I knew people were going to come on here and say Halo. 3 AAA games and they franchise needs to stop? It hasn't been overdone in the least.

I'd say sonic. He just needs to go away. I actually believed Unleashed could be good, but it ended up being another piece of junk.

As far as my own personal litmus test is concerned, some franchises don't even have to suck for me to want them to go away. If a franchise is still quality, but is becoming so stale that it is getting downright dull, I am not sad to see it go. I feel that Ratchet and Clank games tend to be of a higher quality than recent Sonic titles, but I'd rather see new Sonic games than Ratchet games if only for the reason that Sonic games don't tend to be shameless rehashes.

For the record, if Insomniac did something bold with the series, I would be perfectly fine with it staying around and would be fine with games coming out frequently. My issue is that nothing about it ever changes. When I look at some of the environments in R&CF: ToD, I get de ja vu. Don't even get me started on how many times they rehashed the arena. It is seriously getting ridiculous. 

I'm stunned by how much this series has lost its luster for me. I used to be hugely impressed by the series when it was first getting started and now I think its becoming a bit of a self-parody.  They need to give Ratchet and Clank the Mario Galaxy treatment: find some way to keep the charm of the series intact while making significantly different design choices.

Well, Mario doesn't need to die off, he just needs fewer apperances in games. I think all those sports and party games aren't good, but since there is no 3rd party support for the Wii the best games are often Mario sports games. But to say Mario needs to die completely is utter bull****. Mario is probably what introduced 95% of this board to gaming (at least the older gamers, I'm not sure about the 12 year olds in here)

Well, unlike many of the other posters I'm going to list games that USED to be good and have gone downhill, or games that sucked and continue to suck. 1. Sonic. The series was great in the 2D era. With it's emphasis on speed it was never gonna translate well...either make a new 2D platformer(which I think could still be popular, and with the power of todays systems you could make them graphical powerhouses)or just let the critter die. 2. Spyro. Hasn't been good for nearly a decade. Let it die. 3. Crash. See above 4. Ratchet and Clank. Doesn't need to die, just needs more time between installments. 5. Need for Speed. Stop with the "tuner" scene, at least for a while. Make a new game in the vein of Porsche Unleashed(ie a "story" based mode starting from the early days(30's or 40's) through today. Then go and do underground 3. 6. Gran Turismo. Either make the game advance relative to the time between games or just give up. GT's have laways played mostly the same they need to advance the series(Forza has met and surpassed GT's progress over 4.5 games in just 2 games). Stop saying games you may or may not like when they're still popular and critically acclaimed(I'm looking at those talking about Halo and the like)Steppy_76
