclusives earlier because it will have more by the end of this year than the 360 did on its first. and they will, most likely, be killer apps. go take a look at them, they don't look horrible at all. instead, the complete opposite. and they look original. not the same thing over and over like Microsoft does. go look at Too Human. the main character looks like an Unreal character. or a Halo character. or a Gears character. this un-original tradition of the Xbox needs a break because imo, it's getting old. Microsoft is proving that they're only capable of making a game for adults.

now, if you want to talk about the better overall system, the PS2 kills the Xbox for obvious reasons. it's a game console and it has more games.

and right now, overall, yes, the 360 is doing better than the PS3 is. why? it's been out for over a year. give the PS3 some time.

I just wanted you to admit that the xbox is a better console than the PS2. it is the better console. if you're looking for graphics and online. not if you're looking for GAMES. yeah but see, that's not really what i'm saying here. what I'M saying is, i will always go for the console that delivers the better games. you could have a huge list of games in your library but that doesn't mean they're all good. i already have a PS3 so i don't care about the price. other people do, yah, but i don't. looking at those upcoming PS3 exclusives, i don't regret getting a PS3. looking at the 360's, i don't see much of anything new there. sure it all comes down to sales in the end, but i could care less about that. i'm in it for the GAMES. the PS2 killed the Xbox for that reason. now say the 360 goes in that same, un-original direction again, oh man... and i posted the specs just so people could see that the PS3 kills the 360 in the department of specs. all went off topic after that, all these angry 360 fanboys couldn't handle it. so i went with it, just for the sake of a debate. and of being bored and young and nothing else to do at the moment. lol.

And just because you're looking forward to the '07 exclusives for the system you own, doesn't mean everyone else is too. Because to be honest with you, when Mass Effect and Halo 3 come out for the 360, PS3 fanboys are gonna have to yell "PS3 has better games!" I don't really take sides in particular here. On this forum I tend to play as a Devil's advocate. I also like to point out peoples' stupidity.

About everyone on system wars being a fake gamer. If you put it that way, then yes. There's a lot of people on this forum that seem to visit this site more than they use the console they're trying to defend. Most of the time its because they're trying to justify their purchase for whatever reason that may be. (insecurity? meh) 

There's no reason why you should let someone or a group of people tell you what games to play and what system you should have. If they are, then they are are just using a bandwagon fallacy to get you to play the games they are playing (aka tools, loners, etc). When you look at the big picture, who cares what games they are playing. Just because a game got a better score than a game you have doesn't mean you'll like that game better than the one you have.

Same thing with consoles. Just because one system has better hardware it doesn't necessarily mean that it's more enjoyable. If you're happy and content with what you have, then game on. If you are yearning for something better, then you can consider buying a new console.

If someone tells you that a certain game or console is better and you try it out first and end up liking it, then by all means you can begin to consider buying that game or console. When it comes to gaming, it's all about yourself(the gamer) and not bandwagon.

If your close friends are part of a bandwagon, then it's understandable that you want to get the console or game they have (for online and offline multiplayer etc).

I see alot of theory on this page.  But I WANT to see results.  Even if, as the developer claims, in a few generations we start seeing more PPU-centric development, the damage will already have been done to the PS3.  As the Xbox showed all of us last gen, there's clearly more to moving systems than horsepower alone.

yep you're right. but don't forget that the xbox was dealing with sony, which is the main reason microsoft failed. sony has a lot more japanese support. obviously. and they're dealing with Sony again. and as time goes by, imo, Sony will catch up. won't be too hard, judging by what i've seen on the xbox 360. screw the sales, i want a real game console. a console that will offer more variety. and i suspect the PS3 will do this first.

Even the sales aren't that big of a deal right now. If NexGen Wars is even remotely accurate, 11 million vs 3 million sold in the span of time that each console has been released is not a huge gap. The Wii seems to be stealing the 360s thunder.
