The thing is these games were never better than average. Fable, Splinter Cell, Bioshock, Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden are all better. Fable is dead now and all the rest are multi-plat. Both games released at the beginning of the generation so the media and fanboys hyped them up to be better than they really were and multiplayer pushed them to be successful. MS really does need to move away from both and focus on other franchises. They are rehashing Forza every year too and they don't have any good single player games now that Fable is dead. Xbox need to just admit the truth and stop defending or deflecting the matter at hand. This is not an issue with brand loyalty of which console you prefer. The Xbox lacks games and now it has no exclusives with everything being on PC. Why even buy an Xbox? To watch 4K Blu Ray? LOL! They didn't even take a risk with Halo or Gears since they both have new developers. They just Rehashed the same formula and design.

I'd be okay with that, critical acclaimed franchises, no one will remember uncharted 4 in years.

No thats like any movie or tv series it will get stale after awhile.
Look at what happened to final fantasy 13 and stuff it was one of the most unexpired games ever and it didn't even sell good compared to some of the earlier ones.
you can't just slap a halo and a number on a box you need a good game to back it up.
Halo 4 and Halo 5 didn't even look all that impressive compared to halo 3 it didn't wow me with story or new mechanics. The series isn't poppin anymore when I went into halo 1 that was my jam.

Says a 93 rated game that will win GOTY 2016 will be forgotten while two MUCH lower rated games will remembered. I seriously doubt it and sure as Hell won't be for their campaigns which is the only thing that is timeless.
LOL if you think Uncharted is done as a franchise. It is going on hiatus but it will most certainly be back in the next 4 to 5 years. Companies don't throw away successful IPs like that at their peak, but I applaud Sony for not forcing Naughty Dog to keep churning them out. And no Uncharted 4 will still be remembered years from now because it had one the most satisfying conclusions that I have seen in game. The way Naughty Dog handled that ending was pure perfection.
Forza Horizon 3 got them cows so salty..
Let me humor you....
Uncharted 3 - 93
Blooodborne - 92
Forza Horizon 3 - 91
It seems to be a great game, but for your System Wars purposes it still comes up short.
Gamespot pretty much figured out the winning formula for this gen is to post clickbait Xbox articles and reviews and then let the cow herd do the rest.
One 7 by Gamespot would not have this game sitting a 84 and 83 on the two major review aggregate sites. One good thing is this shows that critics are putting a strong emphasis into the quality of the single player content. Great MP and meh campaign should not net your game a great score and both Halo 5 and Gears 4 were docked points for this development strategy.

The best part is those 2 are exclusive while no one need an xbox one for FH3 since it is a multiplatform if you go by their logic of multiplatforms count that mean TLOU also counts.. lol

Yeah we all know that Xbox has no exclusives any more, but I was trying to keep the comparison somewhat fair by only using games first released this generation. Games like Nier Automata and Persona 5 will absolutely count for PlayStation since we bend the rules for Xbox.

What do you mean? Uncharted 4, Halo 5, Gears 4, and Forza Horizon 3 will all be sitting in the bargain bin 3 years from now but that happens with pretty much everything except Nintendo games nowadays.

It's not about the bargin bin and what ends up in it, all games do, it's about memories forged and fun had while playing games. Microsoft's strong emphasis with multiplayer in their games will not only net more fun and playtime from the games they release, people will have a stronger sense of nostalgia and memories tied to their games and the hundreds if not thousands of hours they got out of them by engaging in a community and with friends.
We all remember GoldenEye 007 as being a great game, but what we remember and long for much more than that was the multiplayer, it's where we spent 99% of the time played.
@dynamitecop: The Last Of Us and Bloodborne for Sony in recent years. Splatoon for Nintendo.
Also I seriously doubt The Coalition is doing anything but Gears Of War 5. It's a Gears factory now just like 343i and Turn 10 are married to one IP. And that is OK because they have huge dedicated fan bases to cater to, but I would like to see a but more diversity. Step out of their comfort zones and try something new. I don't think any studio(outside of sports devs) should be chained to one IP as I feel it stifles creativity.
The Coalition is a new studio...It's only natural for them to play it safe. Turn 10 is a racing game studio.. can't really expect other games from them. If Forza Horizon games wasn't enough stepping out of the Forza comfort zone..
343i is very much stuck with Halo which is a shame..

Halo has never had one bad game.. There were better ones but none were bad whastoever... The exact same goes for Forza and Gears.
Funny how you bring up Final Fantasy... Regardless of how well XIII did compared to it's predecessors, it still sold well.
Why would Halo, Gears and Forza become stale... Forza has been here for 11 years. Gears has been here for 10 years. Halo.... 15 years. They have always been decent games too.
Don't see the logic in your analogy.. It doesn't make sense.

I consider racing to be part of the sports genre so I don't expect anything but Forza from Turn 10. They do not develop the Forza Horizon series though. That is Playground Games. I think Rod Ferguson said The Coalition is "all Gears all the time" so they are stuck with Gears as well. Maybe if they grow big enough to have two teams at some point they may revisit the shelved IP, but I wouldn't count on it.
@dynamitecop: After initial release, it stopped charting. You still haven't proven me wrong. Thanks for playing dynamiteflop.
So now you're moving goalposts to a game having to show up on a chart? What the **** kind of logic is that... What are continual sales over months and months spanning the globe, also what are digital sales... because those clearly don't exist either...
You have the Halo franchise development director telling you it sold approximately 5 million, you have an industry analyst telling you it sold over 5 million, you have The Master Chief Collection selling over 5 million showing relevant interest in the franchise...
I didn't just prove you wrong, I buried you, have a wonderful evening on your shit posting spree.
Aren't you the same guy that made a entire thread about UC4 goalpost? STFU hypocrite and a liar. MS don't do numbers.

People have also great memories about Super Metroid, Zelda, Crash Bandicoot, all single player games... You're not making any sense. And funny how you think you can, not only look into the future but also read people's minds on what they're going to remember fondly. Lol ok lem...

If all that was the case, then the X1 would be selling like hotcakes and leading the generation and the last. Goalpost moving shitty post. You want to pick the metric on how a game is measured. You have no credibility on this forum tool.
The era just keeps rolling on. and once again this gen Xbox has you covered when it comes to the most popular genres. The absolute finest FPS, TPS and Racer on earth.
Well done MS, well done indeed. :P
Did we already forget about Gears of War: Judgement and Halo 4?
Those are the respective low points. So now they're technically on the up and up , but they'll obviously never peak anywhere close to Halo 3/Reach & Gears 1/3.
Halo 4 is 87 and Halo 5 is 84, so it's still on the decline
Gears Judgement was not a main entry so Gears 4 is the low point
Pretty sure sales matter, not scores. Otherwise Destiny is not getting a sequel and we all know that's not true.
Lol gamespot gave gears 7. They aren't the be all end all except when it comes to the defunct meta game. If these games were done there wouldn't million dollar cash prizes at stake in e sports competition. You're trying to equate our non sense meta game into actual business reality. Fail
@SecretPolice: Racing is hardly a major genre. Gran Turismo is pretty much the only racing game outside of Mario Kart that still moves major units.
@StrongBlackVine:
Nopers, doesn't get more mainstream in the VG world than racing games. Always been that way, always will plus me thinks FH3 certainly is moving consoles, I have little doubt. Just sayin. :P
@SecretPolice: Racing games are kinda niche now. Forza games are not moving major units, but if you are a hardcore racing fan Microsoft is definitely delivering for you.

If it wasn't you would not have trolled PS4 exclusive thread with that same nonsense, now deal with the flop. Flops need love too.
@StrongBlackVine:
In no way are racing games niche in fact they're the antithesis of niche. Agreed X1 is the place for console racing fans and I'm one of those but have little time for them these days and losing the excitement for VG in general that I once had for many decades. :( " SP runs away crying " :P
@NathanDrakeSwag:
Until it favors Sony/MS. Many of the same people here in this thread that claims GS reviews don't matter, are the same exact people who quickly quote Driveclub as "5club" in reference to the GS score. Hypocrisy is very present in this thread.
@aigis:
Just because one racing game in particular doesn't sell 10 million does not mean they're not still amongst the most popular genre still. There are just so many these days that if you were to combine their sales you'd find it's still a very great selling genre and one that even the most casual can get in to.

TLHBO.
@Cloud_imperium: End of the HaloGearsForzaBox era and into the just ForzaBox era.
Lol. Yeah, M$ needs big new franchises.
@aigis:
Eh, I'd need to know more about the graph and the criteria and where it came from to come up with those results. Seems off to me I mean Racing could and is considered a sport as well. :P
@StrongBlackVine: I would have liked to Gears Of War 4 to go for a horror vibe. Early in the marketing they said it was going for a darker tone so I hoping for maybe a Resident Evil style game in some parts with actual scary monsters. When I saw re-skinned locusts picking up guns and fucking robots doing the same thing I knew it was going to a be a by the numbers sequel. And most people are happy with that, but I wanted more. You can continue an IP while still keeping thin he fresh. That is me going off on a tangent, but just my thoughts on Gears 4 campaign"
And that is the problem with making a conclusion without actually playing the game. Pounces are completely new and difficult enemy to handle. Then you have the juvies. These things move so fast and agile that the only way to kill them is when they get close enough to you to do damage to you. You will be overwhelmed very quickly by them. The new grabbing out of cover and mantle kick are so well balanced. You don't just button press and nail it. Player needs to be accurate and timed right. I've been caught a few times reaching over cover but the enemy is a little to the left or right and then just slaughters you while vulnerable.
@flyincloud1116: How am I not dealing with it?
Gamespot giving it a 7 has nothing to do with how well it will sell, how many will play it or compete in e sports competitions of the game. When TC asks are these games done, but limits his evidence to GS scores its kinda narrow minded. You want to talk flop? That all applies to this board and the defunct metagame, not the business of the games industry. You scratch like a child.
