Some consumers know how to make smart buys but alot more do not. I will be one of the first to defend PS3 as being the best console this gen...but even I wouldn't be caught with one of the gimped BC-less newer models because I look at it as a dumb buy. For people who do own a 4gig and want to play this game they will have to dish out more moeny just to get access.

I think the BC-less PS3 by sony was a rip off tactic as do I think the 4gig 360 from MS was a rip-off tactic. Sony comes in the form of having to pay again to play past gen games and MS comes in the form of having to pay again to upgrade the console to play current gen games. It's BS on both parts, So if you say 4gig 360 owners wouldn't care if it affects them playing the latest greatest halo, it's damage control pure and simple. And Soulitane I already know you are a big Halo fan, but no need to DC this.

I don't get it, they limit patching sizes because of owners of arcade and core xboxs. Then they themselves pull this move? Makes no sense.

It's all about the convenience of having 1 disc. Microsoft has made a mistake.

If the console comes with Blu-ray, all of your Xbox 360 games would come with 1 disc.

and with that comes slow read speed, redundant repeated data, poorly optimized multiplats and forced lengthy installs. one disc is convenient, if you spend no time swapping it, i'll bet you spend much longer waiting and installing those multiplats with mandatory installs, than i do physically swapping discs.

It took me about 15 minutes to install both dead space 2 discs the other day, getting on for about 12GB or something.

i dont care about installs as long as they dont take ages, they actually are a good thing on 360 as they reduce the noise of the console to little more than a whisper and speed up load time performance.

its been pretty useless this gen, next gen i think it will be a bigger player in turn due to better read speeds and such on the drives shipped in consoles.

But this gen its been hobbled by the slow speeds and data transmission because the drives are slwo and pale in comparrison to those of a DVD which have done perfectly well until the later era of this gen.

point is...it's not back then, it is NOW. What exactly don't you understand about that. Why are you damage controling past issues as a cruch on a current generation issue? It may not be an issue for me or you but for many gamers who own a 4gig model it's pretty patheic to have to put out extra money just to have basic playback of a supposed standard game. This is one of the reasons Sony decided to go with a 20 model at minimum to avoid issues like that. Again this is not last gen.
