GameSpot: PS4 and Xbone power difference closer than PS3 and 360

The PS4/XBone difference is similar to SNES/Genesis difference in power.  They both are in a similar ballpark, but games easily looked superior on the SNES. The same will be true for the PS4, especially 1st party exclusives.

On your basic spec sheet, the Xbox One and PS4 look very similar, but Mark Cerny heavily modified the AMD SPU such as adding another bus to the GPU, and increasing the compute command limit to 64. With the much more capable Asynchronous Compute Engine, the PS4 is more future-proof than the X1.

The new bus allows the GPU to bypass its own L1+L2 cache and use the system memory at a faster rate than a PCIe 3.0 slot in a PC.

I don't think very many people realize how much of an advantage the PS4 really has. 

so far this advantage only exists in theory, and im sure plenty of people said the same thing about the ps3.

cows way overhyping the graphics the ps4 can have. comparible to last gen, ps4 little more powerful, but difference is minimal. more gemes and better games from start to finish on the x1, and you get your temp taken by Kinect with IPTV and fantasy greatness all on x1. x1 definitely worth more, just how much? might have to do a 50 dollar price drop next year.

True but that mean that the xbox one will never ever reach 1.2TF.

As of now the xbox one has lower TF count,slower memory,lack a second CPU of background task,and the unit it self hogs more resources than the PS4,3GB of memory 2 CPU core and 10% of the GPU are offlimits to game developers.

No matter how much makeup MS throw over xbox games on E3 the difference will be show,once developers start to push both hardwares.

I meant 360 and PS3, not PS4 and X1. I have yet to play TLoU, but played the GoW3, Uncharted and KZ series, etc. I think they look as impressive as Halo 4 or Gears 3.

if power and graphics mattered to me, I'd game on a high end PC. Never understood console gamers caring about this so much, but not going with the most powerful option then.cainetao11

mildly better graphics certainly is something to consider, but the difference will likely be insignificant compared to the difference in other features/price. Im probably not going to get any console at launch and will wait to see how things like kinect 2.0/multitasking/hdmi in play out vs saving $100... thats the main thing im concerned about in in next gen consoles (and probably most other consumers). Whether or not the added features of the X1 can justify the price difference. Slightly better graphics, while nice, isnt something im particularly concerned about.
