My top games this generation are Fable 2-3, Mass Effect 1, Demons Souls, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey All got flopped on Gamespot, which is the only site that flopped ALL my best games this generation and has lost any credibility in reviews for me Mass Effect didn´t flop though,it had a 9.0 on the PC.But that version came out like half a year later. When the game was first being hyped it was a 360 exclusive, it was hyped AAA but scored AA so yeah it flopped. :)

I bought it. I'm liking it. No matter how many times someone says the word "flop", it won't detract my enjoyment. I bought fable 1 and 2 they days they came out as well. I was saddened to see the gamespot scores for those games, but I was not saddened while I played those enjoyable games.

I am just having a great time running around buying up property and businesses in efforts to amass a fortune. It is nice to adjust the rent to high and watch the gold roll in and the people start to despise you, lol. Then there are the numerous side quests, exploring a beautiful world, terrorizing citizens, murdering towns, robbing houses and shops while wearing a chicken or dog suit, trying to find all of the golden and silver keys for chests and golden doors, getting into the Demon Doors, searching for the 50 evil gnomes, trying to collect the legendary weapons, sacrificing people at the Dark Sanctum, etc. All of this is while I am on my way to becoming king, which will then open up even more opportunities for fun. There is just so much to do and enjoy when you go off the 'bread crumb trail' and that is where the value of this game lies. I think Gametrailers summed this up rather well in their review.
Well, after playing through the introduction, the game just opens up and becomes so much fun. It is ALOT better than it started, and better than Fable 2. I can see why GS rated it low since most of the reviewers are hardcore gamers and the game is rather simplified. I find that GT's review summed up the game better, and were a bit more open-minded. Its definitely not a 9, but its not a 7.5 either. Personally, id rate it an 8.5 so far.
I agree, for a hardcore gamer that likes mainly RPGs, is about 8.5, for me that like both RPGs and Zelda is a 10/10 though since it uniquelly combines elements of both (and strategy/adventure too) It is the Zelda of 360 for me and then someWell, after playing through the introduction, the game just opens up and becomes so much fun. This one requires more strategy in combat rather than just spamming the X, B, and Y buttons. You actually have to mix up your tactics if you want to survive. I also like the addition of the screen fade as your health gets low. I cant count how many times i almost died in Fable 2 because i forget to look up at the tiny health bar lol. The one thing that i absolutely hate is the removal of all the magic you can have at one time. Going back to switch magic cuz you can only carry one is just lame IMO. Though the new way you wield the magic is awesome, you really feel like you actually have it running through you rather than just shooting out :PWell, after playing through the introduction, the game just opens up and becomes so much fun. ok so i'm playing the co-op with my friend last night and he does the acting quest an we burst out laughing since he has to get in drag to start the qst, then right after that one finishes up he has to put on the chicken suit then do the chicken dance and get the chickens to follow him and again we are laughing like mad.
this game is so much fun and nothing could demonstrate how out of touch i am with reviewers than to watch this game get average scores.
i guess all in all i don't think it's some earthshattering game that deserves a 10 or anything but still it bugs me to see something so good get less than it deserves.
am i splitting hairs? maybe since i would prolly only give it an 8 or an 8.5 but still seeing this great game get referred to as flop around here and the mentality that that is the word that allows people to just turn their brain off and not hear another word is mos def facepalm worthy.
here we all are crying at the lack of good writing and storytelling in games and then when something that is entertaining comes along and fanboys get to answer every word of praise about it with "FLOP".
what a shame that people would let theit hardcoredness get in the way of playing an entertaining game.
i guess the upside is that half the people on my friend list was playing it last night so my guess is it will sell over a million and get a sequel and maybe pete will get one more chance to make the hardcore crowd unhappy by making games for casuals.
The morphing weapon system is pretty neat as well. I started off being good, trying to win the hearts of the people and my weapons had white accents and generally looked like something a good guy would use. However, after turning full blown evil, my weapons have become gnarled and sinister looking with sharp edges and red tribal highlights that glow at times. Really cool how your weapons start to reflect you and your actions in their appearance.
The requirements for upgrading the weapons is also a really nice touch, I might add. Such as having to kill 100 humans with a certain hammer in order to increase it's damage or killing x-amount of a specific enemy with a certain rifle in order to get money from every kill. The fact that each weapon has different requirements and different kinds of upgrades really encourages you to use all the weapons and goes even further in adding something to work towards in the game. Is the combat simple? Yes, but it is just fun and there is still so much to take in and enjoy here overall. Being fun with a lot to do in a beautiful world is enough... at least for me.

You will be able to wear two gauntlets at once later in the game. In other words, you can mix two of any spell type that you want for some really nice effects. Such as shock and flame, fire and ice, force push and ice, vortex and fire, on and on... you get my drift.

I bet over half the people who have not played it that have decided to jump on the hate wagon would change their tune if they gave it a try and saw that it actually has a lot to offer. That is, if they would merely let down their "I'm too hardcorez for teh Fablez" guard and remember that entertainment and fun is the point here. Not every game has to be complex in order to qualify as being good. That said, there is still plenty to do and manage here. You get out of this game what you put into it.

But didn't you get the memo? Games aren't for playing and having fun anymore. They are for proving ownage. Why would I want to play a game when I could go on SW and shout "FLOP"? But it does make me wonder what game the reviewers of FO:NV and F3 were playing. Both of these low scoring games are absolutely amazing, fun, and addictive as all get out. I can't believe they released two addictive RPGs so close together. I'm loving life right now.Just to give people who have not played it an idea of the fun that can be had, I am going to give a side quest as an example. It will include spoilers of course, but again, it is merely one of the side quests and in no way spoils the story. So, read if you want. It is quite hilarious.
There is one particular side quest in Brightwall Village where an unhappy husband wanted me to help him get his wife to divorce him. So, I have to flirt with her, gain her affection, take her on a date, etc until she decides that she wants to divorce her husband and be with me instead. After she hands the divorce papers to the husband, he merely thanks her for doing exactly what he knew she would. She then proposes that since I am so devious, why not kill her husband and have a rich wife instead? At this point I had to choose what I wanted to do. Very well, I killed him where he stood, married the woman, took her to secluded area where I proceeded to kiss her... Then I promptly farted in her face and bashed her brains in. After which, I bought her house and rented it out for more profit.
Like I said, just plain fun to be had here, folks.:)
lol, that was so awesome lol. Can you
get her money when she dies since you were her husband? I miss some of the things they took away (choice of expression, health bar, real inventory) but I think the positives greatly outweight the negatives. It's a great game. I think people are just having fun tearing it apart because it's an exclusive made by one of Microsoft's flagship developers. donalbaneWhile real gamers have a blast playing it, and have 10/10 fun and immersion in a new world

Dude Target next week B2G1 Free New Vegas, Fable 3..... ehhhh Still, Black Friday deals will be better.gamespot is just in most of their criticisms... unfortunately they seemed to think the bad meant they could completely ignore the good.
I have about 20 hours of play time in fable 3 (and im still not even king yet! side questing and exploration ftw)... and while i dont care for alot of the changes in core gameplay mechanics from fable 2 to 3... the gameworld is much larger and more robust/varied and the quests are alot more innovative and inventive. I would need to go back and replay fable 2 to see if it really is an overall downgrade... but if it is, its minor.
and one thing i will never understand is the constant complaining about the combat system... its a console action/rpg... if people think the combat is too simple i would love to hear exactly how it should be handled. The combat is absolutely fine... but i much preferred the spell system of fable 2. It sounds like everyone wants the combat to be that of a third person shooter or something. I havent seen many action/rpg games with a better combat system if any.... but only fable gets trashed for it.

That's what most haters don't get. There is definitely some depth of gameplay here, but it manifests itself in ways other than the RPG elements.

Average is 8.4/10, so Famitsu is 0.35 points away and Gamespot a 1.00 away, much more Also only 11 out of 78 reviews gave the game below 8/10 and 35 gave it 9.0/10 and above, meaning Gamespot is definatly in the minority in this one I cant grasp how they gave lower than fable 2, the game is more challeging, far deeper, far bigger and more varied with better story, quests and side quests, upgraded visuals etc It is just an opinion of course, like all reviews, but one i find extremely off myself, since the game is hands down one of my all time favourites right now and i have not even finished it yetwow... first Fallout New Vegas, now Fable 3? yeesh. From what I remember, Confrontation was almost unplayable because of the techinical issues. Lag, couldn't connect, disconnections. As for Lair, that was more of a design issue. Requiring players to use the Suxaxis wasn't a good decision lol.
Either way, GS won't be re-reviewing anything. They'll just include the "After the Fact" writeup to the top of the review.
