GT5 Will Outsell any 360 Exclusive

Heck, ODST, a 60$ Expansion, sold 5.5 million copies!

Also, Reach has one more month than GT5, so more sales are kinda guaranteed.

Add that with the ridiculous amount of marketing that MS will do for this game (It is their biggest game of this year), and that will makea lot of copies.

The only reason so many people bought it was because that was the first good game that came out for XBOX users..

The popularity of GT shouldn't be underestimated. It's possible, but Reach will be a sales beast too. Time will tell.

You can't be serious! A sim racer will out sell Halo Reach. I just don't see that happening. Now if you are saying that this will be the best PS3 exclusive WW ,yes. For record I don't even like Halo but I'm not going todisrepect the obvious sales monster that Halo is. It might not be the most creative game but it definitely sells to the casual and hard core gaming crowd. I won't by Halo but it is obvious a lot more people will buy that than GT5.

Hasn't EVERY full fledged Grand Turismo game sold 10 million? (not counting PSP or GT5 Prologue). Gran Turismo is easily the best selling Sony Playstation franchise all time.

I'm sure it won't come close to 10million in it's first month (wouldn't that be some sort of record?). But GT5 Prologue was the only one that didn't sell 10 million during it's lifespan, and it still sold 5million even when PS3 had almost no market saturation. I think it's realistic for GT5 to outsell Halo. Although it could really go either way. Based on hype I would say Halo:Reach should probably outsell it. I've already seen adds for Halo Reach in movie theaters and whatnot, Gran Turismo just got announced with a release date and there hasn't been any marketing campaign started yet, so probably not as much hype other than the people that have been DYING for the game for 2 years.

I don't really care. I'm definitely getting GT5 and probably getting a 360 just for Reach, Gears of War 3, and Alan Wake. I figure that finally 360 has enough exclusives it's worth getting it to go along with my PS3 and Wii.

Dude. Gran Turismo has always sold 10 million copies for it's "full fledged" releases. The Ps2 games combined for over 25 million copies.

As a franchise Gran Turismo is probably more than double Halo in sales. Even the Gran Turismo Prologue sold 5 million copies when Ps3 barely had any system sales, and it was marketed as a "demo for the full game". Not bad in comparison to Halo 3's 8 million copies when Halo was basically the 360's killer app.

I think both games should easily do 5 million copies, but it's hard to predict either will be massive massive sellers and reach something like 10 million. I see no way that Gran Turismo 5 will come close to it's PS2 sales numbers due to fact PS3 doesn't dominate sales like PS2 did. GT3 did like 15 million for goodness sakes!!!! But considering the sales of GT5 prologue I think it's safe to say that GT5 should do at least the same 5 million sales as the prologue. Anything short of that would be disappointing, but I would guess Sony would be hoping for more like 7+ million as a benchmark.

GT5 comes out on November 2nd in Europe and NA ...... thats excluding Japan which is GT's largest market. Nonstop-Madness

1. GT4 sold about 1/3 less than GT3.

2. Three Forza games have come out in the meantime. All have been critically acclaimed. For the first time, GT has serious competition (to copmare, only GT3 scored above a 9).

3. AFAWK, the game's NASCAR mode doesn't support a 43-car grid, so the NASCAR experience is gimped (crowded tracks and three-wides are part of the thrill), and NASCAR fans could be turned off by that fact.

Most gamers are not into driving simulation games nor plane simulation games and would rather play modnation/RidgeRacers/NFS series because of the excitement factor. I love driving simulation games and I got Forza3 and waiting for GT5 to release, but face it the majority of gamers would rather escape from realism.MrFamBoyLOL

Gran Turismo is the best selling playstation franchise PERIOD, across all game categories. So if people don't like driving simulators, how did it become the #1 Playstation seller of all time with over 50 million total units sold?

Also Modnation might not reach 1million sales. I wonder if this generations Ridge Racer games on PS3 and 360 even reached 100K sales apiece? Those were not the best examples to prove your point LOL.

Again. Look at the sales numbers for the Gran Turismo series. That is real data. A google search trolling the net for "opinions" is not real data, It's not relevant at all. I'm quite sure if I searched for "Halo sucks" I would get plenty of hits as well. But what does that mean towards the sale data? Not a damn thing.

Anyway I'm not arguing it is absolute that GT5 will outsell Reach. I never said that at all (the OP did, I didn't). In fact if I had to guess I would say Reach will probably outsell it (my guess would be total sales Reach: 10 million GT5: 8 million). However it is also foolish to dismiss that possibility for a game that clearly has a history of much, much higher sales than Halo has ever achieved.
