Guerrilla Games actually made it !

I just finished Horizon two days ago. What a game! It feels so different and yet very familiar. It is a breath of fresh air into this industry. GG should be very proud. I always thought KZ games are decent but Horizon is just a massive step ahead. It almost felt like their lives were on the line when making it (probably true btw). Very well thought game, massive world, very original art direction, solid story and super fun and engrossing gameplay.

At some point, I almost felt like there is no way this game is living up to all hype and expectations. Especially with how crazy the idea is.Guess what? The game worked beautifully on all fronts.

The shift between KZ and HZD is staggering, and I can not remember any developer in recent memory who made such a dramatic shift. Going back and looking at their interviews and the confidence they had, it was all well based. I mean they truely earned a place among the likes of ND and Kojima prod. Who would believe they had such talent and imagination.

I am playing now on very hard and wow it is just 10 times better. you start using traps and setting up the field before engaging to avoid a quick death. You need to be more mindful now.

I was skeptical, indifferent about it before but after hearing lots of good things about it, I think I will have to get it. And I'm sure I'll enjoy it considering I like Killzone 2 &3 and I don't like FPS much.

lol a breath of fresh air by being a not as good far cry game? horizon is a good game but the constant blowjobs that people are giving GG because they didn't make another shitty shooter is silly.

@mems_1224: The only shitty shooter they made was maybe Shellshock but I never got a chance to play that one. Killzone was good but rushed, KZ2 was amazing, and Killzone 3 was a little less good then 2.

Agreed on Killzone 2. It was no where near amazing. I'd say it was mediocre on a good day.

I thought KillZone 2 was an amazing game. A ruthless rollercoaster. Never got around to playing KZ3 but Shadowfall I felt was a step down from 2.

Guerrilla definitely has talent, though. No question. Allowing them to go completely off the Killzone reservation was a great idea, though. I'm real excited to play this game after I'm done with BotW.

@Zensword: Its is not expected to sell 8m. Its just an estimate by an external party. Superdata I think?

Best game I played so far.

It's good but it's surrounded by some better games right now (Nioh, Zelda, NieR).

yea horizon is 20x the IP killzone was.

All I know is that I enjoyed the game and it has the best game story I have played for this gen.

Can't wait to play this as soon as I finish Breath of the Wild

You have terribru taste. KZ2 was alright. Playable. Nowhere near 9/10 worthy but certainly better than Halo 5's campaign.

I think KZ2 was the best in the series.

Other than the heavy controls im not sure why people hate it.

Its a lot better than Resistance and many other shooters that have gotten a lot of attention

So many of these shitty FPS shooters from last gen were so non memorable and awful. Made me almost hate the genre until I started going back further in time and playing some incline again.

As far as this game, the monster designs alone make me want to have nothing to do with it. Forget about the popamole gameplay.

My big issue with it was the extremely linear campaign with the tiny corridors and the boring story.

The MP was basically like a sluggish Call of Duty with killstreaks included. As soon as I saw killstreaks, I hated it.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great game is all I gotta say.

It's crazy to see how butthurt this game makes Fartbox fanboys. You can either get a PS4 and join the party or keep hating from the sidelines playing Halo Warz lol!

People complained that KZ2 was visually dry and depressing, which I think they got right based on who the enemy was. KZ3 was basically them trying to give fans what they wanted from KZ2. More detail about the Helgan home world like jungles, cities, and so on. Rico was an arse in KZ2 and he totally turns it around in KZ3. Story was decent but wasn't really exciting. Nothing like Horizon.

Killzone 4 is worse than 2 and 3

It is absolutely hilarious to try to claim something so inane as GG making some sort of 'miracle' improvement.

Everything that made KZ2 so amazing is present in HZD.

Awesome game so far. It's got the usual cliche storyline and sub part voice acting as expected from GG but that's only because Naughty Dog ruined story telling for every other game.

And that 91 for KZ2 was after a year plus long hate campagin from all the little Xbox/Halo kiddies in the gaming press since their entire console identity was based off those shiny green power FPS games. Hell, the Xbox fans at GameRadar alone spent six months pumping out article after article trying to convince gamers KZ2 was going to suck.

Not only was KZ2 the masterpiece FPS of last gen, it create the single biggest mass console fan butthurt in the history of gaming: the first realtime PS3 showing after the entire Windows/Xbox/Beyond3D world spent months and months claiming the original KZ2 reveal trailer was 'impossible CGI level graphics' and nothing but 'Sony lies'.

Spot on. KZ2 owned lems heavily last gen by being the masterpiece it was.

I was very skeptical. Not only i was never a fan of Killzone, but also, from the vids, HZD looked too much like Ubisoft open world games (schemactic exploration, invisible walls, collectibles, bland story, characters and lore, etc). I could not be more wrong! The game is huge, deep, and has some of the most interesting combat i have experienced in many time. Something i'm particulary loving is the scale and freedom. If you see a mountain, you will certainly find a way to reach the top, even if you are not supposed to be there. Games with this level of freedom are rare. In most open world games you always find a reachable place closed by an invisible wall.

It does have some flaws (you can not explore most interiors, vendors could have their own stores instead of just standing there, tallnecks and maps show too much information which, in my opinion, kills the unpredictability of exploration, etc) but for a new IP and a game of this scale, HZD is incredible!

All in all, i'm about 40 hours in but have only done 30% of the game. I'm simply loving it!

Reveal trailer is still a lot better especially when you look at the animation lol. Also lol at taking blurry shots of a compressed video to make the reveal trailer look bad.
