[QUOTE="SNIPER4321"]Another casual mainstream game sold millions. ShockingMichael0134567So much butthurt because you can't play Halo 4 . Halo is far from casual but its sales do come from most 360 fanboys. Unless you bought a 360 for the Kinect because you are a casual player, what other games would you buy that best represents your system. Forza and fable don't sell the millions like halo and gears so this just shows the fanbase of the 360, it either fps or casual Kinect. Numbers don't lies
For one platform? unlikely.3.1 million? That's like peanuts

Ha. You'll get it sooner or later. You're just trying to be a man of principle here.F*cking casuals. F*cking 343.

Why does everyone hate Reach? I think I still like Reach more than 4....they took so much out of reach that halo 4 feels downgraded. Armor sucks now, the ranking system is even worse(not even a picture, just numbers).YoshiYogurt
I don't hate Reach at all. Loved it in fact. I just think a lot of people didn't "get" the MP.
And I agree, I hate most of the armour available in Halo 4. It all feels so cheap and ten-a-penny, like they didn't spend more than 5 minutes designing each piece. Reach's armour permutations each had their own place. It seems 343 went for quantity over quality. Not a fan of the ranking system either. Why coudn't they retain the military ranks from Reach? Instead of SR-X No. Seems silly, but I suppose it's to help easily signify what rank you're at to morons.
Another thing I hate is the UI. It is filthy. Disgusting. Reach's was gorgeous, this one looks like someone puked on the screen. And it's not even as functional as Reach's.
Moan over, everything else has been pretty great about the game, though the hit detection seems to be a little off in MP, and sometimes I get that "CoD feeling" i.e. someone inexplicably was able to kill me even though I landed the first shot and followed it up with two or three more subsequent shots. I seem to die within two or three bursts. )
Plus the audio has fvcked up more than once. You know that sound distortion that plays when you enter one of those regeneration fields? Imagine exiting that field but having the distortion present throughout the rest of the match.
Jesus, totally forgot what the thread was about.:P
So lolVGchartz. I'm sure it did very well, but I'd rather wait for offical numbers than take those gobsh1tes' word for it.

How long is the single-player campaign?
Stringerboy
About as long as your typical COD campaign. In other words, way too short.
Well I thought the gears 3 campaign on the highest difficulty took me about 15 hours and I replayed it again when I unlocked the higher difficulty. I"m not really a multiplayer person( mainly coz I suck bad at it  ) so 15 hours is worth a buy.
I finished the original Halo back in the day, that was enough Halo for me. This one looks new and improved, I will get it at some point.
Well looks like diablo 3 is still sales king when it comes to a single platform exclusive.
3.5 million day one sales, and 6.3 week 1 sales.

I don't have a 360, but I played the online today, and it was very fun.

It has made me fall in love with Halo all over again after Reach broke my heart.

Armor sucks now, the ranking system is even worse(not even a picture, just numbers). So far I like Halo: Reach better than Halo 4. Also, character models aside, I don't get the geekgasms over the visuals. I don't find them far away better than Reach. The art direction in the single player definitely sets the game off, though.

No, 3.1 mill is nowhere close to 3.5 mill.
They're eating Diablos dust.
In all seriousness, there's no way Halo 4 is going to reach the 10 million milestone in as short a time frame as Diablo 3 did it. Diablo 3 had like no competition what so ever within it's first month of release, whereas one of the biggest game launches in history happens only a mere week after Halo 4's release. Halo 4 is gonna lose steam fairly quick. I would be surprised if it even managed to push 10 million copies.

Most of those were digital sales because hermits are too fat to go out and buy physical copies.

No, I totally agree. I've said it before on SWs. To be honest, I'd be a little surprised if it did indeed manage to shift 3 mill in it's first day.
I'd say lifetime sales will round off around 6-7 million, which is obviously no small feat, but for a Halo game, it's just above middling. Not really fair on Halo 4 though, since the 360's gen is coming to a close.

What the hell difference does it make? D3 still outsold it.
[QUOTE="Zeviander"]With a combined production/marketing budget on probably the order of $300-500 million, I wouldn't be surprised with it breaking records.musalala
WHAT!!!!! I highly doubt its in the TORtanic level of developement costs. Maybe $100 million
Yeah, 100-120 mill seems like a fair estimate. Halo 3's budget was 60 mill and that was including marketing, of which there was a lot.

6-7 million sounds very fair. I'm not sure what the lifetime sales of past Halo titles were.

This gen, Reach and 3 have hovered around 10-11 million. But it's hard to get accurate numbers as everyone quotes different sources with wildly varying numbers.

The movie had a very strict budget. Somewhere in the region of 10-15 million.
The Mountain Dew tie-ins was obviously mutually beneficial. I wouldn't say that cost them more than 5 million. Not to mention that was only in the States.
Plus, the engine is only Reach's, albeit heavily tweaked.

I think it will sell 10 million. 6-7 is Gears numbers and Halo is a lot more popular than that.
Great for the developer and Microsoft.
But sales isn't everything for me. A game that has great MP which requires me to have an active subscription with a rather short SP renders the game useless. It's a bargain bin game. I'm sorry but if Microsoft didn't charge for online, it would have been a day 1 purchase.
Remember, high sales doesn't mean quality.
Uncharted 3 sold 3.8 million copies in one day....one day..sorry had to do it. In all seriousness the article is quoting VGchartz so I doubt it is verified in anyway.
That being said, and judging by the midnight launch at my local Gamestop this game is going to sell like crazy. It's the first Midnight launch that I've been to in awhile (including AC3) that packed the store with people, and literally had people out the door.
It really is an outstanding game. Better than any of the Bungie Halo games...with the possible exception of Halo CE. Well at least in my opinion.
Well, the source suks but in reality, it seems logical that Halo 4 should likely out sell the Halos that came before it since with each passing year, the 360's installed base grew larger plus the fact many ( I can't comment just yet ) think this just may be the finest Halo yet which IMO, is really saying a bunch.
I don't know if you're joking or whatever, but uncharted 3 did not sell that many in one day. That was debunked. They shipped that many, not sold.Uncharted 3 sold 3.8 million copies in one day....one day..sorry had to do it. In all seriousness the article is quoting VGchartz so I doubt it is verified in anyway.

Halo i in the dust 400,000 units in a single day, which will translate into 2-3 million behind 1st week sales. 2-3 million sales difference in a 1 week time is major.
