There's no excuse for this. The first Mercenaries was phenomenal and received a good score, 8.8 here in GS.

Okay so this game is a bit dissapointing, but your comment made me think.... how is this game worse than Kane & Lynch? Or even bad enough to get a 5. BTW I doubt Jeff was fired for being harsh, it's just not legal.

My nephew has been wanting this game for ages; I will play his version before I buy. Although let's face it, I played and enjoyed conflict desert storm back in the day so this wont be bad for me.

Yeah. Lately games I thought would 9-9.5 get's a ten (which used to be VERY rare) while playable average games get a score of 7 or lower.

What's up with GameSpot lately? First they give Too Human a 5.5 (it's no 5.5, a 7.5, sure, 5.5? Reaaaaaaaallly?) then they give Mercs 2 a 5.0 as though it's the buggiest game ever - meanwhile Two Worlds and Kung Fu Panda have better scores. Geesh.

Yeah, it's an opinion, but if the reviewers "opinions" are inconsistent and seemingly not based on any standard or reality, how are we supposed to make use of them? For example, if I give GTA IV a 5.0, and give Phantasy Star Universe a 10 - I'm doing you a huge disservice, and that's kind of what GS is doing by numerically suggesting a whole lot of crappy games are better than average "meat & potatoes" games.

I might just agree with you there. It's such a step down from BF2.

I talk to my friend about it; have 64 player matches with massive maps, lot's of team functions and whatnot. And in return he talks about console games. I say "yeah but, those games are never revamped, they are just dumbed down for consoles". He told me his philosophy is "the key to enjoying console versions is to avoid playing PC versions", to which we both agreed upon but I just had to think how much he was missing out, especially since he is in the "hardcore" demographic.
