He said there was no 1080p/60fps racer on on PS4 which was a factually wrong statement. There is a 1080p/60fps racer on PS4 and it looks and runs beautifully. Don't hate because your WeakBox can't run it properly. You lems are always moving goal posts every time you're exposed.

@asylumni: The idea that MGS5, The Witcher 3, Forza Horizon 2, Mario Maker, Bloodborne had. A hype thread before any reviews were out. Not the thread posted after reviews had already hit. Its how its usually been done and although nothing is perfect, its better than this.

Game is a no buy for me. But one of the fun things about coming here was always the Hype/Flop game. It seems its become open to anybody's interpretation which makes it like any other thread. Opinion vs Opinion.

I'm too busy playing the 10/10 GOTY candidtate MGSV in 1080p/60fps to give a crap about an 8/10 has-been racer like Flopza 6 but thanks for hoping for the best with GT7 :D.

It's not like this is a new game by a new studio. This is the 6th iteration of one of MS's main franchises and has been talked about plenty. Shall we count the threads?

That's just in the past 7 months (7 of them were actually within the last 3 months) and only counting those with new information, not the question threads. So there's clearly hype and it's clearly being talked about, there's just no official hype thread. There really should be a way to determine if it achieved the rating comparable to the hype. This isn't Rocket League.

My point is, my saying I hope/think a game will be amazing doesn't equal me calling out AAA/AAAA. That's why there were threads for the aforementioned games. This one didn't have one, so everything is open to interpretation, which takes the fun out of the whole Hypr/Flop game.

In rules by Stevo he states a Hype thread is usually used although (rarely) does a consensus of the board get used. He then links to Ninja Hippo's definition in which He states there is no such thing as an Official hype thread. But that goes against how many mod approved by sticky OFFICIAL hype threads in years gone by? Ninja then finishes by saying the amount to which a game is hyped will always be debatable/open to interpretation.

I have said as much to you. I have also merely expressed my preference to a more concrete measurement that has often been used. You wish to interpret the hype as AAA I am assuming? I prefer to go by what I have read said to me for 9 years. No hype thread, no Flop.

I hear 'ya, and I agree, a hype thread would be best. What I most want is an accurate judgement of hype (which, yes, at this moment appears to be AAA). I'm also being as open as I reasonably can citing the names and post number in case there's a question of my interpretation. And while this is less than ideal, I think the alternative is worse.

This isn't a new series or new studio, it's one of the three main pillars of Xbox (and the only one that hasn't changed studios). I think if this is allowed to be immune from the risk of flopping, then it sets a bad precedence. Why would anyone make a hype thread if they could just hype it up for a year then not make one and not have to worry about it flopping? While post interpretation may take the fun out of the game, I think a strict adherence to "no hype thread = no flop" could kill the game.

People really need to stop saying "1080p/60fps" as if it implies the game actually operates at 60 FPS on games it doesn't, that's a 60 FPS cap, not the average framerate of the game, which is likely in the high 40's to low 50's...

The PlayStation 4 still does not have a 1080p racer that operates at 60 FPS.

No its not a new studio nor new series. How ever it is a series that hasn't been AAA level on Metacritic for a while, and one faction has been touting that to the lems for a while. With that said, I wasn't expecting this to be AAA. Racing is a sport and MS is now treating it as such pushing something with Forza in its title out yearly. Nothing can stay AAA forever with that in mind.

The game is killed imo, when it is an interpretation game. Imagine at game 1 of the World Series no Umps show up, so players start saying, well today there are NO walks, over the bases is not fair ball, and no stealing bases. Its fucking stupid. Concrete scoring and rules, although not impervious to attempts at manipulation is the best way of playing this game imo.

Dipping to the 40s is pretty normal in most console games during high stress situations. As long as the game doesn't stay there most of the time it's still 1080p/60fps.

Is the game even out yet? Because other than this thread, its as if this game was forgotten the same hour it was released. This is what happens when a new game with "Forza" in its title is being released every year.

Codemasters is a larger innovator in the genre, however Forza does what they do better.

Exactly, I could set a 60 FPS cap or any cap for that matter on any one of my PC games, but I will always say what the average is because that is a the only rational indicator of overall performance.

If my game is averaging 53 FPS at 1440p, clearly it's hitting the cap, but in general it operates at a lower threshold. I'm not going to say it's a 60 FPS game even if I have the cap placed there, I'd tell you it runs at 53 FPS...
