I don't think so. I think Hate is a strong word, reserved for criminals that attack my family, or perhaps even Evil Historical figures like Stalin, Hitler etc... but I can't speak for everyone. It's a gaming forum, so there shouldn't be that level of animosity between gamers.

In fact, there should be an underlying bond between all of us, united by our passion in gaming, not hatred...but there are some crazy, hardcore emotional nerds to be found on the entire internet if we look hard enough.

That's why I put in the second sentence.

There is nothing wrong with the Union per se...but something's amiss, methinks.

I don't like Activision's CEO Bobby Kotick, and Activision is different with him in it, it's just not the same company it was years ago.

Also, I know he's not banned, but I miss many that have been mentioned in this thread, including Guch22, that guy was funny.

GlassGlassGlass was funny, and HDguy basic got people upset, same for YellowRose (got a man and had kids).

Good list. I know Hoff and Kev stop by once in a while. Would be nice if Cake came back too.

On the subject of GUFU, I could see why some people would dislike the union. The union is about making a community that are full of level headed gamers, to set up new friendships through game nights and other means. I'm pretty sure the union is supposed to be devoid of fanboys hence the "no fanboy is safe" tag. In theory that sounds really good.

There are a couple large problems though.

The recruitment process. Every once and a while I just go look out of curiosity, people just vote on wether or not people should be allowed in ( that I have have really no problems with) but the way it's done is sort of juvenile, most people say yes or no, no real discussion on why or why not a person should be allowed in or not.It just seem like if you get into a heated argument with one of the main GUFU members that your chance of getting in are erased.

I though the union was strict anti fanboy, but everybody can see that there are a couple of the worst fanboys in SW that belong to that union, not only that but they proudly wear the " no fanboy is safe tag" which I think is some pretty funny irony.

I heard about Red_Cloak but I wasn't browsing this board in 2004 and the first half of 2005. However, I do remember Ace_666 (at least I think I do but I don't want to say it :P).

BTW Does anyone remember Twinblade105? Has to be the one of the funniest SW's moments (way before PS John).

I remember that thread, I remember when the dev finally came in and owned him, and I remember Red Cloak before that in SW as well.

I'm sure that account became useless after that ownage, but I'm sure we still see Red Cloak today under a different name, just a guess.

But it goes far beyond that. Outright lies have been found in the IRC, which I suppose is unavoidable, but it's certainly not a real discussion. It's not like the prospects are brought into the IRC for a chat normally. It's all heresay and chatter, which is ultimately pointless.

6. Your topics can be deleted in GUFU by any officer.
7. It's hard to improve a union using a chatroom, and without the majority present on discussion.
8. If this were a thread within GUFU's walls, it would be deleted.

Allow me to elborate. Sometimes, when disccusing something in response to another user, he'd use a different colour for each of his points.

It's become somewhat common now, but back then, he was the only guy i'd seen to do that, and it made him stand out.

Why bother. Quality posting gets you banned while trolling 24/7 guarantees a long tenure on GS. It's amazing that subrosian is still not banned, his posts are of the highest quality. Maybe he's the exception.ThePRAssassin

He was banned for his long lists of trolling violations. He once said on his blog after receiving a ten-day suspension (and a "Final Warning" PM for trolling) that he decided to quit posting in System Wars because of the moderations he has been receiving and feared any more will ban him. Unfortunately, he did not keep his word and continued to post on that forum until the day he was banned.

Anyone remember justforlotr2004? I always thought he was very level-headed. He isn't banned, but he hasn't been around since June and I've only noticed now that he isn't here.
