I didn't used to play PC....and boy I regret it.

I think what kept me from playing PC was the hefty initial price tag to build a PC. Then I paid 600 for a PS3 and figured "Hey...I can built a freaking bomb with that kind of money." And I did and I am glad I did.

You'll find out that money and lack of knowledge (about pc's) in the most cases are the only thing that keep people from becoming pc gamers.

Because the majority of my friends have Xbox 360's and play on live with them. I would rather play with my friends than play by myself.

Honestly, if all of my friends suddenly moved to PC, that would be awesome. IMO, its totally worth the cost.

Spending 600+ bucks to build one, buy a good monitor, gaming mouse, and gaming keyboard. I don't have any of that stuff. Playing video games with my face 6 inches from the screen. A keyboard. Hate it for gaming, it's ridiculously uncomfortable for me. Not being able to play on a TV without trying to hook it up, but then I have to unhook it if I want to use it for browsing, not being able to play on a couch, not being able to play locally, and online with real life friends.

This, and it can also get confusing to know which parts to buy and install them.. it can also get kind of pricey..its totally worth it in the long run though because the games are priced MUCH better

I'd need to spend a hell lot of cash to buy a PC capable of doing the same things the PS3 does and with the same quality... plus, the PS3 doesn't give so much headaches with virus, spam, etc. I assume we have two options: Buy the PS3 (a complete package) or buy part by part for the PC (graphic board, sound board and surround sound system, processor, HD and RAMmemory, plus screen, keyboard and mouse if you want complete experience - like those made by Logitech, etc.) While the PS3 comes with Cell Processor (I guess it runs @3.12GHz aprox.), Blu-ray player, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, +-160GB HD (can be upgraded), etc. all in that medium/small-size, 3Kg black thing.

Alright, a PC does more things then the PS3, but I think that if you have a PC that at least works without many problems, the PS3 is the best option. That's what I did... instead of upgrading the PC and spending more then 1500 bucks, I've spent only 1000 with the PS3. PS3 for games, PC for everything else :D

Note: I ain't against PC gamers... that's just my way of thinking.

04dcarraher

No you dont need to spend alot of money to do what consoles can do. The PS3 has only a Geforce 7800 gpu, which you buy a 9800GT which 3x better at least, $120. Next 4gb of DDR 3 $100 vs PS3's 256mb, quad core cpu made in 2009 vs PS3 cell 2004 , quad core walks all over it worth $100 motherboard $100 at best case psu, bluray drive, 1tb $300 at best. So right there a Pc $600 thats 3x faster then a PS3. Plus you can use TV speakers and the mouse and keyboard yours using now. These "O I need a +1K Pc just to match console" needs to stop because even a 1K Pc back in 2006 whooped the consoles easily.

The PS3's Cell Processor has 8 cores @ 3.12GHz, 7 for games, 1 for OS."only a Geforce 7800 GPU"? No way, it uses a RSX.

STI's CELL(PS3 version) has 1X PPE (PowerPC/POWER ISA) and 7X SPE . One of the 7 SPEs are reserve for OS functions. RSX has ROP count similar to Geforce 7600/ 7700, while it has vertex/pixel shader pipeline count and design similar to G70/"Geforce 7800 GPU".

RSX doesn't use G80/Geforce 8800 xxx architecture. As for stream processing....

I have a PS2 that still runs great, but I'm an avid PC gamer.

I didn't buy a PS3, because the graphics chip was the same as the one in my PC at the time, a GeForce 7800 GTX. My current PC has a GT 230, and I couldn't see plugging-in a 7800 GTX - I would lose DX 10 & 11, Cuda, Phys-X recognition, and so on.

The 360 uses the foundation for the Radeon HD 2000 series, so I don't see a need to buy that either, as ATI isn't far away from developing the 6000 cards.

I play some games on PC: sam and Max, plants vs zombies, TF2, a few others

But I prefer the hastle free console environment (No installations or PC specs to worry about) I prefer gaming on a joypad, and just very few PC exclusives really interest me ( I generally don't like RTS, and most of the PC exclusive shooter don't interest me either).

Can I tell you why I care? Oh I'm just joking, everyone loves to hear me complain! It's what I'm pretty much known for! :D Because consolites are playing dumbed down PC FPSes to the point they are taking them over! FPSes belong on the PC and they are better on the PC! Note: People who play console genres on consoles are console games. People who play PC genres on consoles are consolites.

I've always been a console gamer. I don't want to pay a whole heap of money to get a top PC and also have to upgrade it every couple of years, so I can continue to play the most recent games. Also I don't want to pay that much just to get a slight improvement in graphics. And I don't like using keyboard and mouse. There are some games I want to play on it but like I said I'm not spending the money. I love console gaming.

Plus I find PC gamers annoying how they constantly attack consoles, I wish they would just enjoy their PC while console gamers enjoy their consoles. So that has put me off of playing on PC.

I'm no expert but seeing the comparisons I've seen there's not that big of a difference and I'm more than happy with the graphics of the consoles. Like I said I don't think it's worth it. Plus PC gamers seem to look down on console gamers and I don't like that, it's completely unnecessary.

Only because a lot of them love crap games like MW2, although a few PC gamers are guilty of this also, so it's not really justifiable.

Who cares what games they like. Alot of PC gamers attack the consoles over their graphics but to me they look great. Why do they need to do this? if people like PC gaming better, fine...If people like console gaming better, fine. We're all gamers.

My Main machine is a Mac (dont hurt me) however i do play Red alert 3 on it, i also have a windows 7 machine for storage and um blu-ray keeping.

But my main reasons are,

1) My missus doesnt like any extra boxes, she complains already about the 360/Ps3 (funny she seems to say nothing about the Wii because she bought it) so i cant play it on the Big screen

2) I like picking up my controller pressing a button and booting into my game.

3) Online is one system (not everyone uses steam)

Although when Steam comes out on Mac i may give PC gaming more of a shot

If anything it's probably that consoles are more convenient. I haven't played PC since DOTA like a year ago. My PC is pretty much an HTPC atm. Still awaiting SC2 and Civ V pretty eagerly, though.

Also I don't want to pay that much just to get a slight improvement in graphics. And I don't like using keyboard and mouse. There are some games I want to play on it but like I said I'm not spending the money. I love console gaming.

Plus I find PC gamers annoying how they constantly attack consoles, so that has put me off of playing on PC.

Slight improvement in graphics? That's a laugh.

They both look good to me, I can't really tell the difference.I'm more than happy with both of them. It would be easier to compare two of the same screenshots though.

I'm no expert but seeing the comparisons I've seen there's not that big of a difference and I'm more than happy with the graphics of the consoles. Like I said I don't think it's worth it. Plus PC gamers seem to look down on console gamers and I don't like that, it's completely unnecessary.

Screenshots will never show a big difference. I ran the 360 and PC version side by side, and honestly the console version lokks and plays like garbage.

i remember playing mw2 on the free weekend, then on my friends 360 last Saturday, there was a very noticeable difference i could tell even from my limited play time, but you would never see it from screenshots. Also it ran at lower framerate than my humble computer also.

The PC version does look better. Though to me it only looks slightly so. The 360 version looks really good aswell, I would rather stick with my 360 than pay for a top PC just for that difference.

only the initial cost is more and is easily made up through cheaper games, massive steam sales, and free superior online. and the constant upgrade thing is a myth, my pc in my sig cost over $100 less than a ps3 in 208 and can still produce easily superior graphics to anything a console can do.

Why not? I'm just saying PC gamers make out like the consoles are crap and don't come anywhere near to producing games as good as the PC but the consoles have plenty of awesome lookinggames and I'm happy (as I'm sure all the other console gamers are) with what the consoles are producing. The PC versions may look better but come on the console ones look exellent aswell.

Also to be able to run newgames on a PC, I assume you would need quite an expensive one and I'm not going to put all that money out when I'm completely happy with my consoles and Idon't have to worry about if my PC is capable of handling the game.

Too bad you're going to miss out on a ton of awesome games with that kind of mentality.

But the initial cost is alot more and then what about the graphics card? I mean if you want to run it at thehigh end you would need to upgrade every couple years wouldn't you?

I was looking up the requirements for some PC games like Napoleon: Total War and it would require me to buy a pretty expensive PC to be able to play it. If I did buy a PC for gaming it would be only for the exclusives like Napoleon (I really want to play that) I would still play everything else on my consoles.

I have no problem with it. I still love playing the games on the consoles. I don't care what people play their games on and if you think the console versions are crap then fine (though I disagree). It's still no reason for PC gamers to constantly put down consoles. I mean just play it on whatever you want and enjoy it.
