I guess this proves that GT5 AI is not worse than F3 unlike what many reviewers said.

The "bonus" logic is so silly. When has another racing game had such a gulf between the quality of cars? When has a racing game had the majority of cars looking janky and a much small percentage looking amazing?
GreySeal9
Hmm unless you like going to photomode and zoom on the cars I bet you won't notice any difference in motion anyway reviews are nothing but a some person opinion so saying F3 > GT5 just because one got 8 on GS and other got 9.5 without even playing both games is just too stupid it's like saying MGS4 and GTA4 are the best games on HD consoles because both got 10 (while they are not).
[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]And what makes him biased? Because he posted a vid for GT5?Why do you automatically take this video from a biased poster as some sort of basis for these assertions?

Because he's not bashing it, obviously... see my original post.

Well, the dude that made the video is not who I'm calling biased, so...
I was just saying that you should put this thread through a critical thinking procedure before implying a media conspiracy against the PS3.

In the end, a person's own opinion should be the only one that matters to them (outside of using reviews for general guidance), but I wasn't really talking about the score. I'm just saying that is frankly absurd that the cars differ in visual quality. They should all be premium quality. There wouldn't be as many cars, but you wouldn't have the standards dragging down the overall quality of the game.
I'm not implying any conspiracy, simply giving voice to an observation I've made. PS3 exclusive games get flack for the same crap that other games have, but never get mentioned. I remember Uncharted 1 getting flack from reviewers for making you stand still to regenerate health. It's just so odd to me.

Bingo 80% of the cars look worse than 20% of the cars also 80% no in car view or better cosmetic damage. This is a major issue and if it were any other game the score would be lower than 8.0 imo.

I was talking about U1, not U2. I don't have examples, these are passing observations. It should be taken as such, my personal observations. I haven't researched the matter (and don't intend to), so I have no idea if it's the same reviewers or whatnot. Simply put, reviewers for any given publication should be using some standard rubric so as to give at least a little consistency between different reviewers on that site, so it really shouldn't matter if it's the same reviewer.

After all, to make about consistency or PS3 games being held to a different standards, you need a basis for comparison.

Hell, if I were the only one saying GT5's AI is retarded, I'd understand where you were coming from but its dumb AI has been a common complaint about the game from critics and people who've played the game.
being worried about the ai in gt5 is like being worried that you caught a cold on the way home from the doctor that just told you that your cancer tests came back positive.
average ai is a drop in the bucket when it comes to gt5 problems.

For me I guess what Racing1750 said in the hype thread is the perfect description for GT5.
Do you know what GT5 remind me of? That BMW M5 review that Jeremy did in 2005. The car had a lot of niggles that ruined it, but once you pressed the M button everything that was annoying didn't matter.
I just drove that caterham on the TG test track. At that moment I realized all the design flaws were no longer in my head. GT5 made me feel like I was driving this super light track day car on this track. I felt for all the small niggles, GT5 was doing what it does best. Put you in the seat of a car and make you feel like you're really there.
I know I've had a lot of bad things to say, but when you drive a car with no assists in GT5, it makes complete sense.
I feel like GT5 is that M5. All the faults that could drive you mad. But press that M button, and nothing else matters.

in the bmw example that guy (top gear reviewer i'm assuming) can say that with the full knowledge that he himself would never own that car.
Still I think the point is GT5 does what its supposed to do the best and that the core gameplay (Driving the car) and I completely agree with this, its one of the areas where GT5 shines.

i don't give bonus points for doing the very basic aspect of what you are supposed to do.

So what sites lodged that complaint and how do you know that the criticism was a case of inconsistency?
After all, to make about consistency or PS3 games being held to a different standards, you need a basis for comparison.
As I said, these are trend I've noticed in passing. They are by no means conclusive, just what I have noticed. Of course, my standards aren't eveyone's, so what I call flaws, such as Halo's gunplay or Gears' clunky mechanics, may not be flaws to most. I also find most online games are too laggy to be called competitive but, again, that's just me.
As far as sites, both IGN and Gamepot reviews are all over the place in both scores and review content. I'm talking about what they praise and gripe about. For this reason, I have just stopped reading reviews altogether, because they are so inconsistent. I get subjectivity, but I think there should be a rubric that all the reviews on a site should follow, be rated on, then the writing can show the reviewers opinion.
