.[QUOTE="Nedemis"][QUOTE="ComBaTsOuL"] Where did you get your info that its only being released in the us?? why wouldnt it be released in the uk...double_heist

Either way, does having the Japanese VA really matter?

It's a bonus and I prefer subs over dubs. I know a lot of people who prefer subs over dubs who aren't Japanese wannabes and dorks.

yeah, I always find subs more immersive for some reason.

It's got to be play in its original form, otherwise, it's like you're playing an inferior version.

True, apparently, people forget it originated on the NES.

and ff7 and 8 are on PC,so even WHEN SE went to PS1,it was still multiplatform.

Oh yeah, can't believe I forgot about those to.

Well any debate thatmight have been possible as to exclusivity, is officially done and dusted :P

Voice acting in FF-games have always been pretty good. It's only in games like Vesperia and Star Ocean japanese voice-acting would be a welcome.

[QUOTE="TheWiikestLink"] it was never exclusive.....LosDaddie

True, apparently, people forget it originated on the NES.

The big budget FF games were exclusive to PS2 last gen. And yup, it was a big deal here in SW when FF13 got announced for the X360

It's like what some have said in this thread: It just feels natural to play FF on a PS console

:)

Some of the games were exclusive.

FF 1-3 originated on the NES. Appeared on a number of systems after.

FF 4-6 originated on the SNES. Appeared on a number of systems after.

FF 7 - 9 originated on the PS1. Ported to PC.

FF 10 stayed on PS2.

FF 11 was on PS2, Xbox 360, PC.

FF 12 stayed on PS2.

The series has never been an exclusive. Only two titles in the main series remained that way.

I think 360 and PS3 fanboys need to get over themselves :P

360 fanboys think they've earned a huge franchise. PS3 fanboys think they've lost a PS exclusive. Lulz.

I'd rather have 30 second disc-changes than 2-20 minute installs.

And thank you for stating the obvious. We all know DVD has less space than a BD.

-Traveller-

Well, it is kind of a big deal to finally have a main FF (not that online crap) on the 360, regardless if it was exclusive or not (it wasn't), but I do agree that 360 fans shouldn't bash Sony fans for it.

In fact, when games go multiplatform, everyone should be happy that more people get to experience the game. I guess logic doesn't fit well into arguments around here.

i really dont understand this thread lol. First, its from a blog lol, secondly, like we didnt already know that the 360 version would be on multiple discs, more of a reason that the blog is questionable, because being on multiple discs doesnt mean they have to sacrifice the integrity of the game. Nor does bluray ensure a better game. I guess, sadly, it makes fanboys feel good, and if so, they have bigger problems than they know :P

I think I read the same thing in the IGN FF Q&A, though I can't remember. I don't see why they can't put the 2 seperate language tracks in, if spanning more than a single disk, that could just be my ignorance though :P

Fanboys are easy to please at the end of the day, you just have to give them information, that doesn't even verify a Japanese soundtrack :D

I'm loving all of these defensive responses from the anime snobs... Especially the one that proclaims that I have an "odd hatred of Japanese culture." I love Japanese culture - I just have a strong distaste for armchair enthusiasts who get passionate about hearing things in a language most of them are too lazy to actually learn, defending it vehemently whenever somebody says something negative about their preference... All the while hypocritically proclaiming that the English voice acting, which many prefer, is terrible. Precisely why I call you lot snobs - you're quite happy to sit there and defend your preference of language to hear it in, proclaiming the person who said something negative as a "hater of Japanese culture" and that your preference is really just superior, all the while openly disparaging the preferences of those who prefer the English voice acting. In short, hypocrites much? You want me to lay off you trend-hugging culture panderers? Perhaps when you stop looking down your nose at people like me who enjoy hearing things in our native language.Shafftehr

Your post generally came across as overly arrogant, as does this one. That's all. People are entitled to like what they like, doesn't make them "snobs" in any way.

People can prefer the English VA, people can prefer the Japanese VA, I personally prefer both. Like I said, people like what they like, at the end of the day.

You need to stop insulting people and grow up a little bit.

I wish that many more niche JRPG (not FF) should just go the route of being sub-only. I don't need the dub for these games, cause it's usually not very good. Instead they could focus more of their resources on just getting a good translation going, and actually read it over for mistakes.

As for a game like FF, I'm sure the VA will be good in English for the most part so having the option to go between the two isn't as needed (albeit still a nice to have).

You're being a bit over the top sir. Everyone knows how terrible English dubbing is for imported games (although Square usually does a fine job).

It's very understandable why anyone would want the option for voices in the original language, obsessed enthusiast or not.

oh and when you actually do know the language, it sounds a lot more natural then the english dubs.

Considering I don't speak Japanese, and wasn't going to play it with the Japanese voice acting turned on anyway, does not affect me. As long as it plays the same on the 360, then I'll be OK. Othewise, I'll wait until I get a PS3, even though that won't be for a long time. But stinks for those who want that option.

Umm couldn't they just release the japanese voices later? They did the same with Naruto: Rise of a Ninja. Sure, Final Fantasy is bigger, but I'm sure it could work if the demand was high enough.

I'll take back what I said about you hating japanese culture, I was in the wrong assuming that. But you are acting like a child. I actually agree with you to an extent about some hardcore anime-lovers (otaku) hating on alot of great english dubs. But these people do not represent every anime enthusiast out there.

Thats all I'm going to say about this crap...

Anyways, yea I'm excited for FF 13!

Not to big of a deal... I want to see if anything else has to be changed or not... BTW... Does anyone know if They still don't have roam on Multiple Discs or is it already planed to be on Multiple discs? It would really show of Blu-Ray if They had Two+ discs on 360 and could not have The Japanese VA while the PS3 would get one disc with it...

Agreed. Minus one specific scene in FFX (that has been made fun of since the beginning of time), the dubs have been very good. The lip-syncing was off and that was annoying but beyond that I had no complaints. What I think this boils down to is that Square might actually take advantage of the Blu-ray disc format and offer a little bit more to the PS3 users out there that might want it. Not many devs have done this with multi-plats.

Even if the english voice acting is lackluster I don't see how listening to Japanese voice acting (when I don't speak or understand Japanese) would be any better. I don't think I could even tell if the Japanese voice acting was good or bad.

[QUOTE="Trinners"]

I watch lots of anime and I always watch them in japanese dub with english subtitles.

English voiceacting seems so forced and unnatural.

Animal-Mother

Cowboy bebop has some phenomal voice acting though

True, but it's still the only example that springs to mind. :(
