games really change graphically on HDtvs? (i have a SD tv)

There will be a HUGE change. Anyone that says otherwise, is either blind, or has very, no, make that EXTREMELY poor sight. and I'm pretty sure people with that kind of vision could tell the difference.
Sd Tvs are at 640x480, HDTV is 1920x1080.

It's sort of amazing how much better games look in HD, makes everthing look a lot clearer and more crisp.
no not that much, when you change from sdtv to hdtv you really wont see big difference
sikanderahmed
Only if you have a really crappy HDTV.
The bump from 640x480 to 1280x720 is huge.

See, at this, I lol'd.
Yeah. I can hardly see what I'm playing when I look at those lower income people's tvs.

Yeah, my friend used to play on an old TV, I actually looked so close my nose was 4 inches away from touching the screen, I couldn't make out any of the sub titles. He had a nice 42" LCD 1080 P HDTV now. Everything looks sharp.
The difference is pretty huge, in some games more than others. Playing, say, Dead Rising in SD is like going back a generation.
HD is so much better, I can't go back to playing or watching anything else, other than HD. I've basically become an HD snob.

my hdtv is good, the menu's look alot better but the actual game doesnt really look that better, i remember uncharted looked awesome on sdtv, when i played it on hdtv it still looked good but i could see way too many jaggies

Maybe you were playing with composite input because a decent SDTV with component input looks really good for the 360.This is what I was gonna say, HOWEVER go play a game on an SDTV now and you will see a difference trust me. I used to play World at War loads, and then I was at a friends house and he put it in so we could play splitscreen and it looks really bad on his SDTV, even though I hadn't noticed much of a change when I first stepped up. I think the main reason is SDTV's are usually quite small so it's not such a noticeable step up to HD, but my friends tv is like 26 inches and it does look really grainy and dull on his tv.no not that much, when you change from sdtv to hdtv you really wont see big difference

If you care enough to look for a difference.OreoMilkshakeEven if you don't care to look for a difference at all. You are simply stuck with the HUGE difference smacking you in the face.

You can see those jaggies because it isn't extremely blurry, instead it's nice and sharp and you can see all the detail.
It's not like it increases poly count or texture resolution, it's only the screen resolution, but the difference is huge.
They look better but if you already have a decent SDTV with component input it wouldn't be much of a big deal.Jamex1987He could have the best SDTV on the market and there would still be a HUGE difference.

like I said menu's do look better and all but when playing the game difference isnt really that big, maybe if i played on sdtv now I would see big difference but when i switched from sdtv to hdtv the difference really wasnt that big

Then you have a crap HDTV. You saying you don't doesn't change the fact that you do. If the game.....ah forget it. If you wish to be blind and say there isn't a big difference, then who am I to correct you. You just keep on telling yourself there isn't really a difference. My brother just bought a Samsung 750 TOC, 46 inch LCD TV with 240 Hz to replace our 27 inch SD TV and YES there is a difference when playing games, I was playing WAW and had to lower the aim sensitivity (could be due to the 240 Hz refresh rate and the 2 ms response time), also I find I don't squint when trying to read text on the screen anymore, everything is clearer and crisper. I love it!!!!!!

The hdtv is connected through HDMI, why would I try to be blind and make up BS? i bought hdtv after listening to people like you who say HDTV is supa amazing and teh difference between hdtv and sdtv is like black and white tv and colour tv. seriously the difference is just not that big. and it deffo doesnt change games
When people are saying 1920x1080 is barely a noticeable leap from 640x480, humanity has gone down the drain.
The resolution jump will be huge. The change in image quality will take a big jump also.
HD is a very large improvement over SD.
Everything looks sharper and a little more crisp. It's a little easier to see small details in the game and also things such as text become easier to read. Other then that, there is no big difference. The graphics themselves don't get better when going from a SDTV to a HDTV, they're just clearer but nothing to get all twisted up about.
However it can be a double edged sword since any graphical flaws will be more apparent and visible. Not to mention the "free AA" that you get when playing with a STDV at 480i will be completely gone when going to a HDTV, so be prepared to notice some jaggies since most games don't have AA.
I used to think that the difference between SD and HD was miniscule at best...
And then I connected my 360 to an HDTV.
Now, I can hardly go back to playing games in SD. The difference is that big
I just picked up a 23 inch monitor to play my PS3 and 360 on. It make a big difference I SDT.V set is bigger than my monitor but I don't see myself going back to SD. Unless I'm using the SD TV to play my PS2.Yes,they do.Going back to SD just doesn't work.
Lto_thaG
I wouldn't get an HDTV. There might be a difference, but I honestly do not care enough about graphics for it to be worth my while. Current gen graphics on my relatively small CRT SDTV are absolutely fine for everything except Dead Rising (bastards), as far as I'm concerned.
Yes you will..no not that much, when you change from sdtv to hdtv you really wont see big difference
sikanderahmed
Yes. Yes they do change alot. Anybody who says they cant see a difference between graphics on an HD tv and an Sd tv need their eyes checked or are lying.
I just got a VGA-out cable for my 360 today. The difference is like night and day. Even on a 21" CRT monitor.

I don't care what you say. It is one of three things. Either your tv is screwed up or your eye sight is bad or you are flat out lieing. Either way there is a HUGE difference. I am not going to argue facts with you. They can more than hold their own without my help. And yes son, it does change games and a lot (unless you are talking Wii  ). My first day with my PS3 I used the cables that came with it and was kinda disappointed in what I was seeing. Then the next day I went out and bought a set of HDMI cable and guess what. It was as different as night and day. My jaw dropped when I loaded Uncharted with HDMI cables instead of the packaged cables. Please Log In to post.
