The point of it is people aren't well versed in general knowledge anymore.

So much so that American kids don't even know how many people live in the U.S out of the top of their head.

Why? I'm not sure. But they don't like to read, or watch the news etc.

I watch all of them.I also do reseach on most of there stories.For example, the WWE case,The micheal moore siko thing.The media wants u think they are lying about certain things.They brought on moore on CNN, but first they ran a short clip of why is movie is fails and made i=him look stupid on TV because he couldn't get his facts.He was already on the show and the next day he posted the facts his website and CNN never posted them.They try so hard to make people look stupid.

I saw that with nash and that women came out of no where and wouldn't let him speak.

World war 2: Germany felt somewhat screwed over after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles which basically crippled them as a nation in Europe. Germany was put down and pretty much made into an outcast as a nation. This was unfair, and after many years of poverty and depression caused by this Treaty, Germany grew resentful of the way the nation had been treated as a whole. Step in Hitler who shoves cash into arms production, and there you have it. War breaks out as the nation seeks to rebuild what it once was.

Killzone is pretty much identical to that concept, only the invaders are coming from another planet rather than another country. It is, as they said, world war 2 in space.

There's nothing wrong with that. So dont be so defensive. Its still a good story.

Maybe if you knew about world war one you would know how Germany was looked upon in the mid 20th century....

And I think the speech at the very start of the game shows the Helghast to be in a similar state to that of the Nazi party and with the same intentions.

Sources of inspiration. You're basically corrupting what is an article about the inspiration which created Halo into a bungie confession that they have plagiarised their storyline.

As far as i'm concerned, the idea of a ring-world was inspired by an old sci-fi novel. That's the basis which first inspired the game. I'd love for you to tell me what they've apparently stolen from to come up with a united series of colonies coming under attack from an onslaught of alien races all of which are completely different, but are united under their own fanatical religion which demands the extermination of the human race who are putting their life's work of collecting ancient relics from an extinct race known as the forerunners at risk.

Enter the spartan project, first designed to tackle outer-colony rebellion, eventually becoming what many believe to be the pivot on which the war with the Covenant stands. Throw in a corrupt group of prophets leading the covenant forces to a non-existant religious myth they call "the great journey" and one race within the Covenant discovering that their religion is a farce, leading to civil war within the hierarchy as the Prophets attempt to exterminate the Elites, who were once their protectors, now branded Heretics as they uncover the truth about the false religious propaganda.

And let's not forget the arbiter. A disgraced Elite branded with the mark of shame and sentenced to death, instead made the Arbiter; a being with the task of finding and destroying herecy, one of the most respected beings in the covenant eco system, himself becomes a heretic as he too learns the truth and begins to aid the work of the humans in preventing the use of the Halo rings to instill "the great journey" or what he learns to be nothing more than a super weapon which triggers a galactic holocaust.

And i haven't even mentions the forerunners and the flood... it'd take too long.

I didn't play halo but this sounds cliche to me.

1) Group x finds out belief y is wrong

2) Leader x uses group y forhis/herown purpose

3) The most devout become the least

4) Using shame to instill devotion

5) Group strives for one thing, causes something worse

6) Fanatically united races

Someone also mentioned the Great Schism, ughhh I always thought it was more of a referance to the reformation that they didn't pull of correctly.

Yes, it's been done before, but not in a "bad" cliche sense. Everything to an extent has been done before.

Not all the Prophet Leaders were corrupt. Prophet Truth, as indicated by his name, seems to be the only one that knows about the "real" Great Journey.

The Arbiter (Leader X) does not use all of the original Covenant (Group Y). That would be an amateur cliche, seen in many amateur novels. But instead, the groups are divded up, Hunters seemingly with the Elites, whilst Grunts perhaps forced to join the Prophet's ranks (Red eyes?)

The most devout becoming the least is merely another way of representing revelation and character development.

Using shame to instill devotion..... done in Christianity, which Bungie is reflecting.

The now Eliteless Covenant do not know what they're heading for. The Brutes just want to please the Prophets, hence they follow them. And why were the Elites the most likely to break away from the Covenant first? Why because they were bitter enemies with the Prophets, of course.

And fanatically united races.... that's a cliche? That was so vague it went nowhere. IF you want cliche, you've got to be more specific. Fanatically united races heading towards their doom? I could give you that one.

Vandal, this is the amount of vagueness you can object to. It has no sense of direction, and really can apply to almost anything.
