For all you Final Fantasy XIII-2 haters

Good article I read, just being someones opinion about why Final Fantasy XIII-2 isn't really all that bad of a idea. The writer also shares some faults with Final Fantasy XIII which I believe to be some of the major ones for me imo. Translation and voice acting, but I would extend that farther to target audiences and rating.

I really enjoyed FFXIII, despite a few faults here & there. Looking forward to FFXIII-2.

That aside, good to see some people looking alittle forward to the game

They need to massively overhaul the game structure to make me at all interested.. I mean I like Lightning .. Sure she was just a female cloud lol but w/e.. So the idea of a sequel doesn't bother me.. Just cause the first game sucked doesn't mean the sequel cant be awesome.

Here is hoping the reception of FFXIII and FFXIV has shaken the heads at SE together so we can start to see some games that we can consider classics coming from the company again. I have hopes for FFXIII-2 but probably won't get it day 1.

Im also looking forward to it. FF13 has many flaws but i found the overall game enjoyable. I feel the universe of FF13 can be one of the more memorable ones with some work and it seems like they have learned from their mistakes so i have some faith.

Its just vs seems so much better.

Better than Snow or Hope. Yeesh.

But I'm looking forward to 13-2 as well, haters gonna hate.

I personally disliked FFXIII, but I do have some small hope that FFXIII-2 will be decent. (I hope Snow and Hope aren't in the sequel :P )

I don't care about linearity, I'll still buy it if it's just XIII with another story and setting... but I hope they can bring 4 character battles back :D and slow down the battle system abit, I liked it a bit more when I could pick my attacks without worrying about the enemy attacking me in an instant :P

Vanille is the 2nd worst character next to Snow:?


Anyway, I didn't enjoy FF13 at all really, but I'm still interested in seeing what changes SE can do to improve the sequel. I saw a lot of potential in the game.

Why does everyone hate Snow so much? Besides the cheesy lines here and there he's a pretty cool character whose more charismatic than the majority of main FF characters >.>

Snow just got kind of annoying with all the cheesy lines and I play a tons of cheesy games. I don't understand the Hope hate, and no one has never gave a reason why they hated him, even though I know some of my own, but none that would make me wish he was out of the sequel. I think if I played through FF13 again, I probably wouldn't mind Snow that much to be honest.

I don't have any high hopes for the game. If the game is good then so be it. My expectations won't be high again for a company that has recently had such a tragic fall from grace.

I'm hoping, & expecting, all the characters make a prominent return. I didn't dislike Hope, though before his attitude change he was a bit whiny & dorky in appearance. After his change he was still dorky in appearance.

Snowe is such an exaggeration, I really can't stand him.

As for FFXIII-2, the game has the potential to be good. But Toriyama is still directing. I don't really have any faith in him.

Snow was awesome and I didn't notice Vanille being annoying

For all the people who thought Sazh was the "comic relief" of the game, I would agree to an extent. But moreso I would say Vanille was just meant to be silly. She's more or less exactly what Selphie would be like if she were voiced. Vanille is a uniquely Japanese archetype. Sometimes these things just don't translate or at least aren't recognized by other cultures. Like Squall from FFVIII.

I liked FF13 a lot, but I really regret preordering it and paying full price.

I just felt it wasn't worth the $60 I paid.

Despite my problems with it, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy XIII. I'm looking forward to it because I think Square is going to learn from their mistakes and deliver something to be proud of, or I could be setting my expectations high for it to be even more disappointing than the first one.

yeah, you're propably right. it's just that i'm so desperately waiting for Versus-news, that i'm ignoring the other titles. if it's not as linear as XIII, i'm propably getting it.

First thing they should probably do is stop using names like snow and hope :s . Also stop using characters like vanille totally, those are just annoying to most outside of japan.

Edit: The goddess Etro is also a link within Final Fantasy Versus XIII (Painting) and Final Fantasy XIII-2 as well. Just got more interesting.:o

The story/ dialogue and characters were crap, too too linear, music was meh and gamplay had its moments. Final fantasy xiii-2 will dissapoint it will be in the same vein as FF X-2, I am not interested , I wish they would devote more time to versus that actually looks very promising.

I want to try FF XIII out sometime (I only am going by what I hear) to see for myself what all the hate is about, and if I will like it or not. I have heard some very dissapointing things about it, but I hope XIII-2 can fix those things.

This is the first time i would actually see a sequel tittle in a sequel. I mean Final Fantasy 13-2,i dont get it. Cant they just make it Final Fantasy 14,why 13-2 lol

Is there a problem with it being Japanese? I for one enjoy the designs in Japanese games because they aren't boring. The minute they start adding bald space marines characters that want big guns, make bro sexual inuedos to each other, and finally just blow up stuff, is the day I don't call it a S-E game.

Translation is something tricky as well. If it was easy, you'd get a broken story like Xenogears. You can't simply write a story, scenarios, and dialogue and have it translate directly into english and also have the right right target audience interpret it. Simple as that. You can't also blame one side for crappy translation, its not like they are doing it themselves. The only game this gen I think did a "decent" job translating was like you said LO, but only after Sakaguchi would only have a professor from harvard translate the dream sequences and such that it was just "decent".

Seriously here folks, we want to jump on JRPGs for cliches, yet everyother genre has cliches far worst. "Saving the world"-check, "Lets team up and blow stuff up" -check, "Get the girl" - check, "blow stuff up" -check. Did I mention "blow stuff up"

I'd like to actually see how a western game is actually translated in the East. Must be easy since there is probably even far worse "one liners" and less interested plots
