is it me or has the wow factor already died?!?! anasbouzid
Nope, I'm more excited than ever. Especially Forge, that looks like it could be a good time and lead to some sweet (and maybe silly) online matches. I like Halo games but I never got very deep in to them but as far as I can tell, theres just WAY more of everything, tons of vehicles, weapons, and gadgets like the bubble shield. Of course, its still got that Halo-ish look and feel to it, thats only natural.
I am not easily impressed, why are some of you guys so easily impressed :|
Compare theses screens to Bioshock, mass effect or even the Darkness ffs.
Yongying
I still find them pretty good. I'm most impressed with the scale of the maps while still containing crisp textures and lighting.

Sounds like you just have ridiculously high standards. PC gamer, by chance?
Those games look great but Halo 3 is looking great too.

They all look good in specific ways that cater to their play style.
My god, the water looks better than Bioshocks.Ospi
alright i love halo but no way in hell is what you just said true.
people don't count ya chickens before they hatch, yes the game looks good graphically. Please correct me if i am worng but are these images taken form the imax presentation? if so, you people saying that they are ordinary have to remeber the game was being played on an abosolutelty massive screen. On a smaller high def screen the game would look better.
However you people saying that halo3 looks better than bioschock must remember that halo3 hasn't even been released you really can't pass a judgement until you see the finished product.
As for the comapsrison to mass effect, the fact that it is an oblivion style rpg (whateva it is called) will take away form the graphics, so i think it is safe to say halo3 looks better than mass effect

Wow, dude, these pictures are SCREENSHOTS. Not some guy taking a pic of the big screen with his camera. If you put this on your tv it would look exactly the same (if you have high def).

I'm going to have to agree with Ospi.
I honestly thought Bioshock would have the water aspect in the bag for years to come. Yet when I played the demo, the water looked just a little.... unrealistic. I can't explain it. It's 3D yet 2D at the same time. There's just something about it that's not quite right.
Perhaps Bioshock's water has many more animations, but this one is more pleasing on the eye.

Lol, someone trying to be smart, but then messes up.Also, Halo 3 comes out in ~a month, I would guess this is how the final version will look.
Aww hell na! Bioshock's water is amazing, it owns halo's.Juggernaut140
Well, is the retail version of Bioshock (PC or 360) any different from the demos? Aesthetically speaking, that is.
Look, the Bioshock water looks great. But it's like it hit the "Uncanny Valley" for water.
If you must know, the Uncanny Valley is a term used for that period in technology where a human can be reproduced to perhaps 99% likeness, yet it's the 1% that makes it look most "unhuman".
I've played the demo many times on 360 and PC, and I am pretty disappointed by the water in Bioshock, like how I was disappointed in Halo 2 for falling short. Both fantastic (water in Bioshock/Halo 2 game), but fell short of expectations.
Then again, it could just be the surface of the water that looks better in Halo 3. If the Beta is anything to go by, once your camera shifts to underneath the water, it doesn't have any water effects.
That is a good idea. The water is pretty impressive. This would make a great signature backdrop if your a Halo fan.

no I am a big pc gamer and this still impresses me a lot
One thing that others have mentioned that clearly looks amazing is the water in Halo 3. It looks darn near real. The more I have seen of this game now, the more I really am starting to be impressed with how it looks like it is going to turn out. And this is coming from a guy who is not a huge Halo fan at all since Halo 2.
I definitely am looking forward to Halo 3 more now than I was. I have a feeling that it may completely redeem itself with me after I was so let down with Halo 2. Should be fun.

Best pic right there. I like how they didn't overuse HDR and instead let it look more natural.

I agree completely. I was expecting Bioshock's water to be mind blowing, but it wasn't.

Actually after playing Bioshock for many hours and the Halo 3 beta I must say Halo 3's water even at beta state is much better. Bioshock may have a bit more realistic look to it but there is way more going on with the Halo 3 water than Bioshocks. All objects in Halo 3 effect the water, so if you park a car in the water the water will go around it. That in my opinion is a lot more intresting than a pretty noninteractive water (and no Im not counting the electricity interactivity in Bioshock since thats not really what Im talking about)
In this image you can see what Im talking about with the water interacting to your body or any other object, and items even float and then sink to the bottom when dropped in.

Bioshock has some great looking water, the only problem with it is that its way too scripted. It doesnt really interact with anything which is why I think Halo's water is way more intresting since it has more depth than just good looks.
