I wonder what we would all be thinking if Poly was as open about GT5 as Turn10 is about Forza 3... Would there be a clear front runner for console racing games?!musicalmacThere are no "front runners" in SW. ;)

As I said not the internal damage. I said cosmetics, not physics. The Gt5 cosmetics look better it's unfortunate and ridiculous that it's only on 170 cars though.
[QUOTE="navyguy21"]Did you watch the video? The damage was CLEARLY set on cosmetic.............meaning the car will only sustain scratches and scrapes. Forza 3 does have full simulation damage like in GT5 where bumpers fly off, windows break, and it can actually effect your driving. This was also in Forza 2. Why dont you try WATCHING the video so you dont embarass yourself further II-FBIsniper-IITo be fair, cosmetic damage means only that, the damage will be limited to cosmetics. Changing the settings won't make more things fly off, they'll just make the damage affect performance. From what I've seen, GT5's cosmetic damage is much more notable than Forza 3's. Ok cool, thanks for the correction :D

...Not quite. If I could just link to Kotaku. And I quote-
[QUOTE="Kotaku"]Fans excited about the possibility of car damage finally coming to the Gran Turismo series should check that excitement for now, at least until we see something more substantial. The core gameplay felt solid, just as solid as any of Polyphony's previous driving sim efforts. But it also felt familiar. With Tokyo Game Show just around the corner, we're hoping Polyphony has more to show us than a couple doors flopping about.
So... Yeah.

I really don't get PD sometimes. Why bother if only 170 of 1000 cars will feature it?
ummmmmmm come again?really, last time i checked, Forza was in direct competition with Gran Turismoif you have watched the video and payed attention. he was playing it on casual setting, which means he had assists on, or in other words all real sim settings are turned off or partially turned off.[QUOTE="ZoomZoom2490"][QUOTE="aero250"] It's not on sim.blazer224

The sad part is, a couple of doors flopping about is more than Forza 3's cosmetic damage currently allows and probably the limit car manufacturers are going to set.everyone is so worked up over GT's limited damage when there are more serious flaws... like the A.I. ohhh the A.I.2scoopsofemptyI missed that flaw. Also, mods, what up with the 30 second forum maintence?

Cars don't bounce off the walls in Forza 3. And Forza 2 had fenders that fell off.aero250

I completely agree and I also agree about the guy mentioning the AI. Both games have their flaws though... Personally I prefer GT5's lighting and visuals, Forza 3's internal damage, Gt5's cockpit view, Forza 3 car paint customization and body mods, GT5 costmetic damage and Forzas online car auction community. If a game came out that fofered these features I'd be a very happy camper.

agreed.Sorry, I clicked the wrong button. :o
I'm gonna watch them now. Do they show damage? I haven't seen any Forza 3 damage videos yet...The-Magus-DCosmetic damage is on. Don't expect anything more than Forza 2's.
[QUOTE="Liquid_DC"]y is it so close? maybe i have been looking at to many gt5 vids, but this just looks wrong, all wrong I drive and that view is bang on.[QUOTE="aero250"]

*sharp breath intake* You did that! Mods have been given the god-given power of closing down the forums?! I wanna be a mod![QUOTE="The-Magus-D"]I'm gonna watch them now. Do they show damage? The videos aren't working for me right now and I wanna watch them. It sounds like Gran Turismo will have more detailed cosmetic damage. But the mechanical damage is much more important. They should go all out at TGS with more details.

Why did everyone stop talking in this topic? I think the best new thing about Forza is how they help you if youre a noob. It's good for a big audience. I like the rewind feature even if it isnt realistic.The-Magus-DYeh turn 10 made a good move with the rewind feature and you have the breaking assist for really bad drivers.

I like the rewind feature even if it isnt realistic.The-Magus-DI think some of the trainign features are great also. Helps newbies to the racing games enter and not feel at a complete loss. Even arcade racers are complex now so this is great for a sim racer. Plus once the person gets better they can slowly shed the training helpers.
What is up with the GT5 mirror? It looks like it has Atari 2600 graphics in it. Also that looks like the person would be sitting to far back.[QUOTE="CanYouDiglt"]

That's a lie. The screen is from a preview build of Prologue. The first time they demoed it, it did look like that. Then they vastly improved itIts Forza if i've ever seen it, and rewind is still as bad of a game mechanic in a racing sim as i've ever seen(actually its still a toss up between that and auto-brake/drive). Season mode seems interesting, its funny how people complain about GT physics and damage after seeing that video. The driving was just horrible, he just smashed other cars out the way to gain position then rewinded when he caught himself in an accident. Well thats enough GT talk, so far the game looks solid, hopefully the rest of the tracks are more inspired and the 200+ events don't turn into chores. Adrian_Cloud
It's on casual thats why he smashed other cars out the way.

that guys arms remind me of the character in fantastic 4you do know that it was on casual setting right? what does that have to do with his poor driving? Is that really an excuse for smashing cars to gain pole position, because if this is how forza players win their games then, i could see why ms is focused on making this game more of a casual experience.[QUOTE="Adrian_Cloud"]Its Forza if i've ever seen it, and rewind is still as bad of a game mechanic in a racing sim as i've ever seen(actually its still a toss up between that and auto-brake/drive). rewind feature = arcade gaming = yuck
yea yea you can turn it off. but i don't think a 'simulation game' should have one. lol. where's the simulation in that?
if GT5 will have something like this or even close to this i would explode. seriously.
arcade mode must be different from sim mode in the game.

I don't like the rewind feature but I'm not going to hold it against them - these sort of games are intimidating to most players and the larger an audience they can appeal to, the better. Besides, don't use (or disable) the rewind feature, turn off the assists, and you'll be making twice as much money as people who use those handicaps in the career mode. It's a good balance.DJ_Laeexactly. i dont like the rewind feature either but this does not mean its a bad mechanic going towards those that think it is. i have a little nephew who is interested in playing this, most likely on casual settings.
