FFS, why do people take rumours as facts?
And also, Forza 2 is NOT a shallow pathetic joke of a sim either

[QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="X_CAPCOM_X"]Are people going to be changing discs to play online? I don't get it. How can there be a multi-disc racing game?BioShockOwnz
It's not that hard to understand. Half the content on one disc and the other half on the other disc. I'm amazed some fanboys are actually so delusional to think or say that they'll have to switch discs in the middle of a race. It's truly gotten to pathetic times on the damage control front.
Good job at making that all up. I'm curious too has how a racing game will be 2 discs.
Good job on missing out on those posts. It's been said, fact. I have enough weight here and enough people know I don't make up BS, so yes, it's been said.
Onto the 2 disc part. It was already said by the PGR team that they had issues with PGR4. Welcome to the world of HD, which fills a lot more disc space.

Yeah, you have enough weight here that I avoid your comments 80% of the time. It gets hard since you change you icon so frequently, but your blabbering mouth gives you away everytime.

WTF are people bringing in this changing disks between a race BS and calling it complete fanboyisim when nobody except one guy said that.:|
Keep to the topic and dont damage control.Nobody is saying that you will have to change a disc in between a race.
And you think the devs are genoius that will devise a way to make a racing game feel good with multiple disks?Hmm if there was a way then PGR4 would have it.
Spybot_9
Dude, use your imagination. It will be SP on one disk and MP/Paint/Customization on the other.

Man, I'm like the most ignorant about video game design and yet even I know how they could do this.
Campaign files take up a significant amount of disc space. Pre-rendered CG as used in JRPGs are the most obvious examples of this. Sound files, pre-rendered cutscenes using the game engine etc take a up a lot of data. Car models, world textures, and ultimately tracks can be put onto discs very easily.
So basically, single player will get one disc. It could be an epic single player campaign on the level of V8 Supercars/TOCA Race driver or the NFS games.
Multiplayer, which requires none of those one-off data files can be on the other disc.

It a racing sim, like Gran Tourismo, there is no campaign like any of the titles you mention, no story, just a racing carrer mode
If they were smart, and considering, if the Rumor is true, we will have two great racing sim games out before Sony really has one full one, (that Gran Tourismo $40 demo don't count)
It will be seperated EXACTLY like Gran Tourismo 2, SIngle player Carrer on one disk, andf multiplayer, online and arcade on the other
I think its funny how cows laugh at Disk swapping, yet they don't mind being forced to install 5gigs for each game they play
Disk Swapping>>>>>>5 gigabyte Installations. I'll tell you why.
Disk swapping only happens every 10 hours or so. (You must be extremely lazy if you are bothered by this)
Installations are coming with nearly every PS3 game that's coming out.
They are 5 gigs. 5 GIGABYTES!!!
Every PS3 owner with a 20 gig hard drive will feel the pain. (Soon 60gig HDD will also feel it.)
You have no choice. You are forced to Install.

But there are advantages like better sound with the BD format also. Nothing is 100% positive advantages.
But this is nothing to cry about and I seriously doubt anyone thinks you'll be switching discs mid-race.
And everyone sure complained when GT2 was on two discs.foxhound_fox
why complain?? back in the ps1 days they had no other option but to put it on 2 disks
hdd were unheard of on a console back then
And DVDs weren't readily available back in the ps1 days so really they had no choice
Microsoft on the other had could have easily prevented this by simply having a hdd on every console

GTAIV is only 3gb ?
also disk swapping is a pain imo id rather wait 10 minutes at the start and thats it
what if 360 games start coming with the single player on one disk and the multiplayer on the other? You get a new game your about half way through then you want to try some multiplayer .... swap disk after that you want to continue with the story .... swap disk then while playing you get a game invite ..... swap disk
see where im going with this ? installs are a once off 10 minute thing where as multiple disks will always be a pain

Ok. Lets say you bought a new game (KZ2 or something) and you want to play it. BUT WAIT!!! You only have 2 gigs of HDD space left and the Installation is 4 gigs. You don't want to delete any other game Installations because you love them all and maybe you want to go back to them later. Whoops!! So much for Blu-Ray

So now your telling me Installations are a good thing? Yeah? How? What major benefits do they have ? Make the loading time 2 seconds less? Make the the FPS a couple frames more?
They don't make the game better ok? I have downloaded halo 3 maps that were 100mb each. These Installations are a couple of gigs. In what ways do those couple of gigs make the game a lot better?
Can you answer me that?

Using a HDD enables date to be streamed much much faster along with aiding loading times it also keeps pop ins to a minimumeg, did you take of in a helicopter in gta on the 360 version ?? entire road blocks, buildings, roads just popin these problems are minimize thanks to the HDD in the ps3 hence why it does not suffer from this problem as badly as the 360 does

But I'm sure you understand what I mean, if you do not understand my comment then thats ok.
This is 2008 dude.[QUOTE="Rougehunter"]Didn't gran turismo 2 on the first PS come on 2 disk:?Spybot_9
Sorry but a racing game on 2 disc is just failure and if they dont then it's still gonna be failure cuz they wont have enough features then.Good job MS keeping the 360 casual and not allowing mandatory installs.
Damagae control.
What a hypocrite, it happened to Sony, it's not a issue, but oh noez, 360 having two discs will kill you!
It's been brought up many times. I'm still amazed that some people can't change a disc. It was alright before, but now it's a hassle. How lazy have some become that they can't get off the couch for a second and switch out a disc? The damage control is through the roof on this one.
BioShockOwnz
Well, for me, the act of changing a disk is not the problem. My problem comes in when one of the disks gets scratched and doesn't want to play. Now you are screwed. It happened to me with Skies of Arcadia way back when, and I was not happy at all. You put in all that work and can't continue cause the next disk is messed up. This is the advantage of having everything fit on one disk. Also, Blurays are hard to scratch, and even if they are scratched, they still play fine.
[QUOTE="crunchUK"]also INSTALLATIONS welcome to PC with all the good bits taken out cows.
