All those Mario spinoffs. Except maybe Mario Kart.

Spyro and Crash... they just need to die.neo418I hate to have to agree with you. If, however in the unlikely circumstance that Naughty Dog & Insomniac took the games under their wings again, they may again become great :P
Madden, Halo, Need For Speed, NHL just to name a fewAgentA-Mi6They have only made 3 halo games and all of them are AAA there no sign of milkage in the halo brand either.
Mario, Zelda, Mario party, sonic and final fantasyn00bkid
Zelda? How dare you think that series should. You should be ashamed of yourself. Every Zelda game that comes out is Epic.
Mario Party should defiantly be stopped.
The Platforming Marios are awesome. But all the other stuff should go.
But still.... How dare you say Zelda.
halo franchise. How many times do you have to finish the fight? final fantasy franchise. Now that it went multiplat and square is releasing half-assed JRPGs ...this there even a point in making these games anymore? ReaperV7
haha, saying halo and you don't even mention MGS? didn't they say the fourth was the last one! but NO, now 5 is coming! It's easy to pick other games and bash them, but it takes a little more to make other people really care about what you say!
and you had to finish the fight once! i don't know what you're trying to say! do you mean halo reckon? an expansion pack cause they care for their fans, like what valve did with episode 1 and 2 and what rockstar does, and many more games!
Army Men... You won't believe this at first but, they are making A NEW ONE.KungfuKitten
Let me guess...Wii exclusive!!!

Yeah his Halo comment is pretty ridiculous. Then again alot of fanboys in this thread are calling out succesful titles for no reason. About MGS4, no IT WAS NEVER ANNOUNCED TO BE THE LAST MGS! Just the end of Solid Snakes story. Also Kojima said it would be the last one he directs, but he said that with MGS2, MGS3, and now MGS4, so who knows?[QUOTE="KungfuKitten"]Army Men... Duh, that's no guess. I could see a PC version, but definitely a Wii version. This is just for franchises that you feel really shouldn't be around any longer and have created enough crap games that the whole franchise should just be finished with.
My following top 2 are;
Tomb Raider: Main reason for this post, I just noticed that there was another Tomb Raider game released, this time for the Wii. Oh, and it's also crap. Honestly, has there even been a good Tomb Raider game after the first one? I highly doubt that, even the second Tomb Raider movie did terrible at the box office. NO ONE CARES FOR TOMB RAIDER!!! There truly is no reason for this franchise to exist any longer, the whole "3-D model with big boobs" extravanaganza has been over for a long time.
Sonic the Hedgehog: I really don't believe that Sega has it in them to make this franchise great again, either let someone develop the game (Sonic Dark Brotherhood was mediocre, though) or hope that Sega gets bought out and a better company takes a stab at Sonic.
What do you think of these 2? and which other franchises would you add to this as well?
kgb1234
I enjoyed Sonic and the secret rings on the Wii but one good Sonic game out of all the latest ones?
They should change the character in tombraider as Lara is getting a bit old. Maybe they should change it to a future setting, like raiding tombs in space or something.
I really do not get why people are naming Halo as a franchise which should die.
The first , Halo combat evolved , was one of the best shooteres ever
The second , Halo 2 , revolusionised console online gaming
The third, Halo 3 , is the bench mark for console online gaming, the most well rounded and competeive online game on any console. Has unique features as forge and theatre which should become standard for console FPS's
All 3 games are AAA, over 1,000,000 unique players log on to halo 3 every day about 14 months after release.
So why all the Hate?

Duh, that's no guess. I could see a PC version, but definitely a Wii version. Well, that's why they call it shovelware, cause it's shoveled to the lowest point.... Haha no just kidding. I actually like the Wii.Tony hawks without a doubt. What started off as a really cool, new skating game really lost its way. It became some kinda skating RPG at one point, and then it had the whole jackass element to it...I dunno - it just went weird.
Anything with sonic in it.
Mario is not doing quite as bad as sonic - SMG and Mario Kart on the wii were both cool.

Cause it's not on there console. Never mind FF2billion, MGS4 or any other silly exclusive (mostly ex-exclusives actually) that they had/have there good to pump out another 10 but 3 is the max for the 360.
Lets see...
Ratchet and Clank
Call of Duty or anyone who decides to make a WWII game ever again (I would say the only series that are decent WWII games is the Wolfenstein games)
Sims
Sonic
Guitar Hero
Need for Speed
Tony Hawk
Mario. Cough *pretty much every nintendo game* coughsmartcriminalway to contradict your avatar name
MGS
GTA
Halo
Gears of War
Call of Duty
Gran Turismo
anshul89
In other words... "lets get rid of all the decent franchises!"

Yes, because a franchise that consistently puts out AA-AAA games should stop making them, because apparently, widely recognized awards, unanimous praise, and wholesome fun are clearly reasons for a franchise to die off. Why instead, let's ignore the franchises that are clearly no longer doing well like Tony Hawk, Spyro, and Dynastry Warriors.
Fanboys.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Just because a series has been around forever doesnt mean it has to go. If it still puts out quality time and time again then whats the problem? Also to the dude that said turn based FFs needs to die. The FF series did away with turn based battles in 1991 with FF4 and hasnt looked back since. ATB=/=Turn based. Some game series should just give it up though. Sonic games and 3d Castlevanias dont seem to work. A massive 2d Castlevania would be kick ass on a next gen console though. Some games would do better with longer dev cycles. A lot of annual titles would be much better if they switched to either 2 or 3 year cycles. CoD and SC series come to mind in that regard. While i agree with the general point of your post... FFX has turn based battles, so actually its been six years since we've had a truly turn-based main series FF...

NO. YOU DO NOT SAY TURN-BASED HERE! The... random encounters... Oh God! *shiver*
People are jut using this thread as an excuse to bash. Calling out games that have had less than 4 titles is absurd, as those series still have potential. I mean really, Halo? ALL 3 games have been AAA. Not just here but on GR as well. Oh and Anshul saying Gears of War needs to die? Only 2 installments and it's being lumped with the likes of Sonic and Dynasty Warriors? Way to demonstrate your fanboy there. Same would go for MGS series.
Just because you don't like a successful series (mainly for being on the console you don't have) is NOT a justifiable reason to say it should die.
As for my death list;
Dynasty Warriors - too many titles that are all pretty much the same repetetive gameplay. If you played one, you played them all.
Sonic - just a series that has continued to go downhill, which is sad for one of the 16bit icons. Maybe if they stuck to 2D gameplay (with polished 3D graphics).
Tony Hawk - just like DW, too many of the same thing.
Gundam - bad gameplay compounded by even worse story, music, and voicing
Madden - a series that comes out each and every year, mainly just to update the roster. sure there are some new tweaks and features that come out here and there, but hardly enough to justify the annual releases.
And TC... you just leave Tomb Raider alone now!!! :P :P

I know some people think it just went into decline after the first two games, and that isn't much in dispute. But that stopped when Crystal Dynamics took over and reinvigorated the franchise. With Legend, they took it back to its roots with what made the 1st games so great, and improved upon it. Even despite the still persistent camera issues, the gameplay is solid and enjoyable. They even polished the game with more fleshed out story telling.
Some people will still insist that it's got nothing more going for it beyond the "big boobed babe". But really, Tomb Raider is a different flavor of gaming experience. It places much more emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving than action. This is what I would categorize as a game that gives the player a sense of wonder and discovery. It really places you in some fantastically exotic locations and creates authenticity of actual perished civilazations (Mayan, Aztec, Norse, etc...) where the ruins and tombs feel like realistic representations of those ancient peoples. TR is a series that doesn't just explore the ruins themselves, but of ancient mythologies as well (Camelot in Legends, and Norse in Underworld) with it's own renditions of the reality behind the theologies.
Granted with all that I said, some people might not be into this sort of thing. I can say the mythological exploration aspect is what I really LOVE about Tomb raider, as well as the environmental puzzle solving. Sure you can say PoP does the latter as well, but Lara was doing it first :) I remember how in the 1st game people complained about the lack of action, where animals and enemy hunters showed up only occasionally. But that didn't bother me. I was so wrapped up in the exploration and awe of scale of the environments. All I wanted to do was figure out how to get the that portal on the far side of the massive catacombs, employing all the repertoire of Lara's moves (shimmying, climbing, chimney jumping, swinging on ropes and poles, wall flipping, etc....). I was glad not to have to fight so many creatures, that I felt would just get in the way of my enjoyment of exploration and discovery. But maybe that's just me :)
I don't care what GS or GR says, Underworld is by far the better game than Legend, and has surpassed all the game before, to be the best of the series. It incorporated all the best elements of exploring ancient ruins, mythologies, puzzle solving, acrobatic maneuvering, authentic cultural architecture... all combined for that vintage gaming experience of wonder and discovery.

The Sonic franchise as a plateformer. :?
Bring him and his gang from Sonic Adventure into a all new Action, Adventure RPG done in the vein of Zelda OoT or WW and do it well; Sega could bank bundles of cash ! :D

Sorry, maybe you're not a fan of the series, but there are more than you think who are. And just to be clear, Eidos is the publisher, Crystal Dynmaics the developer. Uncharted did outscore Underworld, I'll give you that one though.
