For Playstation bros looking to find peeps to play with hit up the PS3 lounge. There's a few people playing in there (but we're all split on different worlds) and you'll definitely be accepted into any free company through any of us. All the SW lounge peeps tend to flock to Gilgamesh as well.
As for people curious about the game's quality here's a copy and paste post from the FFXIV subreddit.
I will try to give you the most straight answer I can.
It is a wonderful MMORPG. It is immersive, does almost everything right, is absolutely bloated with content from 1-50 and has decent end game which will only get better. It has a much better crafting system than almost any other themepark MMO. You can literally just be a fisherman if you want all the way up to level 50 or blacksmith. You will never run out of fun things to do or feel like your grinding on the path to 50.
With that said, it is a theme park game. Meaning its a questing PVE centric game. If you want PVP or EVE or UO this game is not for you. If you are a hardcore raider type that devours content in a week this game may not be for you. You should stick to WOW.
Everything it tries to do it does right though, there is no grind only fun and there is enough end game content to keep 95% of people happy that arent super hard core raiders that play eight hours a day.
Above all else thouogh, the game feels alive. Its new, its fresh, and its successful. You dont see people bitching about anything but maybe housing prices. The servers are full of every level range. It is a huge financial success and square has a ton of content in the pipes for it. What was the last MMO that felt that way? That within a few months was not completely getting blasted by its user base for missing and incomplete things? I honestly cant think of one since WOW..
