What is so bad about the 360 other than the hardware issues? According to all the posts in this thread that's the only reason why it shouldn't be number 1.

I personaly think it's a great console, it has great games from way back when... like Castlevania SoTN and Sonic to great games now like COD4 and Halo 3. Not only that but every game for the 360 is online in some form, so I can talk to my friends no matter what they are doing. I can also download movies... etc etc etc.

(IMO) There is more good stuff going on with the 360 than bad, I can definetly see why some people would class it as the best system of all time.

The 360 is a great system but it still relatively young and doesn't compare to greats lke the PS 1 and the SNES. Tough its he best system this gen, its got a lot to prove and the RROD its hurting its chances. Still, this is thew console that got me into online console gaming and i am having fun with this consoles and it reminds me of the SNES of simple, no worry games.

SO here is the definative list:

10) Sega master system(startd sonic and contains a great variety of games and started sonic)

9) PS2(had the most AAA titles and the greatest variety of games)

8)Sega genesis(contains excellent titles and the best sonic games)

7)A2600(you wouldn't be playing halo, GOW or zelda if it wasn't for this system)

6)NES(saved gaming from disaster and made it a viable business again and it started mario, zelda and FF)

5) N64(one word: Rare)

4) The 360(best console this gen and has the best online and got alot of people into online gaming and has the biggest mascot after mario, the master chief)

3)the PS1(started 3D gaming and got me into console gaming permanantly and launched gaming into mainstream status and ot killed the arcades)

2)SNES(Set trends for gaming we still follow, and contains the best lineup of any system in existance)

AND the winner is........

PONG! Without this console there would be no game or console industry and it single handedly started a revoulution.

In what way whatsoever has the 360 and its games done anything to push the industry forward in a significant way? How can you compare it to the NES, the SNES, the PS1 and 2, the N64, the dreamcast etc? All it has are some multiplats and a few excellent but entirely forgettable exclusives.

Seriously, what exclusives does it have? Halo 3, Viva Pinata, Forza 2, Lost Odyssey, Dead Rising, DOA4. I must be missing something, because none of those games would even qualify for a top 100 list.

I wouldn't be surprised if free online becomes a thing of the past. Plus as someone said before on here, it isn't free, people still pay for it, just not the consumer in most places, though you can pay for a dedicated server yourself if you want and some people do.

Gamedaily seems to have no axe to grind or ass to kiss so and it's no coincidence they agree with Me ! :D

I think the title of best console should go to either the N64, ps2 or PS1 IMO.

I love my 360, and it has given me NO problems the past year I have had it, but it is nowhere close to the greatest of all time. And never will be.

I have closer games to my heart than that damn console. As far as I see it, PS2 is above it, along with at least SNES, NES, and PS1. Maybe you guys should play more games before you even call the 360 the greatest of all time.

But, it is an opinion. A very, very, idiotic opinion.

I think Gametrailer's top 10 console list was much better, and I pretty much agreed with it.
