Like I said, I have had no problem with GFWL games while living in a region GFWL doesn't cover. Does Microsoft love me?

charizard1605

What country do you have in your account settings?

The country where I live. Absolutely no issues, it was listed and everything.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] >the game is not being sold in your country >your only possible option for obtaining the game is pirating it >you really want to play the goddamn game, so you HAVE to pirate it to play it because of retarded GFWL it is as simple as that. it isn't as detestable as someone pirating the game when they have the option of purchasing it; people outside of those listed countries do not have that luxury and are therefore FORCED into pirating the game if they want to play it.lundy86_4

Reasons that matter:

  1. It's illegal to pirate a game.

If it is not legally available in your country, you shouldn't be playing it. Is it a problem with distribution channels? Yes. Is it the law? Yes.

You aren't forced into anything. It's not a necessity.

i'd really love to hear if you'd be such a white knight if a game you were hyping wasn't available in your country for purchase for some retarded distribution reason. of course, you are a console gamer, so this sort of thing is understandably outside your realm of experience...

I don't see why my opinion would change. If it were a necessity, it would be a different story. Such as lacking antibiotics or treatment that could save somebody's life. Not an entertainment piece that holds little value beyond something to entertain the user.

I'm a PC gamer who has consoles, idiot. You shouldn't assume something to be true, just because you lack the information to make a sound judgement

It's illegal, end of story.

for every one person like you there are hundreds of others who don't have access to GFWL in their country. one anecdote from a forum poster isn't enough to override a legitimate fault of GFWL, sorry.

Just pick a different country then. I've been using a UK Xbox Live account for years and my brother uses a US one, no issues.

It has nothing to do with white knightism. It has to do with you're having the mentality of a child. Gimme gimme gimme or else. It isn't anymore complicated than that.

[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]Of course the game is going to get pirated considering how many will be forced to do so if they wish to play it thanks to GFWL. That, plus no access to save files due to pointless achievements as well as other such GFWL features like no mod support. Maybe inform yourself next time before uttering such foolish, foolish words.

princeofshapeir

Man, those are the most pettiest and childish reasons to pirate a game that you muppets have been begging on your knees for since the spiritual predecessor came out 3 years ago.

You dipsh!ts are an embarrassment and it's thanks to you guys that legitimate pc gamers have to put up with the constant bs and disrespect from publishers. :|

no, sir, YOU are a legitimate disgrace to PC gamers because you arementally retarded.

GFWL is only available in these countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Mexico
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russian Federation
  • Singapore
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

if you do not live in those countries there is no legal way you can purchase a game using only GFWL. thus, the publisher is not selling their game in your country, so thereisn't any loss for them if you pirate their game. do you really think someone who wants to play their game is going to sit with their thumb in their ass andnot pirate it? do you really think it matters to the developer if you pirated their game or not becausethere was never any potential for you to buy the game in that country anyway?

piracy is perfectly reasonable for people who CANNOT purchase GFWL games because they are not available in their countries. if you can't understand that you are a true idiot.

So because it's not available for purchase in your country then that gives you the right to steal?

God how old are you and where is this sense of entitlement coming from?

When did games go from being a simple hobby to being a basic neccessity for life? :?

I guess when you have the social skills of a starving wolf locked in a hen house then I can see why you would cling so dearly to games.

FYI Einstein, you can just use MS points( which can be bought everywhere) to buy the game from whichever country it's being sold in but of course you would know that if you were actually intending to buy the game.

Thanks for proving my point about hermits. :|

guys, just because the game is not available in your country now does not mean it wont ever be in the future. Saying that pirating is justified cause you cant buy it, is wrong. Also, are you sure that there arent any other way to buy the game legally (ebay for example). Sure buying it from ebay does not benefit the company that made and distributed the game, but illegally pirating the game prevents even those who could have profited from other legal transactions.

ps. I am not exactly sure if ebay is a legal transaction site but i am just using it as an example.

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]i see it as pretty pathetic. You petition for a game, then when you get it - you petition the DD method. I'm not sure why certain gamers believe that Steam is the only thing out there. They are not a first party, they are simply a (very good) distribution service. I've used GFWL and had no issues, or none that I haven't encountered with Steam (which is far from perfect as good as it is)....

GFWL is not a DD service as so much a security system that is unneeded.. Not to mention its region locked meaning that if you don't happen to live in a certain select few countries, your forced to pirate it.. Than there is the mountain of technical issues that people have had with it..

Really? I see nothing wrong with bringing your feelings on the subject to the attention of the developers. People don't like GFWL and are entitled to inform the devs and/or just not purchase the product.

I don't agree with pirating the game just because it is on a service you don't like.

GfWL games are only sold in countries where the service is available. Any problems with imported copies are the responsibility of the importer, not the publisher or Microsoft, the same as when you buy a foreign-region movie or console game.

Additionally, most games support using an offline profile (with or without online authentication) which allows using all offline functionality in an any country (whether that country is supported or not).

For people who simply CANNOT play the game, I can see pirating it. But for those annoyed with GFWL? Come on people, the only big issue with PC Gamers is we seem to so easily justify piracy. The game will come out, and some guy will make an "XLIVE WRAPPER" that will disable GFWL on retail/legitimate version within the first month.

i'd laugh if later down the line they announce they are going to integrate the PC version with the 360 version in terms of the clue system and all that.

Could happen /strokes beard.Might be why they opted for GFWL.

I posted stuff that I'm not allowed to post.. like 2 weeks ago. And I missed you too :(

It's been happening a lot lately. Bruno got suspended too. I thought it was borderline impossible under the new ToU And awww

Well he did get rather rabid in his insults and his very first post in the thread features completely unobscured profanity.

Or are we allowed to write **** now? At least I'm not.

Edit: I see Waltefmoney is'nt either.

I can't believe people are getting up in arms about people pirating games that are otherwise unplayable in their respective countries. It might be illegal, but it's a victimless crime. If anything, it benefits the developer because people who would otherwise have no opportunity to play their game get the chance. If they like the game, they might buy a game from that developer in the future, provided the developer actually finds a publisher who is interested in selling their game to everyone.

How so? They can't buy the game, so it is physically impossible to support the developer financially. They are only getting a digital copy, so they don't cost the developer a single cent.

360 fanboys should have tried to stop microsoft from raising the price for XBL,but instead they just accepted it. Microsoft didn't even have the guts to give a reason

MS knows its customer's just see it as "only $10 more dollars" and "everyone else will do it" so they don't even need to give a reason. There was that thread a few days ago claiming that MS will further monetize XBL, which is probably another price hike. They're just increasing it at a slow rate so that people don't get as mad. If they just bumped it to $100 people would be mad, but if they raise it by $5-10 increments, some people may not even notice

Yes. We are going to keep hearing "That price hike isn't even $1 per month."

Exactly, unlike PC gamers, Xbox 360 gamers are giving their money away for free. :|

PC gamers are generally some of the most informed consumers, and the most vocal gamers. If a game is lacking in quality, PC gamers will find out, and it WILL fail surely and rapidly. On console the hype itself may carry a bad game into some players' collections and later onto second-hand market. Unlike PC gamers, too many console gamers are too complacent. They willingly accept all the DLCs and other crap the major powers give them, and the large majority is incapable of raising a voice. This is why there will still be a lot of console gamers even if all console games require online codes, or become fully digital. Console games need to learn to say "No", and tell the developers when things simply aren't good enough. If you don't tell the developers about quality, then in effect you don't care about quality.
