we all know bioshock water is amzing and its gonna get goty i am getting of bioshock threand now, time to start hyping something else. like ahh....haloamorbis1001
seeing as the game takes place (as far as i know anyway) compleatly underwater except for the verrrrrrrrrrrry start, it damn well better have good water graphics (halo had pretty good water in the beta and i hear it got better), also crysis shows cool water
True, but the cost they went to get those effects? An entire team of programmers? Wow. The rest of the game better be as awesome as the water... lol.ParkCarsHere
Lol Thats best comment I've heard all month.
It's cool if you get melleed or shot while you are standing in water or in a cascade of water. It turns red from your blood. I really liked that tunnel part and the water was really cool. My favorite was how the windows cracked and the crack kept spreading and small jets of water came from the cracks every now and then.
Also later on in the demo in that area where the elevator falls and creates an explosion, when the water breaks through the glass roof and starts filling the room I waited there to see how much it filled. It extinguished the flames and made the couch and signs start to float. It was cool. I kinda got impatient to wait for the water so I just stepped into the elevator after that.
Anyway, the water effects are superb.
im thinking crysis, but im sure crysis's water effects will make my comp blow up. so, anybody can tell me bioshock's pc requirements? (is it for pc or was that mass effect? im not paying attention to these games though they're talked about a lot. is bioshock the one with guy with diving suit metal helmet)?bionicle_loverCrysis will have lower requirements than Bioshock...
In Crysis there is tidal waves. :)

Pleanty if you have a decent video card.
Taking pictures of TV's always makes them look better. But I'm sure it still looks amazing.Metroid_Time
the water EFFECTS. just go look at it in motion. and see the greatness.

I will when the PC version comes out.

oooo now i see a problem. ive only got myself a 7600GS. o well, by the time crysis releases, i hope i can snag something higher for a lower price than currently :D im glad video card developers are pushing out new ones very often.
Agreed, Bioshock's water gets it closest to real-looking water. It just looks amazing.
Last-gen, Metroid Prime has some nice looking water effects for its time.

or you can simply search for a video of it... I don't see how a picture could make the water get better, i mean maybe if it was a picture of him holding a gun in a lightly lit room or something where the camera could have enough contrast to make the graphics look sharper and more crisp.
Agreed. The water effects in BioShock are hands down the most realistic I've ever seen.BioShockOwnzyes. it's shockingly good.
The water effects had a designer working entirely on it, nothing else, just water.FusionApex
So does Halo 3, I believe.
The bungie team has a lot of people souly working on water effects as well as other nature-like effects.

Ohhh, catchy. ;)
Lair's water is better looking than that.Elite_Spartan21

ohhhh!! lol, I didn't notice that until you post it.
yup..its a wow factor :oHeil68I was wowed floating in the water after the plane crash. I was like, ""
Crysis, actually. There's a demo in which the player goes into the water, and until I saw that, I never knew how bad underwater effects realy were.brainiac24yea, Crysis underwater is really cool. but the surface-level effects...Bioshock will be the best on the market. i'll wait until Crysis comes out before I say it dethrones Bioshock.

Good looking, Yes. Realistic, No
No, not so good... just sprite ripples. In Dx10 it will have proper ripples though. (dissapointing, lots of dx9 games have proper shader ripples)The water looks good but are the water physics just as good? As in when you move through it do you see realistic ripples of water move?

Harbadakus
Oh then it's not that impressive. If you see some of the water effects in uncharted, they looks just as good if not better as a whole compared to those bioshock ones...

They're just basically like the Kameo water ripples.
Bioshock's water looks the best overall. But doesn't have the water physics (DX10 apparently does).
Halo 3 has some great water physics.
