That's half a month away, this thread will be unstickied probably today anyway.
in that case another one would surely be created or else everything would be discussed in the E3/Sony sticky

Yeah another will likely be created and stickied. Anyone remember the incredible size of the GT5 hype thread? Think that got to around 10000-12000 posts before it died.

The GT series has gone so far downhill that I just can't get excited about this one.
I love me some driving games but the real simulators are ALL on PC, the most fun 'arcade-sim' racers are on Xbox (Forza and PGR series) and the best MP's come from Codemasters and are faaaaar superior on PC.

True, there was a lot of blind hate from people who had never played and would likely never play the game, but there was occasionally a nice discussion about the game itself.

Sweet cars no doubt, it is a shame there are not enough of these in GT. Having said that though, I do prefer European cars, wouldn't mind it if they got rid of some of the Japanese cars and added a few more European and muscle cars.

I was about to say this. They put a lot of emphasis into the physics but ruin the experience with sub par sounds, boring graphics, and just too clean of a look. There is no sense of speed or thrill, hitting the corners at high speeds has no real impact. They could do so much to improve the look and feel of the game to match the superb physics yet they just don't do it.
Turn 10 does. Makes the games a lot more fun to play.Â
Now that is not true, Forza couldn't dream of making you feel the rush in GT5! probably most people who played both games would agree with me.
In GT5 it's like they have every bump on the road recreated and on top speed you get the feeling of the car hitting those bumps and constantly shakes while driving.
These are just two examples of how authentic the driving in GT looks and feels.
Even the engine sounds here are more true to life, the problem is half of the cars maybe more doesn't sound like that.
EDIT: I think the problem with that video is the cam recording, plus it's a demo of an unfinished game that needs 5-6 months so maybe they didn't "switch on" all of the effects and stuff like that yet.
Â
Sorry, but Forza 4's engine sound effects and racing sound effects are much more realistic and true to life. ESPECIALLY in that video. Honestly, you tried to prove how GT is better, yet you did the reverse. The game isn't "unfinished". What you see is 90% what you'll be getting come release day. Don't expect drastic changes. You're only setting yourself up for disappointmentÂ

M3's are amazing yes but they are also $70,000. The average consumer can afford a $33,000 Mustang GT that will walk an M3. Get a Boss or GT500 and it only gets worse for the M3. I love M3's but if I'm buying something for a car for the track days. I'm getting a Corvette Z06, Camaro SS 1LE or Mustang Boss.

Wow, that comparion is like night and day. Forza looks like an early gen game and GT looks like a late gen game, and Forza 4 came out like a year later? The physics, reflections on the car, lighting, shadows, environment, detail, overall graphics. "Furthermore, there's no easy way to invite friends into sessions that you're playing in or even hosting. Friends can join the game you're playing in by visiting your in-game profile, but there's no quick way for you to send them an invite that they can simply choose to accept. Each room is also assigned a unique 20-digit code that you can distribute to anyone who isn't on your friends list via forums and such, which is a functional if inelegant way to get people into your room, and a necessary evil given the lack of matchmaking."

No.
(Editors note: This apparently does not apply to all of the cars which were listed as Standard in GT5. For example, two cars which were prominently featured in the GT6 trailer and its first official batch of screenshots, the Lamborghini Countach LP400 and Alpine A110 1600S, both appeared as Standard cars in GT5 but have apparently been converted to full Premium models with interiors in GT6.)"

It's also pushing, what, 50% more pixels? And more cars, I think 16 vs 12?
GT6 trailer at 60 frames looks spectacular. Seriously, I really don't know how people can say that they can't tell a difference between frame-rates when the differences are like night and day and the overall visual quality is just amazing.
And obviously, download it and watch it on your PS3 because there aren't many video players on the PC that play 60frames the correct way, they all are made for 30 frames or lower. Another thing is, the suspension work, OMG... There's a part in the trailer where they show in slow-motion how the weight of the car shifts through the suspensions and it's crazy! Physics are like on another level.
Â
Â
edit: well, forget what I said, the trailer's like a bull-video according to Eurogamer but still is worth watching just because of the frame-rate. :(

Shift 2 takes a bit more knowledge in tuning to get the most of the cars. It's not at it's best to just hop in and drive. The default setups for the higher end cars are all incredibly soft and horrible.

You couldnt be more Wrong. GT3 or GT4 doesnt hold a candle to Forza 4 let alone Forza 1. and hheres why : here is a Quote in a IGN Article on GT4 vs. Forza 1. "Forza delivers incredible, and very distinct, physics and handling. These are slightly separate issues, but they do overlap. These cars all feature distinguished and wildly varying speeds, handling, cornering, and other driving aspects. From what I can tell so far, the most distinct aspects are found in the cornering. The cars feel less arcade-like than GT, and even with the assists on, the vehicles are phenomenally realistic. The physics model more precisely transfers weight during turns and requires a different learning curve than GT. More importantly, the cars take damage, which affects their performance drastically -- i.e., when damaged, they lose acceleration, veer to one side, or lose traction among other things. Also, we have yet to flip a car." http://m.ign.com/articles/2005/02/16/forza-vs-gt4 So that just proves how outdated GT3/GT4 is compared to Forza 4 let alone Forza 1. ;)

Also, we have yet to flip a car." http://m.ign.com/articles/2005/02/16/forza-vs-gt4 So that just proves how outdated GT3/GT4 is compared to Forza 4 let alone Forza 1. ;)jessejay420

Well, duh. Of course it has a more advenced physics model than the PS2 games. That wasn't my point. GT games have always felt more authentic.

[QUOTE="jessejay420"] You couldnt be more Wrong. "the cars feel less arcade like than GT" Yeah, that sure sounds like Authentic to me  Fact : GT3/GT4 dont hold a candle to Forza 4. i know thats probably hard for you to deal with but its true.
heres an interesting article from people that know about cars that compared both games.

heres whats wrong with the review you posted: from the comments section; " First, I'd like to know exactly what assists were used in Forza. Based on how they describe it, it sounds like they had ABS, SC, and TC all turned on. Also, last time I checked, when you smash your car into a wall at 150mph, its realistic that it breaks and doesn't function well if at all (Forza), not keeps going like nothing happened (GT5). C&D even says they did not use damage simulation. Well, how can you accurately assess how realistic these two games are if that's turned off? That's a major part of reality idiots. There's no way C&D tested Forza under its full realism (all assists off, all simulation, hard AI). The fact that they crown GT5 on realism while admitting to not testing Forza with its damage model completely smashes the credibility of this review." lol @ using 'Car & Driver' as a source for reviewing games. maybe next time you can use 'Guns & Ammo Magazine' as a review source for the next Battlefield Game.
We wont be making all the Standard cars from GT5 into Premium models, and we wont make all of the GT5s Standard cars fully Premiumized.
Up until now, we used to categorize them as Standard and Premium because there were functional differences between them: some of the Standard models might not have tuning parts, or couldnt be used in Photo Mode. Â That will all be cleared so every model can be used in Photo Mode, and every car can have parts fitted for it.
In terms of graphics quality, the bad quality Standard models weve updated so they look better.
Will all of the cars have interior views?

And people want PS3 cars on PS4? how about PS2 cars on PS4? lol.

*sigh* that really puts a damper on things. Thats the one thing I wanted them to sort out. Seriously cut the carlist to 600, take out all the rehash skylines, evos, etc, and make every car premium! Add in a couple new tracks, and integrate rally, nascar, f1, karts a little better, and boom, an instant hit. But Kaz always has to do it his way

I honestly dont mind having Premium & standard cars... I play racing games for the thrill of speed not to see which has the most accurate dashboard representation of else looks visually better..
When we talk graphics you see a sudden flux of posts stating gameplay > visuals, but in this case having standard cars in GT5/ GT6 is bad... As long as PD keeps fine tuning the ameplay aspect thats more than fine with me.. (Luckily they did huge improvements with GT5 & hopefully we improve further with GT6)

While I do agree that Gameplay >>> Graphics, and that GT6 should have gameplay sorted in spades... It is nice as well to have aesthetic consistency throughout the game. It has got to the stage where there are many Premium cars anyway, so why not cut the standard cars entirely at this point?

It wouldnt be fair to cut the standard cars.. many buy racing games cause they love that genre and cannot afford to buy most of them.. so taking out 200 standard cars would put off many gamers...Â
Why not avoid buying/racing with standard cars? not fair taking them out cause even though not pleasing to the eye, many car enthusiast would still enjoy racing with standard models..
