Gaming Franchises that should just die off and stop putting games out already!!!

I'd say both Madden and Dynasty Warriors.

Madden: The only thing I see them doing every year is updating the roster and adding new features. Hardly justifies a $60 purchase. Seriously what's going to be the new feature for the upcoming Madden 09? And this is coming from a Madden junkie. I've yet to play Madden 08.

Dynasty Warriors: Nothing much to say other than repetitive gameplay. Not that I cared or anything.. :P but still enough is enough.

Mario? Zelda?...wtf? anyway, I agree with all but the 2D greats like Sonic and Castlevania. Would be nice to see these games developed as 2D action platformers with all the next gen goodness, Then everyone (including myself) would stop b*tching about not having any decent games under this genre, Hell I don't have a Wii but would consider buying one if Nintendo decided to take Metroid "back to its roots" but wishful thinking as far as thats concerned when developers probably consider the genre ancient. I love some of the riskier choices mentioned like Halo because of Recon/Wars I mean even if these games are any good, IMO should stop THERE. And you GTA haters should give Rockstar at least one more shot but if they don't deliver then I'll have to side with you on that one as well.

I would say the Ridge Racer series moreso than NFS is the racing series that needs to die. Those were just 7 of the same games with only updated visuals.

Well, they've said several times that the next Zelda is going to be much different than past titles so...lets hope it happens.

I can name two that need to die and are not because of some defensive fanboy positioning but the fact they are consistently horrible.

Sonic and Tomb Raider. Put them to rest, please.

Hell, when was the last time any of those games got more than an 8.0 (If that)? 

Need for Speed - rly, the last NFS game i enjoyed was underground 2... after that... pfft.

Tomb Raider - have they ever made a good TR game?

Smash Brothers, Banjo Kazooie, Killzone, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart, Metal Gear Solid (even though its awesome), Final Fantasy, Halo, Mass Effect,MarloStanfield

MGS - Ill just rent a movie next time , thanks.

GTA - Innovate, or move along. The genre needs a makeover. 

Gears of War - I would really like to see what else this team can do. The IP was great, but they will destroy it with 3, I garuntee it. 

Halo -Just plain bland. After a decade the team needs to move on. 

Call of Duty - Get out of ww2 or go away.

Tomb Raider - The originals were awesome for their stories. The new ones are horrible because of their stories. The series needs better direction, however after the last 4-5 sequals of attempted "reinventions" it's clear this is just a dead franchise.

Final Fantasy - Yes I know it's blasphemy... but seriously the expectations for the series are so high it has elevated the production costs, and development time to rediculous levels. I would rather have 2-3 decent games from Square in the time it takes them to create 1 Final Fantasy. 

I would like to add Pokemon, I stopped liking those games after Gold/Silver, there's not much difference between those games, I'm shocked barely any of you mentioned it.

Halo might get milked with Halo Wars, Halo Recon, Peter Jackson's Halo Project and the rumored Halo 4 on the next Xbox.

Halo has only 3 titles so far and that's milked? What does that say of MGS series (at 4 so far)? Or Gran Turismo (which is doing the 5th game in installments)? What about Resident Evil?

The fact is, those other titles you listed are all over 6 iterations (FF having the highest count), as are Dynasty Warriors, Ridge Racer, and Tony Hawk. Even when you add the future confirmed games Recon and Halo Wars, that's still less games in the Halo series than all those other franchises. Just how you rationalize Halo being "milked" exactly? :|:|:|:|
