[QUOTE="way2funny"]You do realize that GDDR5 is based on DDR3 but specifically designed for GPU workloads. If GDDR5 was amazing for CPUs we would have been using it a long time ago.

This as well.Â
Here are couple of clarifications.
1. Unified is good, thats the thing that gimped the ps3.
2. 8gb of ram is good, the reason hermits say that more ram doesnt matter, is, because ram is only as useful as much as you use it. If you need more and dont have more, that will gimp preformance. Its a one direction street. More ram than you will use will not increase preformance. Less ram than you need will gimp preformance.
3. The choice to go for GDDR5 for everything is probably good. It may gimp the CPU preformance, but as we know the GPU is generally the bottleneck, and GDDR5 will help the GPU calculations. We dont know how much it will gimp the CPU, but probably not really that much. People are just overthinking it.
4. The ps4 is not better than a mid-high end PC. These specs are Directly comparable to a PC. Difference is devs can write software that interacts with the metal, so there is less overhead. But in terms of RAW preformance, ps4 cannot compare. Doesnt mean it wont be able to produce good visuals. Its honestly the modest yet respectful upgrade consolites need. But no, the ps4 is not better in terms of power in terms of power.
I stick with a PC, I acknowledge the ps4 isn't nearly as powerful, but however theres no denying that sony made some smart hardware choices for the ps4.
