Why not? To say this thread has already had 150 posts in less than 5 hours, even after there were about 5 threads on GT6 all on the front page... I would say it is kind of needed

GT5 wasn't 1080P and GT6 most likely won't be either. (Unless there's a PS4 release as well)

I keep forgetting though because the game does look sharper to me than 720p games. Surely the menus are in Full HD. Anyway yeah you are right, it's really doubtful this game will be 1080p.

That's not relevant though, the point is that this one game is generating so much traffic on this forum that it was clogging up the first page opf the forum, so they needed to have a single official thread for it all.

The timing for this is terrible. They should have waited and made it for the PS4.

Biased? really?! Pretty sure the Nextbox thread was stickied for a little, but as soon as traffic dies down it becomes unstickied, that's how it works. It's nothing to do with what game it is, it's simply all on number of threads to do with the topic.

Sony doesn't abandon their consoles when a new one launches. GT6 will do fine.

It looked great nevertheless, especially the replays. That it runs in higher res than 720P and mostly 60 fps is an achievement too, considering the PS3 hardware.

It did, but the Xbox hasn't even been revealed yet. When it gets revealed it will probably be restickified.

Oh man looks amazing. Apart from one glaring error that makes it inaccurate: there are barely any clouds in the sky! Silverstone is in the UK, it's rarely sunny there! :P

I said this before but This is kind of old rumor-news, but yeah...There was always going to be a GT6, and anyone familiar with the series knew it. It won't be new for long. :P

GT6 is slated for PS3.

Later on Polyphony will know the PS4 hardware and release GT7, which is in line with two major numbered GT's per Playstation.

PS1 = GT1 & 2
PS2 = GT3 & 4
PS3 = GT5 & 6
PS4 = GT7 & 8, etc. (Not counting the side editions)

Sony supports their old platforms as much as the new ones, which is unlike something we might see on other consoles. We saw the PS2 got Sony's God of War 2, Sony's Gran Turismo 4, FFXII, Okami, Sony's Shadow of the Colossus, MGS3 : Subsistence, Kingdom Hearts 2, Persona 3 & 4, Sony's Rogue Galaxy, Sony's Champions of Norrath 2: Return to Arms and many other amazing games the years of 2005-2008. I chose 2005 because that's when the Xbox 360 released, marking a next generation. God of War 2 was a notable AAA title for PS2 made by Sony themselves that released after the PS3 launched in 2006. That wasn't an anomaly either.

GT6 being on PS3 didn't surprise me, in fact I expected it. The idea that Polyphony would already have a handle on the PS4 so quick would actually be far more surprising considering their track record. Plus, they have the PS3 engine good to go, may as well crank one final magnum opus GT out before developing the PS4 engine.

I remember playing through Chrono Cross and some great PSOne titles that released after the PS2 launched in that same fashion. It's nice knowing the 1st party retail support is still there just because a new machine came out. Sony don't just drop the old machine like what we saw with the N64, Gamecube, Xbox, Saturn, Wii, and other competitors. GT will make an appearance on PS4 a few years after the PS4 has been out, for now this newest GT title will probably go down as the the PS3's absolute best GT title. It seems like Polyphony work hard at learning the hardware for the first game, and really polish up for the sequel.

It makes perfect sense though as I posted earlier, two main entries per console. This falls in line with that and allows Polyphony to use everything they learned the first go round for a final PS3 opus before moving onto PS4 hardware.

Being realistic, it's going to take awhile for Polyphony to get a handle on the PS4 and have a GT game ready soon. It's also fair for those gamers that invested in a PS3 to get one more major GT title. The PS3's install base is about 80 million, so this is good revenue for Sony. It's also something that gamers can enjoy while Polyphony starts work on a new engine for PS4.

Either way, a PS4 version of GT wouldn't be coming out for a long while, and this will be that in betweener for GT fans...and for you sales fans, GT is a sales monster. It's up there with the other gaming sales titans like Mario, Halo, etc.

It's going to get lost in all of the hubub about the new consoles. Do you honestly believe that Sony is going to waste time on GT5 in the middle of a new console launch?

I think not. We'll see how much time they spend talking about it at E3.

Sony could announce the PS4, PS5, PS6 and PSVita 2 and this game would still sell millions easily. It's just that big of a franchise. Nothing would overshadow it.

That is something I really appreciate from sony, on the other hand we have MS that has already abandoned their console before even announcing a new one. Same with the original Xbox.

It looked great at times. It looked like a PS2 game running in HD at other times. It was a mixed bag. I hope GT6 will not have these graphical inconsistencies.

Although I think that's a big steaming pile of bullshit. The first 2 Playstations were incredibly popular, why wouldn't they support them? The current Xbox will have outlasted most consoles EXCEPT the Playstations,  so I don't understand why people are acting like this is some monumental act by Sony.

Based on Polyphony's Track record, Polyphony couldn't make a launch PS4 game.

They could get the game out a year or two after launch, but they are making GT6 the second PS3 GT game instead, which was always apart of the GT plan. Two main numbered GT's per PS for the fans.

It would be a shame to let Polyphony's hard earned PS3 engine, assets, and knowledge go to waste especially considering how much time they invested in the PS3 engine and how long it took them to get that up to speed. That's the reality.

In a fantasy, I would love for the PS3 fans to get their second GT game, GT6.  I would love the PS4 gamers get a launch GT7, and racing fans could be happy everywhere, but it's not in the cards as it's not technically possible for Polyphony.

There will be GT on PS4, but it will take time to get that game up to task.

So it's coming out 2016 then? :P

Yup! While I highly doubt they managed to convert all the standard cars to premium (let's face it, they are a small studio and only had 2 and a half years whilst doing so much else for it), I still hope they managed to convert a good 100-200 decent standard cars to premium :)

That's unexpected. But I don't think it will release on PS4 given by Polyphony Digital's track record which makes sense.
