They never even implemented an on-line pass to their games, they only have a highly popular franchise on their hands, and are making the most of it... fact of the matter is, CoD is incredibly accessible, at no point you need to jump through any hoops...

Calculate inflation in todays dollars and what do you get? ff7 costing 73 dollars. So, in fact, gaming is cheaper now. Its funny every developer or publisher that I read interviews on or speak on twitter in private hates use games.  Every single one.  All hate piracy too but that's a given. 

One developer I spoke with stated he fvcking hates used games but he and his company has to put on a face to the public that they are against DRM and all for the gamer as a PR move.
