I'm not angry, I'm just annoyed that you keep saying they look similar. They are not! How about you post pic of kameo's water? (no offscreen shots, justpics or video capture on your computer)

And here's another idea: Just play the game. I understand you REALLY like Uncharted and don't want its reputation to be ruined or whater. But it's a good thing that Uncharted's water looks like Kameo's. Kameo's water looked amazing.

Did someone call Crysis' shoreline ugly?

Real time = Crysis' version

If the shorelines in your game can be favorably compared to those in real life, they ain't ugly. Hard to even tell at first glance which is fake or real in the pic above without any reference names.

Here's a long-distance pic for good measure. Crysis' lighting is unbelievably amazing. That's what makes its water so good. If you look at a couple of the E3 demos, at one point the demonstrator is on the beach shooting Koreans, and the sun is bright and low and you see it realistically reflecting and shining all over, including the ocean. Quite spectacular.

Ugh, youtube quality. At least I used a 720p video (and scaled it down so it looked even better).

Anyways, I still stand by uncharted being much more realistic. Kameo has some nice ripples but it simply doesn't look as realistic. Uncharted water looks and acts like... water. Kameo's water is kind of weird. It shinny-ish. Its almost like a pool of mercury but more transparent. (Yes, I've seen a small pool of mercury in real life)

Plus it's not like I've played uncharted either, I'm judging them both from just videos. And I still think uncharted water is way more fluid.

I wasn't comparing Half Life 2 and Bioshock. I was saying three years ago, I was very impressed with the water effects from Half Life 2. Since standards have changed, when I looked at Bioshock water I wasn't as impressed since my standards are much higher now. Besides, Half Life 2 still has some very nice water effects :P

I wasn't comparing Half Life 2 and Bioshock. I was saying three years ago, I was very impressed with the water effects from Half Life 2. Since standards have changed, when I looked at Bioshock water I wasn't as impressed since my standards are much higher now. Besides, Half Life 2 still has some very nice water effects :P

Yep, after the demo I knew this game would set a new benchmark in gaming quality.

The atmosphere and depth of the world created in this game puts all previous efforts to shame.

This game simply shows us what true storytelling should be in a game.

Oh yeah, the water is top notch as well...

True. I have the demo and they arent that great. This thread makes the water seem 100 times better. But I will say at the beggining in the plane crash it looks amazing. Take a picture of that one TC.

I agree. But in dealing with actual gameplay it seems to be mediocre. At least from the demo. I know that I may be judging too early but I dont think the story and atmosphere alone should be enough to warrent a 10 or 9.5 from any reviewer.

Really, this is a pretty trivial thing to look at. Water? I know, its cool to look at when its so close to being real. But is it that much more of a factor than faces, clothes, trees and foliage, textures, etc., etc.?

I was impressed by the water in Zelda Twillight Princess. If you stood still it didn't look so hot, but if you were running it looked awesome.caseypayne69

that game wasnt the best graphical achievment ever but the art direction made everything seem stunning.
