[QUOTE="GamerwillzPS"]What PS3 games that are affected by slow drive speed? Stevo_the_gamer
Every game featuring a mandatory install. Meaning: more than none but less than all.

Wait a minute... Halo 4 is going to ask you to install 8GB. So your point is...?

It's not. You just need a HDD or a 8GB flash drive. No free space or install needed.

Halo 4 does not feature a mandatory install. It requires a hard drive to cache data to assist with loading assets because it, like the Blu-ray, isn't Infallible.

[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="sts106mat"] bluray is basically useless for gaming, what does bluray have to do with halo 4 maybe needing a hard drive install?sts106mat
Rage, blue dragon,LA Noire and several other games complete destroy your argument. Hell Uncharted 3 is close to 50GB long,Resistance which is a launch game was 17GB long,MS has make developer have nightmare with the whole compression crap, and have force developer to even cut data from the games, because is well know that they do charge a per disc royalty to developers. Blu-Ray was need it and MS refuse it because sony was behind it,and because they rushed the 360 to the market as RROD proved. Saying Blu-ray wasn't need it is like saying that DVD wasn't need it last gen, because many games on PS2 did came on CD,is not about now is about the future.

oh god, come on eltormo, its like being back in 2009 reading crap like that.

You should leave now as your argument is being annihilated.

You are resorting to "My god... oh god" arguments. You've lost, so GTFO.

fair enough, it doesn't effect me, i have a 120GB HD, i always install as it quietens the machine and speeds up load times.

I also doubt its a rip off tactic in fairness. the likelihood is that because the majority of halo 4 players will already have a hard drive and the way the game works, MS have allowed 343 to go the extra mile and require an install for the MP. if it improves the game, i am all for it.

With Halo reach already recording your campaign missions and multiplayer games allowing you to go into the theatre and watch the action / fly through it, its not surprising they want to improve on the experience.

like i said, IMO, this is good news as there is now no lowest common denominator, everything will be optimised for hard drive and it should deliver the best halo experience yet.

[QUOTE="sts106mat"][QUOTE="kuraimen"]Lol not only they have to pay to play online now they have to buy an overpriced hard drive to play a game they already paid for. Microsoft surely knows their lemming audience lol. Bu bu but Bluray is useless  razgriz_101

bluray is basically useless for gaming, what does bluray have to do with halo 4 maybe needing a hard drive install?

its been pretty useless this gen, next gen i think it will be a bigger player in turn due to better read speeds and such on the drives shipped in consoles.

But this gen its been hobbled by the slow speeds and data transmission because the drives are slwo and pale in comparrison to those of a DVD which have done perfectly well until the later era of this gen.

Blu-Ray destroy DVD in read and write speeds,is the drive on the PS3 which is slow because it is a first gen drive 2X,at 4X Blu-Ray is faster than a 12X DVD drive.

[QUOTE="kuraimen"]They even advertise the hard drive on the same announcement. LOL ridiculous "At a minimum, youll need at least an 8GB USB Flash Drive or an Xbox 360 Hard Drive to play Multiplayer mode in Halo 4. For an optimal experience playing with an Xbox 360 Hard Drive is highly recommended. For Xbox 360 4GB, Arcade and Core consoles, the Xbox 360 Hard Drive is sold separately. See below for more details on the storage device options available for Xbox 360 and Halo 4." http://www.xbox.com/en-us/marketplace/product/halo-4/optimizing-your-halo-4-experience

My point complete proven MS on purpose sabotage Halo 4 with that crap in order to make core owners buy their HDD,the did the same with Halo Reach which was unplayable co-op without hard drive,i am in shock as how 360 fan even defend MS on this kind of crap. MS is one of the worst things to ever happen to this industry.

Using the hard drive to cache data is a pretty standard ordeal that's seen regardless of the platform. The DVD drive has a faster drive compared to the PS3 but it's ancient compared to 24X drives out now, and 12X Bluray drives. You don't need a hard drive to play Halo 4, but it would ease a lot the stress that would be placed on streaming the data from the disk.

PS3 owners are missing the fact that 360 owners actually have the option to install games to a flash drive. I wish that was available on PS3. Flash drives are dirt cheap for loads of space. I can't even copy all my saves to one on a PS3, let alone install a game.

i already said, it sucks if you cannot afford it. if thats the case, perhaps get a new hobby. are they forcing me to buy a new hard drive ? no.

i am happy they are doing this as it probably means that the game will be better optimized than if they hadn't been allowed to go with an install or 8gb data cache whichever it maybe.

Wait a minute... Better optimised? I thought the Lems have always been saying that PS3 had poor optimisation due to BD's slow speed?

Anyway, i don't see the problem with requiring 8gig of space, drop in the ocean compared to the hard drive sizes you can get with 360's these days, and there's always cheap flash drives.

As I recall you were accuing me of being a fanboy out of the blue for no reason and with no other argument than what you believe you try to make some kind if fanboy point. So no I don't do it without other users saying anything.

Also, you have taken your foot off the insane fanboy peddle as of late, but don't mess it up by being butthurt over things that happend in the past. If you have a point of argument stay on topic and don't resort to insults or making fanboy claims then I am always calm.

[QUOTE="sts106mat"] oh come on eltormo, reach was an unusual case and was later patched to allow 4 player co-op.

Halo 3 and ODST also require HDD for co-op..lol Funny how it is only Halo which need this, all other games out there have co-op fine on 360 but Halo. And it was funny how Reach was latter patched way latter i may add,now MS found another way to screw core owners.

lol

Amazon UK prices:

Patriot 8GB Supersonic Boost XT USB 3.0 Flash Drive: £9.99

For Context:

PS Vita Memory Card 4GB Model: £12.99

PS Vita Memory Card 8GB Model: £22.62

Yeah poor arcade owners.

Also - "It's possible that the recently revealed Spartan Ops campaign, which will eventually feature 12 "incremental" hours across 50 missions, will increase required HDD space even further."

What like every other game with DLC? :|

GamerwillzPS

It would be funny if the actual install take 8GB,because every one knows that 8GB USB drive don't give you exactly that amount of storage,is always 7.8GB or less,so if the actual space need it is 8GB long,an 8GB flash drive will no do. But that is not the point, the point is that you will have to spend extra cash to get a crappy 8GB flash drive to play some mods in Halo 4,something that should no happen because no other game ever has require this,is only Halo the one with the problems odd isn't.? This is MS way of telling people buy an HDD please we sold you a core so you buy our over priced HDD,this is a slap to core owners face and is from MS,in fact MS own PDF about making games on 360 which is directed at developer actually stated that developers should make their games, with the notion that an HDD will not always be present.

They would have to buy a 16GB USB stick.

This is a slap in the face from Microsoft, and yet those dumb Xbox fanboys are happy to get slapped and getting screwed? It's just beyond me. :|

"At a minimum, you'll need at least an 8GB USB Flash Drive".

16GB flash drives are like...10 bucks. I fail to see how this is supposed to be a big problem. :?

The_Game21x
Agreed, and 26GB is enough for the game too and MP.

i already said, it sucks if you cannot afford it. if thats the case, perhaps get a new hobby. are they forcing me to buy a new hard drive ? no.

i am happy they are doing this as it probably means that the game will be better optimized than if they hadn't been allowed to go with an install or 8gb data cache whichever it maybe.

Ninja-Hippo

Wait a minute... Better optimised? I thought the Lems have always been saying that PS3 had poor optimisation due to BD's slow speed?

Lems never cease to entertain.

Boy, that flew right over your head didnt it?

Looks like you lack a basic reading comprehension skills as well.
