You should probably just buy the original games and check them out for yourself. However if you don't like turnbased games and old graphics you might not be able to stand it.[QUOTE="Pro_wrestler"]I never played Fallout..I wonder if this will give insight on the originals.smokeydabear076

LOL!!! same here, when I first played Fallout I was like wtf, aww man the graphics are a POS and turn based?? what is this the 90s but then I played more and I was like I think I love this game and I will always remember it
[QUOTE="Memoryitis"][QUOTE="Mordred19"][QUOTE="Vis-a-Vis"]Is this fallout with a first person perspective? Or is it a completely new take on the franchise? Because if it's the former, why complain? It worked for the Metroid series, why not fallout? If it's the latter, then ehh...I guess we'll wait and see.
Oscar-Wilde
It's not nearly that simple. "Fallout" 3 is a shallow zombie shooter compared to the Fallout games.
And how did you end up with that conclusion?? Watching 5 seconds of gameplay video they showed?
Indeed, i honestly would like to see where people have gotten these ideas since there's barely been any info, at least none that i can find.

That is a pretty good, unbiased preview. No doubt this game will be great! But most likely not a true fallout sequel.
I don't mind the disappointment towards the concepts of Fallout 3. What I think is most incredibly childish however, is this complete and utter hate for Bethesda. Bethesda are fantastic developers, we've seen it in them from Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and some aspects of Oblivion. Whilst purists tend to dislike Oblivion gameplay-wise (Many Elder-Scrolls fans still enjoy it at least for lore, and the 'fun' combat), it's only one game in which they took a step down the ladder. And with this sophomore effort in a 'consolized' industry, we're getting comments like "Oh, it's from Bethesda, what else would you expect". What. The. ****. Okay, so they made one game which went for mass appeal. So that automatically makes them a failure? Slight digression, but what's funny is that Crytek are pretty much hailed as gods, even when they've made only two games -- one which is arguably just a prettier version of the other. But why are they praised to be as good as Valve, Infinity Ward, Bungie etc? Because they're first and foremost PC devs. Yeah, I'm looking at you PC Elitists. Just because you're not the only one under Bethesda's flabby arm anymore, giving you the manboob nourishment you're craving for, does not mean you can throw a fit like a spoilt child and call them losers, telling them they're crap devs just because a couple of other kids have been given some love too. It's fine and dandy to hate the game. But anything along the lines of "Oh, another Bethesda game " is in the deep end of immaturity.FrozenLiquid
:| you mean morrowind and fallout fans right?.. cause I personally want this game. Plus I don't think a single person here has said a bad thing about bestheda.
Yeah that is one of the main things I don't want to be missing. When they think simple things such as prostitution, groin shots, and whales in the middle of the desert are immature, who knows what else they will consider immature and take out? I expect the game to be great, but not great for the same reasons that Fallout and Fallout 2 were. If I'm wrong I'll be happy. If I'm right I'll still be happy because that wouldn mean I still consider the game to be "great".Memoryitis
I was thinking the exact same thing, prostitution, and the whales lmfao and all that crazy funny humor in the dialogue, if people will remember Fallout1/2, its their hilarious dialogue
But Bethseda is trying to keep most of the original fallout stuff, just you are playing in a different perspective now
A lot of developers say that kind of a thing and don't do it, but I hope that they do stay true to the series as much as possible. Personally I don't really mind the first person perspective a whole lot. I remember back before we knew it was a FPS I was arguing with people in the PC forums about what the best perspective would be if it changed and they got all upset at me because I said FPS would be the best alternative.I don't mind the disappointment towards the concepts of Fallout 3. oh yes. definetly. people shouldn't look at Bethesda in general as something to be worried about. the right thing to do is to focus on Fallout 3 itself.

Eh, I can stomach bad graphics(Playing MK3 from '95) but I absolutely despise turn based, mainly JRPGs but I found the turn based gameplay in Eternal Sonata to be forgiving and enjoyable. I would like to find a copy of those old classics I missed(Fallout, Daggerfall, Deus Ex) but it will probably be expensive and a longshot.

Deus Ex is $10 on STEAM and I think they have Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics on one DVD for $20. So I wouldn't say that it is too expensive. Yeah the system works really well if you ask me.What I find from Morrowind fans is that they're taking Oblivion's action-RPGness much easier than proud 'hermits', for want of a better term. I've got a few friends that are TES geeks, and even though they're a little disappointed with Oblivion, they can still stand to play it unlike some people have told us around here. Anyway check the first reply to the OP, and look at the harsh statements from users made in the latest preview of Fallout 3. I didn't make these sentiments up, y'know.:| you mean morrowind and fallout fans right?.. cause I personally want this game. I read that they did a horrible job with the controls on the PC (one of the main reasons why the scores are so different). When developers focus on one platform and forget simple things like controls for another there is a reason to get pissed. Also they said they would do a bunch of amazing things and didn't deliever. Epic gets that "OMG it's bethesda " treatment too. UT3 was targeted towards casual people and I didn't really like it, but that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that most of their previous games are amazing.

I didn't say it wasn't the same thing? I'm not particularly complaining anyway, since after playing Army of Two and looking at Gears of War 2 scans, my graphical cravings have been satisfied since Crysis. I would rather have it targeted towards the people like me. The fact is we don't always get what we want in life and the game isn't being targeted to that audience. I'm still going to buy this game, I will probably enjoy it a way different to the way that I enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2 which is fine. However I would prefer to enjoy the game the same way I enjoyed the original games.[QUOTE="-RPGamer-"]I have to be one of the few Fallout fans that not jaded about the franchise being targeted at a wider audience. The thing that bugs me a bit here is how people can't understand why others are upset. It's like you have been going to a diner for 7 years, they have been serving the same ol uber family recipe tasty cheeseburgers for years there and then all of a sudden some else buys the diner. Instead of remaining faithful to the old tradition they turn it into a sushi restaurant. When I walk into the diner I'm expecting my cheeseburger that I have been eating for years there now, but all I can get is some sushi. You're damn right I'm not going to be happy about it. There is nothing childish about being upset about this kind of a thing. The newcomers are going to laugh at the oldtimers when they are upset with the change, but they would be just as upset if they couldn't get their sushi because someone decided to make a burger joint in its place. So please don't act perplexed about the reaction towards these changes. It is perfectly understandable. Some people like the changes, some people don't, and some people don't care. There is no reason to single the fans of the old games out and act like they are a bunch of whining babies.
Now I know you are a fan of the old games and welcome the change, but do you understand why others might not want the changes?
What bugs me isn't why some people are upset it the extent of the whining and complaining I see. If you don't like it that much fine tell the developer, making a big deal over it here as I see some people doing is imho a poor attitude (hence the word "jaded").
Sure seeig the dark humor being viewed as something not needed for the franchise is something I don't like (it's not that I "don't care"), but I'm not going to keep beating that dead horse thread after thread.

Just curious, but is anyone who has actually played the first two games actually looking forward to this bastardization of a franchise? It seems like eveyone hyped for this game has no prior experience with the Fallout series. I could be wrong here, just an observation. drnick7
i really enjoyed fallout and found it to be one of the best wrpg games i ever played. its stood out from other games at the time with great story and fun gameplay. made other great games out there at the time not so great when compared to fallout 2.
im not that interest in fallout 3. doesnt mean it wont be good just have to wait and see. i hope Bethesda doesnt butcher the game and will try their best to follow the fallout story and plot premise. i liked oblivion, but the main story was very dull imo and im not excited about the elder scroll similar type of gameplay for fallout 3.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!
Why wasn't this game created for the soon to be released 10200 NVidia N Series graphics cards. Doesn't Bethesda know that the card can literally push 3 trilliion and 1 polygons a second. I know for certain you could have created a fully realised game world with this graphics card. ME and my mate George from down the road were definitely going to buy one just for this game. It's disgusting how Bethesda have sold out. I hope they enjoy their millions from their kidbox flop60, because I for one and my mate George from down the road won't be buying it.
Bethesda is dead to me now. Excuse me while I continue my endless quest to tweak Crysis' config to push a few more frames. Soon I will realise my dream.

Hmmmm I hope thats a joke post because it is pretty funny. Make a game for a video card that less then 2% of the gaming population will have or make it for a consoles and pc so pc's can actually run it. Hmmmmm hard decision? Fact is Fallout games have never been technically impressive but this game looks pretty good even the preveiws have said so it certainly looks better then the average game coming for pc this year. So why any hermit would complain is beyond me.

Um in what way? If current engines cant scale from high end pc to consoles then that game wont be played by 3% of the gaming community. Its simply unbeliveable to me why hermits dont understand this. If you want to worry about stuff crippling your game worry about all the pc users who have pc's that are not anywhere near as good as current consoles( and according to the steam population theres lots of them). If you are talking about dubbing down of gameplay and such I find that funny also considering Oblivion was the highest rated and best selling ES game ever.
Um in what way? Polaris_choice
It's not using the more powerful hardware on PC if it will look the same as on consoles. Bassicaly thw console versions are keeping the PC one from looking as good as it coud. So it is the same thing as the DS-360 example, only on obviously smaller scale.

Ermm..usually dumbed down games do sell better you know (well on consoles, on PC they mosty sell worse):) There's no denying Oblivion was dumbed down,
Fallout will turn from being an RPG to an action game, it may be still good though. I think its better to see it being made rather than just being forgotten.
I hope they add a proper interface for the PC version, the gimped menus in oblivion were really annoying.
I wonder if they will be charging the Lemmings extra for DLC stuff again? Its great fun seeing that happen :)tenaka2

1200 MS points to turn off the bits of level scaling (Yes, Fallout 3 has some level scaling).[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]That alone doesn't, but Bethesda's willingness to issue thousands of retcons, remove the isometric turn based gameplay, completely not focus on story, and remove the darkhorse humour for their own childish crap basically goes against everything that made Fallout, Fallout.and did consoles do any of those things?Okay, I see Hermits having a damn Cow in here and I don't know why.
Since I don't know anything about Fallout, can someone explain to me how making the 360 the lead platform somehow will make the game "fail"?
Dreams-Visions
I'm just trying to make sure I understand the anger...and if it's directed towards consoles somehow handicapping it or if it's just for Bethesda.
It makes sense, whens the last time you saw a Fallout 1/2 type game on consoles? there was no way of making Fallout 3 the traditional style and having it multiplat ... just like Dragon Age being PC exclusive for the style of game it is.
I mean remember the baldurs gate II console versions? action hack and slashes ... resembled barely anything of the originals and they were ****
