That is indeed the vital question, and it's not the easiest one to answer. We do not know if those lurking for Halo 3 have already purchased their Xbox 360s or have instead put their purchase on hold till the game actually ships. The answer will be evident once the game actually releases. The smaller the boost in sales, the more Halo 3 fans have already purchased their Xbox 360 consoles prior to the release of Halo 3 release. However, the exact opposite would also be true. The higher the boost........you get the idea.

5-6 million PS3s + 10-12 million xbox 360 = 15-18 millions next gen consoles, just too little. I guess R* wants to release their cash cow when there are more consoles out there.alex77k

You sound as if I'm comparing them as the games that they are. I'm simply comparing them in terms of popularity. There simply is no game that will be able to compare with the sales of Halo 3 now when GTA 4 leaves the month of October entirely open for Halo 3. Those Xbox 360 owners who wanted both GTA 4 and Halo 3 but rather wanted GTA 4 firsthand will now have to succumb to the might of Halo 3 since there will be no GTA 4 there to save them, lawl!

Those games will sell well, sure, there's no doubt in my mind about that. But they will not be able to compare sales-wise with Halo 3, especially since both of those games will be competing against each other.

I bought some Activision stock today, hopefully it goes up. ticker atvi. Nintendo is a good bye right now(its had a couple of down days), NTDOY, my guy at Merril Lynch was able to get me some of this japaneese stock,

I wasn't gonna get this game this fall anyways. Xbox 360 has too many games that I will be buying.

Your right. GT5 won't outsell Halo 3. There are 3.5 million PS3 owners and 11.2 XBox 360 owners. Halo 3 is going to easily sell over 4 million copies. The PS3 don't even have 4 million PS3's in gamers homes and it's unlikely every PS3 owner will buy GT5.

That's 4.48 million shipped, not sold. Actually it looks like the PS3 just broke the 4 million mark according to vgchartz.com. It must have happened after Sony did their price drop. Sony wants to have 14.5 million shipped by the end of March 08. http://www.vgchartz.com/

Even so, there's no way GT5 will sell as many copies as Halo 3 this year. The XBox 360 price drop is coming soon. This should be interesting.

thinking about it This delaycould be good thing for sony. GTAdie-hards who would have bought a360for gta because the 360 is currently cheape rare being forced to wait now. In this waiting period price drops will most probably happen, leipzig and TGS will happen. A lot of first party sony exclusives will be unveiled in the coming months. Remeber reeves said that there are 6-7sony first part exclusives coming in the next 18 months as impressive as killzone. LA noire is currently a rockstar games ps3 exclusive (most probably not timed seeing as sony financed team bondi under a deal) and its not even the mysterious rockstar exclusive yet to be unveiled. I won't hype what i haven't seen but if this title really is as big as sony are making out gta fans may be further tempted to go ps3.

if you sit GTA IV with all the other juggernauts coming out on the ps3 in 08, you've got a really epic line-up.

Nintendo was very good to me. Around April I got it for $38 and sold it for $63 last week. It is down around $58 this week and I will buy it again if it goes down much more. The problem is not every broker has access to it. (ticker NTDOY)

didnt rocsktar say the lead platform was the 360. didnt rockstar say that the ps3 version was a few weeks behind? they could've released the 360 version first. What happened huh?and you're last line about "you should already have" by that logic lemmings should have had halo 3 a year a go.

Do you realize that sony have given lots of devs the tools that uncharted devs used to make uncharted look and move so awesome? development times are going to be severely reduced.

the lead platform should always be the ps3. I think a lot of devs have been saying this recently. apparently its easier to port from the ps3 to the 360.

both will sell a lot but the hype on killzone (regardless ofif you like it or not) is monstrous. All this from an alpha build of a game.

Gears was a new IP that sold like crazy. i'm expecting a similar reaction, maybe not as big but similar.

For many gamers out there that'll pick up a ps3 like myself, killzone 2 will be the first experience of thatfranchise. Sony will market the game to death.
